  2. Africown your protestations and line of arguments are very weird. Nobody here is defending gang-members or denying the police "knew" about them, the original point was about the many victims, three of which I provided in the previous page, who were non-affiliated, confirmed by both the community and the police. That the latter knew them for something else or not has no bearing on my point.
  3. AfricaOwn;935284 wrote: ^^^ You're the one that typed: "A Somali gang-banger knows all the places he should never be in by himself. This makes the recurring theme of an innocent person on the periphery getting killed due to gang-violence more than the gang-members themselves absolutely understandable " I just disagree And I typed the bolded part that you left out as well. Good job in twisting my words out of context. Nowhere did I proclaim all Somali men murdered in the last decade were "innocent", that was a knee-jerk reaction from Cara, and if that were to be the case, it would be absolutely understandable for the very reason I mentioned above. This doesn't mean a gang-banger can't find himself at the wrong place at the wrong time, because I never said that.

  6. Wadani;935268 wrote: This is required at times if warranted. If degenerate lifestyles arent stigmatized within our communities and those who adopt them aren't held responsible for the outcome of their actions (yes even death) the problem will only get worse. Cara made an illogical point. Non-affiliated Somali men do not operate with a mentality of street A belongs to gang X and street B belongs to gang Y so I must avoid them at all cost. A Somali gang-banger knows all the places he should never be in by himself. This makes the recurring theme of an innocent person on the periphery getting killed due to gang-violence more than the gang-members themselves absolutely understandable, and telling law-abiding men to join criminal organisation is not the solution. My point with the topic was that law-abiding Somali men should be more alert, and make sure they don't find themselves in such a situation.
  7. Guzel;935262 wrote: How about they get away from troubled cities? Somali parents should send their boys away to university in safer cities. 18 year old somali males cannot maintain the cost of a car even if they work, especially if they grew up in a welfare dependant house. They don't have to maintain it alone, the car could belong to the whole family. When the boy needs to go somewhere, be it getting groceries, college or football practice, he could just take the car. He could also pick up other Somali boys on the way to the pitch. The cost of topping up your oyster is super-expense, a week pass is now 20 pounds or something, and most Somali families have several sons, so that is several oyster cards. Somali mothers are also very resourceful, one hagbad should do it.
  8. Alpha Blondy;935241 wrote: HIGHLY inappropriate advice. Adams, you have good intentions. but for goodness sakes please suggest something a little more practical. do you think the money to purchase a car is going to fall out of the sky, inaar. wax fahan. secondly, death is a reality, inaar ee sida uula soco. we'll ALL experience its deadly flaws at some stage or another. you can't stay indoors because you're more likely to die. that's absurd. you CANNOT live you're life thinking you'll be the next victim of a stabbing. thirdly and finally, do you really think 16-18 years read this site? go and volunteer with your local youth centre and help them in more practical ways. Not surprised, if I say the sky is blue you will protest and tell me its pink. To any 18 year old, a second hand car is very much affordable, most Somali boys I know of that age group work at places like Subway, Mickeys, and Burger King during the weekend. This is only cautionary advice, considering the neighbourhood Somalis live in, its not exactly little Chelsea is it? The culture of hanging outside in the evening, or at the mall serves no purpose to any Somali boy aspiring to achieve something in life. And yes, 16 and 18 year olds do read this forum, so I would suggest you fix your attitude and modus operandi on SOL before you do permanent damage.
  9. A few days ago a promising young Somali boy was brutally murdered in Edmonton, London and from what I understand the boy had no gang ties, it was simply a case of wrong place/wrong time. Two groups clashed at a Kebab shop according to the news, one of them was a Somali group. The non-Somali group returned an hour later and most likely shot the first Somali male they saw. This is becoming quite a problem for the majority of us Somali men who aren't part of these Somali gangs that are expanding rapidly in traditional Afro-Carribean, Asian and White gang territories. To the latter, any Somali male between the ages of 14 and 30 is a potential recruit and a potential enemy, and some will provoke you into a fight, or worse. One of the things I would suggest to the brothers above 18 (or 16 in some countries) is to get a car. This form of technology is the safest way to travel because walking on the streets, and waiting at the bus-stops are the most common flash-points for potential altercations. To the brothers below 18, I would recommend they invested in a Playstation-3 or an X-Box and just avoid going outside after 7 o'clock in the evening. Do not feel emboldened because you're hanging with a group of mates, look at every fatal stabbing in London, almost of every single one of these victims were with their mates, and the latter all ran. If you have football practice, make sure the route home is a safe one, even if you have to take a detour.

I already told him that, but the brother is busy with other projects as well. SOL is probably the biggest Somali forum though, with 11000+ members. If he's not getting support here he won't get it anywhere else. Ps; do you have long and thick curly hair with a pretty face? Not hitting on you, serious question.
  13. Well this is demoralising, so many views yet no support. Brother is in the wrong profession, or catering to a non-existent audience.

Naxar Nugaaleed;935083 wrote: ^ lol @ che lets not forget that this pm has been busy causing discord between people in this places his been visiting: Galmudug and Jubaland regions are now suspicious, there have been fighting in marka and might be one in gedo. There are far pressing stuff for this government to do then tours of any kind. from the little i can gleam, there are only two ministries functioning, foreign and interior. one is busy causing problems and the other has yet to reopen any embassies as far as I can till or reclaim national assets. Good luck though, if this government fails god knows if there is any hope for Somalia. The embassies in Belgium, Germany, Kenya, Qatar, Turkey, Malaysia, France, Italy etc have all been reopened or are under major renovation, The government is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, engage every part of the country covering Zeila all the way to Kamboni and this is the first government with that kind of clout since 1991. In 2014, the military will take over security and the economy will be up and running pumped with the investment gathered during the coming joint Somalia-UK hosted economic conference.
  15. Very interesting! What happens during those classes with the husband?
  16. Classified;935068 wrote: I couldn't agree more. At least some male artists are bearable to listen to, but the modern Somali female artists are all garbage. Some went as far as using what T-Pain uses to change his vocal, which completely destroys any originality. I hate autotune, I remember Mo Farah once send K'naan a tweet with a Farhiya Kabayare song he liked, and I was like nooooooooo!! LOL, that song was 99% autotune, 1% normal voice. Now millions of their ajanabi fans saw it too lol.

The funny thing about this is that currently marwo Fawzia Y. Adam is acting out the responsibilities of the PM domestically in Somalia while the Prime-Minister is on a international tour, and still no difference on the Federal policy with regards to the Jubba situation. While you single out President Hassan, you ignore his larger team all synchronized and playing professional chess. This however is a HISTORIC week for Somali women, and those that wish them well for they are only a step away from the big seat..
  18. All Somali singers, male and female need to invest in vocal-coaches. Their voices would upgrade significantly. Never heard a proper falsetto in a Somali song, not even the ladies, evendo we know they can, see Amaal Nuux.

Is there a market for that? One can hire the actors, buy the cameras and kodak film in bulk, order the dresses and costumes, import historic cars and start shooting the film, but will there be a return for the initial investment? I recently learned why we lack a robust entertainment industry; the interest and support is simply not there. Its why all of the successful Somalis are all either targeting the non-Somali market, or rose from a non-Somali platform. A real pity.
