Osman Yusuf Mohamed is a Somali Archaeologist with a PHD who has done great things with his collegue Steve Brandt in shedding light on Pre-historic Somalia, Ahmed Dualeh Jama is another Somali archaeologist with numerous publications and books on his name regarding Somalia, most notably being: The Origins and development of Mogadishu AD 1000 -1800.He is part of a larger team called the Somali Archaeology Research Unit, i doubt he is the only Somali in S.A.R.U since many Somali students studying at home and in the Soviet Union specialized themselves in that field since the Somali-Soviet expedition of 1971 and again i doubt our Somali sisters who were Soldiers,Pilots,Doctors etc etc in our country somehow did not take the same path regarding this particular field so ThePiont is correct for highlighting the incorrect statement made by that editor which is a perfect example of how lazyness often leads to ignorance Well done Sada Mire may more Sisters and brothers follow your example Insha-allah!

^Stability is all we need btw there alot of xaasids out there seeking to sabotage and destroy anything good in Somalia which is why articles like this one or stories about patriotic men and women keeping the country afloat are dangerous because they become a target

Somalia for centuries was feeding itself and the Middle East. In fact in the 60s/70s and early 80s Somalia was one of the few African countries that was self sufficient and capable of flooding food into regions suffering from drought. Then donor countries began giving aid to the late dictator in the form of ''food''(a scheme many African countries have suffered from) and this increased with each year which eventually killed the lively Somali agricultural industry when the government collapsed and famine hit us there wasn't a strong farming society in place that could prevent it from escalating and consequently all of our harvests failed miserably this accompanied by instability is chaos. So these donor countries are as much responsible for our people's famine as the dictatorship and the rebels that followed it are. Livestock Somaliland and Puntland have both signed deals last year with Gulf states that will see the export of 12 million heads of livestock from Somalia which will bring in 1 or 2 billion $ a year. Shifting to markets like China and India should be a priority cause this will allow Somali traders to continue their business even when other markets impose a ban Telecommunications Though struggling with a crumbling infrastructure this industry is more advanced and connected than it's counterparts in most of the African continent. Somali construction companies should organize community fund raising events both at home and the diaspora which will see the construction of important projects that will benefit all communities Oil Basins If this is handled well and no sneaky backdoor stuff, it will boost the economy into space. These potential lucrative areas should be protected by the locals untill they are sure they will benefit from it. Agriculture As i said before this industry is the most important cause it has the capability of feeding the whole of East Africa and the middle east if there is investment and no interference of foreign companies/NGO's seeking to flood the markets with free stuff Transport Kenyan and Djibouti ports only saw new life when the Somali ports closed. Before the civil war the merchant marine fleet of Somalia according to one economist journal was the largest in the Muslim world. China,Vietnam and several other countries that had difficulties shipping their products because of sanctions were shipping under the Somali flag for years. We have a giant coast line therefore taking back our medieval and pre-civil war status as the natural transition point between Africa and the Middle East/Asia is a must. The most beautiful thing of the Somali economy is the fact it's all 'Somali owned' therefore when stability returns there will be a strong foundation in place Insha-allah

Today i saw something interesting parked in the front house, something i hadn't seen or noticed for a long time, it had two wheels with the title MADMAX. I looked at it for a minute then proceeded to enter the house, as i walked in i saw a small key on the table, i looked at it and then...dropped everything. BAM..i was for the first time in many - many - many years riding a bicycle, yeah it was horrible because of the weather(and because it was one those annoying mountainbikes belonging to my younger brother) but still it gave me a 'adrenaline kick' and all my spider senses were still active it's like i was still that same small kid living in a tiny town in Holland who used to cycle to the next two or three towns and play with the Dutch kids there while his mother thought he was in the backyard ohh i used to get radio cable beating for that xanuun badaneeee but it was worth it cause i did it again and again and again share your cycling experiences and when was the last time you were on a bike?

I once heard of a Somali couple(note:hearsay) who had a nice big wedding. Then there were cheers and waves as they stepped into their limousine only to be driven to the wrong place they arrived home hours and a few married-couples-fights later and slept in different beds on their wedding night (but there still together though) keep it simple

I don't see how my reply warrants an extended lol. The situation in Somalia is similar to the one in Iraq. Any person that has taken the time to analyze & process the situation of that country regarding it's brutal American&co occupation and it's seccesionist enclaves will never in their right mind utter the words; there should be a return to Ottoman administration or a British mandate. A person has to be mentally retarded not to see the real issue's at hand unless we are dealing with individuals who in their writings or copy&pasting reveal a glimpse of the xaasidnimo sheltering deep down in their hearts which is very sad, so that's what i think of the content in that link.

Since your a one/two liner i'll keep it short sxb, it's called a Mandate(see kingdom of Iraq)

Technically Southern Somalia was no longer a colony since 1950 when it became a UN trusteeship at that date. Secondly there is a reason why Northern Somalia received it's independence in 1960. (A) It was agreed upon by the UN council in 1950 that Southern Somalia would move out of the trusteeship in 1960. (B) SYL lobbyists(who btw were lobbying for a Greater Somalia which had British parlementarian support untill the US put down it's weight and backed Haile Sellasie) were calling for the independence of all Somali territories in the 50s These two situations convinced the British government to synchronize the date of it's protectorate's independence with that of the Trusteeship. If these two factors weren't in play Northern Somalia would have seen a similar independence date as a country like Kenya(1963) The fact that there's only a 5 days space between the two dates is more credit to the beforementioned A&B factors(deliberate synchronization). So it's unwise to use this miniscule time differences to support your argument for a seperate country since all original plans for Northern Somalia were either Greater Somalia or Union with Southern Somalia( think about; if as you say Somaliland was intended to be an independent country why did it so quikly agree upon Unity if this was not the reason allready for independence?). Don't believe me here is some corroboration: As there was no plans to grant early Independence to the territory, progress towards self government was slow untill the second half of the fifties. Around that time, however the pace was greatly accelerated chiefly to the growth of nationalist movement and the approaching date of independence in the Trustee ship -The Somali Republic: An Experiment in Legal Intergration pg 4 In February 1960 a Legislative council was elected by Universal adult male suffrage. On April 6 this council unaninamously passed a resolution stating its desires to recieve independence before 1 july, so that the country could be united with Somalia when it became independent -Encyclopedia Americana pg 251 Conclusion walaalyaal it was not as if Northern Somalia received it's independence and then said ohh let's join our brothers in the South no! this Union was a pre-requisite to receiving independence from Britain so there was no different view/mentality regarding the political landscape of Somalia it was Unity from the start and had the trusteeship ended in 1975 Northern Somalia wouldn't have received it's independence untill that date
