  9. James you are member of the Somali forum also known as the Somali troll-heaven. You have seen how corrupt this conflict has made young teenagers thousands of miles away from the conflict, you have observed countless of threads where the most inhumane incidents are used as a 'diss' towards another group Somalis are a 'shame driven society' not a guilt driven society ,a very complexed one if i may add, some will do everything they can to hide or supress any non flattering accussations thrown at an entity they feel close to and this could be a warlord, a government or an artist on the run. The government officials are scum they are similar to members of the maffia, in the case of the latter you would never ask yourself why one of it's members wouldn't speak out against the actions of the 'family'. From this point of view should you view the TFG and it's supporters there is a silent majority and they are the ones opening doors to their fellow brethren who have just lost everything, they are the ones (as i said before in a different topic) keeping children in schools and building hospitals. They are the ones risking their own lives to report the inhumane attrocities that are being inflicted on the masses( those responsible are pretty pissed off with these brave reporters) Thing is ten unarmed doctors are not as powerfull as two armed wastedumpers, twenty male and female teachers are not as powerfull as two militia men, Somali entrepreneurs setting up security companies will not make the roadblocks dissappear but if all of them supported honest community leaders this could result in the destruction of warlordism but community leaders are not equipped to deal with invading foreign mercenary armies When the geo-political landscape of the world changes and neighbouring and homegrown dictators have no piggybank to cash on this silent majority will hit HARD and DECISIVE and all those responsible regardless of their background will pay!
  10. where can i listen? cause honestly i have never followed anything: BBC SOMALI
  11. To the world Christianity = Whiteman's religion To the Somali world Christianity = Ethiopian religion If colonialists in a span of three decades could only manage to convert a few dozen Somalis( and those did it for commercial reasons according to G Hanley) i don't see how the topic ''title'' is realistic
  12. Very sad to hear this news sister, i hope your brother and his friends get well and make a full recovery Insha-allah may the mob responsible for this face justice!
  13. When the boxer rebellion was put down by a coalition of Foreign nations Chinese pride was crushed and at a all time low especially with the news that certain Chinese groups were collaborating with these countries the chinese people did not despise their own heritage because there were myopic traitors, hypocrites amongst them they simply bounced back and even under occupation many Chinese martial artists stomped the bejesus out of foreign fighters out to humiliate Chinese fighters and they rebuild Chinese pride in the eyes of the masses there are enough Somalis with love for their own people, they are ones keeping children in schools, building hospitals, providing shelter, sending money to those that are not part of their so-called clans Somalis will bounce back there are countries that dwarf Somalia in human suffering and traitorism 60,000,000–72,000,000 - World War II (1939–1945), (see World War II casualties)[38][39] 30,000,000–60,000,000 - Mongol Conquests (13th century) (see Mongol invasions and Tatar invasions)[40][41][42][43] 25,000,000 - Manchu conquest of Ming China (1616–1662)[44] 20,000,000–70,000,000 - World War I (1914–1918) (see World War I casualties) note that the larger number includes Spanish flu deaths 20,000,000 - Taiping Rebellion (China, 1851–1864) (see Dungan revolt)[45] 20,000,000 - Second Sino-Japanese War (1931–1945)[46] 10,000,000 - Warring States Era (China, 475 BC–221 BC) 7,000,000 - 20,000,000 Conquests of Timur the Lame (1360-1405) (see List of wars in the Muslim world)[47][48] 5,000,000–9,000,000 - Russian Civil War (1917–1921)[49] 5,000,000 - Conquests of Menelik II of Ethiopia (1882- 1898)[50][51] 3,800,000 - Second Congo War (1998–2004)[52] 3,500,000–6,000,000 - Napoleonic Wars (1804–1815) (see Napoleonic Wars casualties) 3,000,000–11,500,000 - Thirty Years' War (1618–1648)[53] 3,000,000–7,000,000 - Yellow Turban Rebellion (China, 184–205) 2,500,000–3,500,000 - Korean War (1950–1953) (see Cold War)[54] 2,300,000–3,800,000 - Vietnam War (entire war 1945–1975) 2,000,000–4,000,000[55] - French Wars of Religion (1562–1598) (see Religious war) 2,000,000 - Shaka's conquests (1816-1828)[56] 300,000–3,000,000[57] - Bangladesh Liberation War 1,500,000–2,000,000 - Afghan Civil War (1979 -) 1,000,000–1,500,000 Soviet intervention (1979–1989) 1,300,000–6,100,000 - Chinese Civil War (1928–1949) note that this figure excludes World War II casualties 1,000,000–2,000,000 - Mexican Revolution (1910–1920)[58] 1,000,000 - Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988) 1,000,000 - Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598)[59] 1,000,000 - Second Sudanese Civil War (1983–2002) 1,000,000 - Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970) 618,000[60] - 970,000 - American Civil War (including 350,000 from disease) (1861–1865) 900,000–1,000,000 - Mozambique Civil War (1976–1993) 868,000[61] - 1,400,000[62] - Seven Years' War (1756-1763) 800,000 - 1,000,000 - Rwandan Civil War (1990-1994) 800,000 - Congo Civil War (1991–1997) 600,000 to 1,300,000 - First Jewish-Roman War (see List of Roman wars) 580,000 - Bar Kokhba’s revolt (132–135CE) 570,000 - Eritrean War of Independence (1961-1991) 550,000 - Somali Civil War (1988 - ) 500,000 - 1,000,000 - Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) 500,000 - Angolan Civil War (1975–2002) 500,000 - Ugandan Civil War (1979–1986)
  14. He and other Eastern European Somalist scholars are the only positive legacy of the Somalia-Soviet Union friendship
  15. what a fool, i bet he could make the same kind of money legally from 2007 till 2021(his jail time) if he simply had some patience and used his head a good lawyer could make 500k a year multiply that x 14 and you have 7million$ - 1million$(probably his expenditures over a period of 14 years) and you have 6million$ + a LIFE + a beautiful wife + children and no stress or fear of getting caught 3 years of living the high life is not worth it and when he comes out in 2021 he will have no job no life no nothing, what a waste! same goes for those youth
  16. Adal=Awdal, Ibn Dimashqi in the 13th century stated that Awdal was the local name of the 'Lands of Zeila' this same name was still in use by the Somali population when Burton explored the region in the 19th century and continues to be used today Somali-Afars simply worked together and build a vast empire just like there sharing a country today but there is a tendency for people on the Internet(ex:wiki) to omitt or downplay the BIG role Somali people played in that state because of their obvious animosity for the Somali people
  17. Yesterday i walked from the Kebab shop to my home but made a pittstop(no not peeing, resting!) at the park first and enjoyed a nice game of football played by Somali youth my age then i walked home, everything was so calm and peacefull no stress just serenity and the weather was nice not too warm not too cold my greatest desire is to do this one day in Somalia with 1 billion$ in my bank to make it even nicer.
  18. i miss read that part, but are there any references(besides potentially Avalites) with the Djibouti area?

  20. ala this James is hurting my head i hate math lol the distance between Massawah and Djibouti alone is 605km and from Djibouti to Borama(same area as Zeila) is 176km = 780km + 40km = 820km Massawah to Assab with 40km extra = around 500 km if ''From Adulis to Avalites is 4000 Stadia, or 667 km'' than we have it around 150 km to close for it to be Assab and 150km to far for it to be Zeila damn it it's a draw lol Mogadishu was never part of any Persian or Arab power, Chittick's Shirazi colonization of the East African coast has been refuted all of his claims were based on imported foreign pottery lol there were Arab and Persian 'migrations' but those weren't any different from the ones that happened during the Ajjuuraan Period they were usually employed as religious advisers or mercenaries(See Virginia Luling Somali Sultanate) not even during the zenith of the Omani Empire was Mogadishu part of this entity(yes a brief occupation after the collapse of the Ajjuuraan Empire but no real colonization or settlement). These same Omani rulers had to grovel Geledian sultans with gifts to get a garrison greenlighted in Mogadishu to protect their own interests Inscriptions with Persian names have been found in Mogadishu but those were craftsman employed as architects calling it a Persian colony based on this would be just as absurd as calling the Mughals Persians evendo there was more Persianization happening there(lingua franca, culture,Taj Mahal etc etc)
  21. Originally posted by ThePoint: quote: Mogadishu during it's first Golden Age was a Berber city and it's rulers were Berbers(Somalis) How do you prove that? There is a lack of information on this at least from what I'm familiar with. History is always vague and based on multiple disciplines(:Archeaology, writing, antropology etc) scholars use come to a consensus in this case we know: -Ancestors of the Somali people were present in this area well before Ibn Battuta's arrival Human graves(first practiced in Somalia) with the same skeleton build as present day Somalis date back to the Holoscene era and remains of Pastoralists from the Hargeisan period in the North and Doian period in the South are well documented by Steve Brandt -Berberi was used as a sobriquet for Somalis in Ibn Battuta's time and as late as the 18/19th century in some quarters of Somalia -As we have said, the Sultan of Mogadishu is called Shaikh by his subjects. His. name is Abu Bakr ibn Shaikh Omar, and by race he is a Berber-Ibn Battuta -The Sultan did not speak Arabic or Persian(Languages Ibn Battuta is familiar with) but spoke a local Language, Swahili was not a developed language in that time period but Somali was(meaning a considerable period had past since the splitting off Af Somali from other East-cushitic languages like Af Afar and Af Oromo) Among minor points it may be noted that the Maqdishi language was doubtless Somali and not Swahili-G.W.B. Huntingford
  22. huh? 1 stadia = ~200 m | 5 stadia = 1km | 5000 stadia = 1000km | a 1000 stadia = ~200km the Djbouti coastline alone is 314 km so you need alot more than a 1000 stadia to make it from Assab to Saylac who's distance from eachother is around 500/600 km Zang is the persian name for the Greek Azania, Mogadishu was founded by Cushites who's presence in that area through archaeology has been marked as early as the 1st century AD Mogadishu during it's first Golden Age was a Berber city and it's rulers were Berbers(Somalis) and this continued from the Ajjuuraans to the Geledians Zenj is just a geographic name not a political entity just like Habash became a geographic name later on in the Islamic period same with the word ''Swahili'' which is now used to designate certain peoples with hybrid languages evendo it meant ''coastal people'' and Somali people fell/fall under the original definition btw Afar are cool people ,love them we should import one and make him/her president lol
  23. 'Zand Afrik Shah' was a third century King in Northeast Somalia that had relations with the Persian ruler Narseh[1] again Somalist scholars and their studies regarding pre-Islamic Somalia is pathetic and outdated, you bet this Kingdom will be illuminated in the near future
