Somali culture has many degenerate aspects, which are sold to us as being "important traditions" and "values", which in truth have not advanced our living standards or contributed to a stable society. The current status of women in Somalia is a victory to the degenerate side of our culture, just like "clan" has defeated the republic, so have various outdated traditions managed to outlast their eradication campaigns sponsored by the republic and helmed by women. BTW, every Somali man was raised by a Somali mother, if he turns into a chauvinistic pig, maybe his mother should have broaden his persepective with regards to the other gender, instead of worrying about the latest gossip. Women have a lot to do with their own status in society.

Hallo Mrs MOons, gefeliciteerd! Ik miss de pepernoten, de gevulde koeken, de chocolade letters, de pret-parken, de tv programmas. Holland is the best country for a child to grow up, its sheer paradise. Anyone remember avondvierdaagse? LOL, walking five miles every day for a week and packed with candy. These are great initiatives I hope to bring back to Somalia one day. We need an equivelant of Sint based on a Somali legend, and a local avondvierdaagse would create strong attachement between the child and the town/city. There is also something about Dutch society and education that creates Pan-Somalists, the most visionary ones I have come across all grew up there.

Brothers dedicating topics to other brothers, what must our superior better halves be thinking about all this brotherly love? I wonder!

Alpha has always been this way from as far as I can remember. I think boredom in Hargeisa might have cranked it up a notch, but he's harmless in the end, though he sometimes presses the submit button without fully realising what he just wrote. His moodswing topic is interesting, and always reminds me of the lack of leisure activities in H-City where one can simply unwind and relax, big business opportunities!

Regrets are the whispers of Satan, I reject the concept of regret, instead I highlight the positive consequences of my actions and non-actions. If I had pursued so and so I would not be happy and stable today, had I chased that particular sports career my other luctrative interests would have suffered and most likely I would have been a stranger to most of nephews, nieces and cousins like my childhood friend, who is a kickboxing champion today, yet has weak ties with his family because of all the training and travelling. I'm pretty sure if someone went back in time and turned you into a casanova, your present-day kids would disappear. Sure you might have others, but they would look slightly different, and with different personalities, indeed you might regret wishing for a promiscuous lifestyle coming with such a high price. One should not dwell on regrets for as long as you draw breath on this planet. Also, women can't be deciphered, their thought patterns exceed the Enigma codes.

The Financial Story Behind the Kismayo Disagreement
Chimera replied to Mintid Farayar's topic in Politics
The Federal Government should redirect a large tanker from the Mogadishu port to Kismayo and have the entire pile shipped and sold in one go. The revenues should go directly into upgrading the port of Kismayo, be it drenching it deeper for post-panamax ships, replacing old equipment and purchasing new trucks and salaries for the Port Authority. The government should take out a loan with a Chinese bank to establish two medium sized factories in Kismayo that can provide jobs and the taxes gained from that could go into a pot for the reconstruction of the derelict airport. Any businessmen complaining about lost revenue should be recorded and given notice that their ill-gained assets stored in the region and Dubai could be frozen at the government's behest, which is the only entity with the power to ship it legally. -

Oday, one can marry a non-Somali and still be part of the Somali world, otherwise millions of Somali kids wouldn't feel inspired by the likes of Mo Farah and Rageh Omaar with their foreign spouses, and their Somali identities are firmly intact. Yes its nice to have a son or a daughter that looks like you, I have expressed that sentiment for years on SOL but you will love a half Somali child just as much even if you can't process the thought today. I certainly couldn't until I mentored a 11 year old half Somali half English girl, and she is more Somali in classic manner and culture than a lot of the characters on this forum by far, its those kind of children who didn't choose their parents that you are ostracising and denying the chance to join the Somali world, they can be a great asset. The country is recovering, and if it taps into its potential and massive resources it will be a prosperous place, and those kind of places attract immigrants like in the prewar period, which means Somalis will mix with those communities, as they did historically and which are still evident in the coastal cities of the South, though not on a large scale. Still their choices should be respected, and this will not be the case for as long as the Somali identity is based on xenophobia be it clan or ethnicity. Its a bit grand to to think our pure Somali children will be the ones tipping the scales towards a large Somali nation. The Somali population with or without us will still be 40 million in a few decades, a 100 million in 2100, so no need to put all that weight on your shoulders. If you want to marry a Somali sister, that's cool as my own train is close to reaching that destination and I consider them second to none, but please don't base your decision on something superficial, you will still be a Somali man who can teach his kids dhaqanka Soomaalida and deenta Islaamka without forcing yourself into something or losing your identity. Somali + Somali marriages don't neccesarily result in a concrete Somali identity amongst their children. They might be successful in life on multiple levels be it academics, sports and business, but there are still hundreds of thousands of pure Somali men and women today struggling with their ancestral language, culture and are busy catching up, including me. Long story short and cliche as hell; if it feels right, your on the right path

Alpha Blondy;894002 wrote: adams, the one-man catastrophe. why must you utter this nonsense all the time. good night. Che you don't know the context since I was vague as its not my place to air it. Iska ba dhaaf sheekadan, it was intended for the OP, pretend I never said a thing.

Che, its meaningless, no Somali should thwart their good chances in life in the name of ethnicity, there is nothing to gain from it. Aaliyah lol Che would still complain and tell me to 'stop trolling'.
-
Do you need a LOL at the end of my sentence to make you more at ease in this topic about love and drama? LOL
-
A week ago I realised and experienced painfully upclose how meaningless the concept of community loyalty is on any level including 'love', and how you could be walking healthy and powerful one day and be fatally hit by a car the next. Just live your life, if Allah swt wants you to be with another Somali, it will happen, no need to force it or base your decision on what others think, outside of your parents ofcourse. Just live and enjoy.

My vote is for Alpha, the brother actually campaigned, that shows passion. Truth be told though in terms of knowledge and learning something new, OdaySomali is by far the nomad of the year. BTW I voted for Xaaji because I don't like seeing a fellow brother ostracised like that, but know that my real vote is for the brilliant degenerate genius called Alpha Blondy, may he reach the second round.

Saudi Arabia implements electronic tracking system for women
Chimera replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
This is why I love the Saudis, they make the 3 billion other men of the world look less degenerate in the eyes of their women. Honour killings in Albania? Well at least you were allowed to vote in that short period of time you called life. FGM in Somalia? Hey cheer up, you can still drive a car from Hargeisa to Mogadishu. -
Not even viagra has an effect on you lol.

Better stay clear from those energy supplements, they can do serious damage if your not careful. I drank a ginseng energy drink once, and when I tried to sleep 18 hours later, it felt like my heart was about to explode, and the veins on my arms were the biggest I had ever seen them. Scary!

^I went through a Ghibli phase in 2010, my favourites by far are Castle in the Sky and Howl. As for Ninja scroll, what's with the Japanese and rape scenes? Same thing happens in Wicked City, which is a great movie, but you got to fast-forward that ish at certain parts. I have yet to see anything topping this classic:

My comment wasn't directed towards you, secondly Palestine is an entire country under siege by a foreign power, most of Somalia's problems are self-inflicted, we are weak because of petty differences not because we neighbour superpowers, far from it. Our situation can be solved through compromise, while the Palestinian situation will still be there when our kids are grown ups thirty years from now.
-
Great initiative by the Federal Government, it stands firmly behind a popular cause in the Islamic world, a sentiment shared by the people of Somalia, and another nail in the coffin of Al-Shabaab's propaganda charade of fighting an apostate administration. Its amusing though to see the outcry by some members here when they have no respect for the government nor appreciate what it stands for. One little spat against your clan-interests and you'll be demanding for these MPs to be in Timbuktu, in Kathmandu, anywhere but your clan-state lol.

Juxa;892283 wrote: No Chimera, how can you expect others to respect you if you cant proudly display dhaqankaada DONT LET THE SUIT WEAR YOU There is a time and a place for that i.e Independence day celebrations, cultural festivals etc, if a foreign diplomat were to visit the capital on such a special day, then donning a traditional attire would make sense. However to wear it on a normal day is ridiculous, and a big problem amongst leaders of third world countries who can't seem to grasp that 'Politics' is an international tournament, a war, a game, a business. You're there to achieve maximum points, maximum victories, maximum gains and profits for your people and country. There is a universal dress-code amongst Politicians, much the same way there is a specific military uniform that is the universal dress-code amongst soldiers. There is no point in wearing a bilaawe and chain-mail just because a few centuries ago our ancestors used to do so. In any case, the the ensemble piece the Somali chieftains wear is something no Somali leader should don when receiving a foreign diplomat. I'd prefer the majestic white clothing:
-
The "suit" is the greatest male fashion ensemble piece of the last 10 thousand years. The Ancient Persians invented the trouser and coat, the Medieval Croatians gave birth to the tie, and the British combined all three and perfected it into the modern suit. There is nothing that can compare, nothing oozes the same professionalism, productiveness and sophistication. The Burmese leader looks like a degenerate farmer negiotiating corn for US dollars. No wonder none of the leaders of Asian superpowers like China and Japan ever receive foreign diplomats wearing traditional crap. They know politics means business, and they can play dress up in their spare time with their wives.

Somali youth more interested in the Gaza conflict
Chimera replied to oba hiloowlow's topic in General
oba hiloowlow;890588 wrote: I am sick and tired of seeing the Somali youth engaging in protests, twittering making fb updates about the Gaza conflict these couple of days they would never support their country and people the way they are defending Hamas and palestinians. smh I'm not, and I hope the number of young Somalis getting involved in the Palestinian situation increases 100-fold. From my personal experience every single pro-Palestine Somali boy/girl ended up being a great asset for Somalis/Somalia eventually. The Palestinian crisis opens the mind of a potential brain-dead tribalist groupie that you can see crawling all over Somalinet. Instead these pro-Palestine Somali youth with their leaflets, demonstrations and twitter updates slowly but surely realise the importance of 'unity' and understand the significance of 'having a recognised country'. A brain-dead tribalist groupie only recognises his/her crappy clan-chieftain, and does not understand the 'legacy of sovereignty' that his grandfathers/mothers left behind for him/her, which the Kurds, Native Americans, Assyrians, Chechens, Rohingas, Tibetans and Palestinians can only dream about. We need more Somali youth to expand their horizons, see the world is bigger than little dusty tuulo they boast to other Somalis. It would humble them, motivate them and more importantly set them on the right path.
