That is something ive been struggling with recently, as ive gradually become less and less conservative over the years, and fear I may be compromising aspects of my religion or cultural heritage in some ways. I find it to be a very slippery slope, and a central problem faced by many Somalis in general. I don't believe in this liberal or rightist nonsense. I believe in the fact that half of my DNA consists of a long line of female ancestors. Somali women are our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, daughters, and wives. I personally want the best for them, be it in education, sport or life in general.
  2. Season of Khayr indeed, many Somalis at home and abroad are beginning to see the bigger picture, and slowly but surely the indigineous superstructure that is the Somali State is rising like a Phoenix. Mogadishu is making a big comeback, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean is one large construction zone, Pro-Somali countries like Turkey, Qatar and the UAE are making sure everything is on track, and that the interests of Somalis can't be twisted and manipulated to appease Somalia's neighbours, the darlings of the West. That time has changed, world power is shifting, and with it a real chance for an honest reconciliation process. In the political landscape, there are things happening that most people would not have foreseen only two years ago. A Somali politician like Farmaajo mobilised nationalist fervor amongst different clans. The entrance of educated Somalis on the political scene. Somaliland being interested in talks (conditions or not, it's a precedent). The entrance of the Turks whose global clout has done miracles for the situation in Somalia on a international level. The transition will end in August, and with it the chance of fresh faces in Somali politics, many of which are very promising. Amongst the Islamists, cracks are starting to appear and I believe these will grow larger in the coming year, so there is a real chance there. In the economic and social sectors, history was made when an Oil Rig began drilling in Puntland's Dharoor Valley, in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu, the largest Children's hospital is being constructed, a large airport expansion is occuring and everywhere you look there is construction in the city. Mogadishu is the engine of the Somali World, if it does well, we all do well! Its vital that special attention is given to lifting the arms-embargo, this resolution is outdated, for there is a recognised Somali government in place that has legitimacy amongst the citizens of the capital, and large swathes of the country. For Somalia to enjoy massive billion dollar plus investments, security has to be paramount and we can achieve this with a well-equipped Somali Armed Forces, funded with the revenues from the Ports, Airports and taxation. Therefore in 2013 the Somali Army has to be supplied with tanks of their own, and recruits should be send to Turkey for naval training. In 2014 and 15, an air component should be steadily attached to the military. The above is extremely important to maintaining the gains made, and go beyond that.

  6. The above is tongue in cheek, however Somali men and women should not be portrayed as rivals or competitors in any shape or form, it's equivalent to splitting up team and then have one half play against the other half in a tournament with hundreds of other unified teams. You only create resentment, and that's counterproductive when the coaches and sponsors of the community are still predominantly male, and potentially road-blocks if they view the female half of the team as a threat, this was never the case in the Old Republic, hence why by every measurement possible Somali women were ahead of the majority of Africa and the Middle East in rights and status. However with this new conservative wave, it's a different story.

He was extremely handsome, and he seemed to be smooth in his manners, and he had good ettiquettes, anyways, we chatted, and he shopped with me alittle. So surprisingly I find out he lives near my area, and he called me up to go out. Anyways, I don't know what happened but the 'pretty' boy turned out to be a shallow hal (except he was somali). There was a point he got out the car walked over to some girl and got want looked like her number, and he started telling me about how all the girls want him because he doesn't act like a regular somali guy. To make matters worst, he tells me to pay for my coffee, and when i told him no way , that I was raised for men paying for me, he left my **** in the street, I had to call my friend to pick me up. I'm not mad, i'm glad i got this experience, and I hope girls can get experience from what happened to me, that was the biggest qarxiis of my weekend! LOL!

Somalis, one ethnicity, one religion, one madhab, one language, one land...what did we do with all those blessings? We soiled on ourselves. All of us need to look at ourselves with some serious introspection, because let's face it...as group we have been hopeless. Is that what you feel when you look deep down? Are you even aware that the largest civil-wars in history were fought by people that looked the same, had the same culture and spoke the same language? The Chinese Civil War? the American Civil War? The Korean War? Nothing unique about our situation and just because we are in a bad state today doesn't mean we will be tomorrow, because we weren't yesterday. Pick any century in the last 2000 years, and our ancestors will rank high as a trading and military group in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, twenty years of statelessness won't change this fact. When I look deep down, this is what I see: - Somalia, a country with an immense rich historic heritage and culture. - A country that was hailed as one of the greatest democratic countries in Africa in the 1960s, and President Aden Abdulle was the first head of state to step down peacefully in an African election year. - A country that made the greatest advance in literacy history, outshining the much hailed Cuban literacy campaign. - A country that maintained a military complex considered in the top five militaries of Africa, a continent of 50+ countries. It send troops to Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and trained the South Africans and the Eritreans during their independence struggles. - A country that was one of the few self-sufficient countries in Africa, and the breadbasket of the Middle East, and even exported food to Europe. A single Somali crop like 'bananas' was the biggest employer of people in East Africa. - A country that was the first muslim country to grant equal rights to women through the 1975 Family Law, and the participation of women in the work-force was higher in Somalia than the percentages of Algeria, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco put together. - A country that in peace was building more deepsea ports than any country in East Africa. - A country that was building more highways and roads than its larger neighbour Ethiopia. Even today Somalia's paved road-network remains larger than the road-networks of Uganda and DR Congo put together whose combined territory size is five times larger than Somalia. - A country who's aviation sector maintained Africa's largest runway at the Berbera Airport, whose record was only broken by the 4500m runway expansion at Mogadishu Airport. - A country who's 1000 year old city of Mogadishu was one of the cleanest and safest cities in Africa, and a major political and cultural capital hosting fashion shows, sport-events, major political conventions and annually presided over two of the four largest African Film Festivals, and had the region's largest Museum. - A country that was the only country in Africa with whom the Soviet Union signed a friendship-treaty, and the first African country to be visited by a Soviet Head of State. - A country that in 1974 became the first non-Arab country to join a traditionally exclusive organisation like the Arab League. - A country that maintained the largest commercial Merchant fleet in the Muslim world; larger than seafaring nations like Turkey, Pakistan and Morocco. - A country who's national carrier 'Somali Airlines' was the only national airlines in Africa to have in its work-force exclusively 'African pilots and technicians' (all professional Somalis) and had one of the largest networks flying to the Middle-East, Europe and other parts of Africa. - A country that was in the process of constructing Africa's second largest Dam (after the Aswan dam) in the form of the Bardera dam project. - A country that constructed the largest Fish production factory in East Africa, the biggest meat processing factory. The SNAI sugar factory was the largest in the region, and Somaltex manufactured more textiles than any country in Africa, with so much produced that one could stretch it from Mogadishu to New York according to an 1980s journalist. - A country who's largest university is reponsible for educating globally renown scientists, judges and professors: Somali National University -Abdulqawi Yusuf – international lawyer and judge with the International Court of Justice. -Ali Said Faqi – prominent scientist and leading researcher in toxicology. -Warsame Ali – prominent scientist and co-founder of the Somali Development Foundation. -Asha Jama - Prominent Somali Canadian activist. -Jama Musse Jama - Prominent Somali ethnomathematician and author. -Abdiweli Mohamed Ali - Economist professor and politician. - Hussein Warsame - Major accountant and associate professor. - Mohamud D Afgarshe - Award winning doctor and lecturer. - Said O.Ismail - Pathologist and Associate Medical Director for Spectrum Health Cytology Services. -Hussein Hanfi - Anesthesiologist at Howard University Hospital in Washington DC. - Abdulqadir Omar - Project Coordinator with City of Toronto’s Department of Health and WHO Emergency Health Coordinator in South Sudan. - Mohamed Hassan - Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine-Gastroenterology Division at the University of Minnesota in 2004. - Abdirashid Shire - Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic. etc, etc That's what I see when I look deep down, because I know our current situation isn't set in stone, and we can go only up, but doesn't mean we as a people are useless, no to the contrary!
  9. My ancestry is in Puntland and Somaliland, but I do not see my future there, and more importantly I think it would be best if these two entities just went completely their own way, full independence. I'm kind of tired of all this diva-ish behaviour of these groups thinking they're superior to others that look like them, speak the same language as them and practice the same religion. There is only tunnel-vision and complete lack of awareness of the situation around them in the region; the rapid industralization, the vast trading ties, the military-build up, the population growth. Those little new countries could never become players against such a mobilization of manpower and size, the way a revived Somalia could. In any case no more war for trivial bs, instead Central and South Somalia should become the new Somali Republic open to all Somalis from around the world, and which has the old ideals of Somalinimo, let the other entities engage in exclusivity. There is plenty of oil and other natural resources in the remaining regions, it will have the largest Somali population, its an agricultural paradise, and has the most urban hubs, it's sufficient. Enough with the charade of Federalism or we can be 'two countries one system' nonsense, you either with the Somali Republic, or your not.
  10. Umm Maryam, ignore Ahmed-Ina-Jaad, he's our local village I.d.i.o.t
  11. For most Somalis, unfortunately, this is has become the norm. Patriotic and healing stories are seen as mawkish endeavors best left to the naïve. No wonder in these minds of distorted vision, SYL is a conspiratorial cabal, the likes of Abdullahi Isse clan chauvinists, the Sayyid’s epic struggle for liberation a myth created by Siyad Barre. This is mass amnesia glorified. Welcome to Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984 implemented to perfection, only, this time, achieved with the simple use of a tainted lens. LMAO, he just assassinated half the forum, bravo!

We are programmed that way, instead you need to get her on your side, but don't grovel or go to far appeasing her because that's another form of weakness and you will simply be accorded Cinderella status (before she met the prince lol).
  13. 1. Warlords 2. Nothing, here in Britain you have scrap-metal thieves that even loot war-memorials to the point that many have been converted into stone by caretakers to prevent destruction. 3. Yes, 100%, when there is peace. 4. They are symbolic to our history, but the reconstruction of the statues and the establishment of more, (for other figures) will also be a symbol of the new dawn rising in the Somali Republic.

LOL Seriously piss off Alpha, if I want to permanently settle in Somalia there are multiple things I have to take into account, number one being whether the Queen of Queens actually wants to return to begin with. It's all good that I have all these ambitions, but these plans come to a crashing halt if it means a long-distance relationship. I could dump her, but what's the alternative? Running around Hargeisa or Mogadishu chasing poor maids like you LOL, no thanks sxb. My star is rising Alpha, don't worry about the safety-measures I will put in place to safeguard my future empire. Fall back!!

  17. I'm tempted to go back while I'm young and before the baby-drama, because I refused to be an absentee father, but at the same time would not want two precious beings in a place of uncertainty like Somalia (unless universal peace arrived across the country tomorrow), so I have a specific time limit, in the next one to two years, to return and start something solo. However I won't create the necessary capital to do anything significant in that time-span, unless I secure novel/comicbook-deals in that limit. The future will tell, I truly hate the future.
  18. This song should be called Somalia, the lyrics fit perfectly
  19. Africaown, don't concern yourself with these genetical studies released by amateurs, for they are filled with politically loaded hidden agendas. For starters, their source population for 'Africans' is strictly Niger-Congo speaking Africa, excluding the Horn of Africa and North Africa, the latter is in fact added to the Middle East. The Berbers, Sudanese and Egyptians share prehistoric genetical ties with the Horn of Africa hence a group from that part of the world (like the Somali people) will share similarities with those North Africans.and since they have been classed under 'Middle-East' the percentage becomes higher, but this is not admixture instead its a common root population dating back to 10k BC. However if one removes North Africa from the equation, the percentage falls to around 10%, and this translates into 'out every 10 Somalis , 1 will have a distant link with a foreign female or male relative', which is next to nothing when considering the long history of trade Somalia engaged in. DNA tribes is erroneously using a modern term like the 'middle east'(which at times includes Somalia and Pakistan) to interpret data relating to ancient migrations.
