It's impressive to see how a divisive people like the Japanese that used to be pirates, riddled with civil-wars and were the biggest clannists in Asia evolved above their clan-system and destroyed it. They build a magnificent country afterwards in a small geographic part of their world, while we have been blessed with a country three times the size of Japan, with countless rich resources and no earth-quakes, but can't seem to reach above the village mentality and are perpetual slaves to illiterate clan chieftains. I'm kinda tired of these type of articles, completely irrelevant to us considering there is not a single major Somali actor or actress out there, so a big BOOHOO, and I blame the Somali people for that. They went from making films and documentaries that had the largest budgets in African Cinema, and annually hosted for decades two of the four largest film festivals in Africa to having a non-existent film culture. If the war hadn't happened we would have maintained our status as the film capital of the region easily, and could have expanded that into a cultural franchise akin to the Korean Wave. You see; the Koreans really don't care about the American or British Film industries because they have their own industry, and its Hollywood that's copycatting their products through various remakes and not the other way around, maybe that's what we should strive for?

An age old cure The answer to treating painful arthritis could lie in an age old herbal remedy - frankincense, according to University research. Scientists from the School of Biosciences have been examining the potential benefits of frankincense to help relieve and alleviate the symptoms of the condition. "The search for new ways of relieving the symptoms of inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis is a long and difficult one," according to Dr Emma Blain, who leads the research with her co-investigators Professor Vic Duance from the School of Biosciences and Dr Ahmed Ali of the Compton Group. "The South West of England and Wales has a long standing connection with the Somali community who have used extracts of frankincense as a traditional herbal remedy for arthritic conditions. What our research has focused on is whether and how these extracts can help relieve the inflammation that causes the pain," she added. The Cardiff scientists believe they have been able to demonstrate that treatment with an extract of Boswellia frereana – a rare frankincense species – inhibits the production of key inflammatory molecules which helps prevent the breakdown of the cartilage tissue which causes the condition. Dr Ali adds: "The search for new drugs to alleviate the symptoms of conditions like inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis is a priority area for scientists. What our research has managed to achieve is to use innovative chemical extraction techniques to determine the active ingredient in frankincense. "Having done this we are now able to further characterise the chemical entity and compare its success against other anti-inflammatory drugs used for treating the condition." The research comes as a result of a seedcorn project, funded by the Severnside Alliance for Translational Research (SARTRE), through the MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme devolved portfolio. Carafaat, time is a natural construct engineered through the centuries by man, don't box your dreams into a limited gregorian timeline and schedule. If you mentally and physically feel 19, then that's what you are! You see, you just regained ten years of your life, and so you have all the time you need to achieve your resolutions. I however would advice you to embrace your age for there are millions of people who never make it to the age of 10, or the age of 20, and they had plenty of dreams too. I recall that before the war no city in East Africa was given a prestigious nickname like ''The Pearl of the Indian Ocean'' that Mogadishu was once known as, it had the only major Film Festival in East Africa and the largest Museum. I recall Berbera was the only city in Africa that boasted an airport serving as an emergency landing strip for NASA, etc, etc. Why not focus on outperforming non-Somalis by transforming our cities into word-class hubs instead of this crabs in a bucket mentality?

I held today the most beautiful Somali baby I have ever seen in my life, only 6 months old with big brown eyes that suck you in and an infantile smile that wakes the dormant father within you. The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay: The three main characters in The Lions of Al-Rassan represent the three religious factions: Asharites, Jaddites, and Kindath. These three groups represent Islam, Christians, and Jews. The three characters are all very charismatic and are considered to be the perfect specimen of their given factions. Ammar ibn Khairan is a well-known warrior and poet who represents the Asharites/Muslims, Rodrigo Belmonte (El Cid) is the champion for the Christians/Jaddites, and Jehane is the beautiful and intelligent Kindath/Jewish doctor that the two men fall in love with. I did enjoy each of the characters and it was refreshing to see the Asharites/Muslims shown in a favorable light even if it was a more romanticized version. Ammar was a character that you could respond to. Belmonte was also a great character, except he also had a huge flaw, in that he was married to one, if not the most beautiful woman in the realm and he found himself in a love triangle with Ammar and Jehane. This was a lot to swallow as his introduction showed him as honorable and loving no one else aside from his wife. For the story to work you had to buy into his love for another woman. The other woman, Jehane, was also a great character. She was very strong and did a great job of moving the story forward. Even the supporting cast had great parts to play as the story unfolded. Male Pattern Baldness is a disease, don't embrace it! I mean would you embrace cancer, or other life-changing diseases? MPB can be just as psychologically damaging as the big C. There is a chance however that what you are currently going through has nothing to do with MPB, but instead is a sign of an increase in your body producing DHT that is blocking your roots, this could be due to stress, an increase of testosterone, etc. There are currently plenty of ways for you to stop hair-loss and regain what you have lost. The easy way would be to keep your hair moist through various natural oils because hairs are like flowers, or you could use products like "Regaine" which Matthew Mccougnahay uses, or you could go for a full-blown hair-transplant. I could never accept going bald, my hair is thick and curly like that guy from Entourage, it defines me, a symbol of who I am. I swear the first bald spot I see I'm going to run to my nearest clinic and get the most professional doctors to fix my hair, and afterwards would construct stone statues with their faces on them in my garden.
