loool. Ezmacil..you couldn't wait only 20 mins?j/k I heard of some kid who couldn't wait 5 mins I can't remember my first day of fasting...but I started when i was 11 or 12. The only thing I recall is that one night after suxuur my dad told us to wait up for fajr since it was only half an hr away. So we sat around the living room...just us kids. & 5 mins later the complaints started. "oh my god, Im thirsty.. my mouth is dry....Don't swallow the saliva." lol. We would run to the bathroom everytime the saliva formed. We thought swallowing it would break our fast. My throat was dry by the time i went back to bed. But I think I made it through the day. I can't recall ever breaking my fast ever since I started. I still laugh when i remember that night. Salaams

That's really sad. I didn't realize London was such a dangerous place. I don't think carrying weapons is a good idea, especially for teens. It will just create more problems for that person...with the law and they can even get killed with their own weapon. I would think the best thing to do in this situation is for the parents to keep a good eye on their kids, although that can be difficult to do with teens.

Salaams, Sophist. That was well written. I didn't think I would stick around to read the whole thing when I saw it's length, but I guess I got hooked. & your eloboration was quite helpful too. I'll check out the concluding paragraphs. One more thought. Don't hang around with those bloodthirsty falcons too much.... or you'll see yourselve quenching your thirst with booze too. You can not resist peer pressure for too long

Interesting. Well you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the enlightment THunder..and A/nuur for bringing up the question.

Lak.. You're right.. ear piercing is also altering the body.. but this is acceptable because it's part of beautifying yourself.. speaking on the woman's behalf of course. It was mentioned above about navel piercing... This is not a place where adornments are usually worn, and there is no benefit in this practice
-
Btw Lakkad.. about your question. Here's what I found. Question: What is the ruling on piercing the skin around the navel (belly-button) and inserting a metal ring? Answer: Praise be to Allaah. We put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen (may Allaah preserve him), who answered as follows: This is self-inflicted torture. This is not a place where adornments are usually worn, and there is no benefit in this practice. It comes under the heading of changing the creation of Allaah. And Allaah knows best.

Salaams, A/raheem I think the main reason is because, they're not surrounded by Somalis, so they try to fit in with the others. As the saying goes.. you are what your friends are right? The more they are exposed to Somalis, the more they will come to appreciate their culture and people. The young ones are at that stage where they are facing an identity crisis... but in time, they to will outgrow it.

NOVA & Nuune (how well it goes together) Since when is kissing acceptable? You're making it normal, when it obviously isn't in our religion. Don't mislead the innocent ok? Ceeb Caleyk!
-
Hey Ameenah! I am OK sis I'll keep in touch Insha Allah.
-
A H*e is a little too strong of word don't you think sis? It takes two people to do the deed...so what title would you give the guy? "I KNOW ALOT OF SOMALIA GIRL WOULD NEVER DO THING LIKE THAT" Be more realistic sis because we're in the mellinium there is more crazy things that happen than a kiss. Not saying that a kiss Ok. After all we are Muslims.

Sujui lol.. I can't imagine watching a game for 90mins... without a GOAL! That is straight out torture really. I agree with my girl Nova here...Basketball is the best. Soccer is only good for playing.
