Originally posted by Kool_Kat: Adam, not only those who went to Xaawa Taako or Yusuf Kowneyn can write Somali the proper way...My younger sis never went to school in Somalia as she was only three years old when we left, and Mashallah, I always feel like a proud parent to say she is fluent is Somali (both written/spoken}...And don't even get me started on those who went to school in Somali, kuwaasaaba ugu daran... KK i'm happy to hear that sis, i wish i was the same as your little sister. I remember when i was young whenever martii came to our house i would run to my room and stay there till they left, the few times they catched me sneaking to the kitchen were horrible moments, those old ladies would pull me in and start interrogate me in Af Somali, oh the horror it's funny now i think about it, they would ask me questions like: Warya Mii ii taqaanta? markii unuug eheed waan ku so hambaray.......* i would just smile away* deep down i was thinking WOMAN act normal..i have no recollection of my baby days how in the HELL would i remember you?

Yeah Somalia has problems that stimulates poverty hence sisters who have lost everything will look for the brother that has 'everything'(a place like Japan has everything a person could dream off and more but you can still find girls that go specificly after foreigners both Japanese diasporic men and non Japanese men but they are a minority just like in our case) not all Somali women in Somalia are women without a large family network. many of them have the opportunity to leave Somalia(my female relatives at least) but there not interested, could it be that they love their life as it is? could it be they want to raise a family in a place they grew up as kids? seriously i don't think most people consider Somali women as 'individuals' with their own minds capable of doing things any normal person can, just a while ago my friend was laughing at loud at a passing car and i asked why are you laughing and he was like: that was a Somali woman driving that car and he continued laughing, i personally inside was quite shocked but it did reveal something to me and that is our sisters are underestimated in many ways. In this case there love for Somalia and a born and bred brother is underestimated

I was a toddler, but that's really irrelevant to the discussion (unless you think that my absence on the ground by default somehow disqualifies me from knowing the social system of Somalia?) I have many female relatives in Somalia and over here i know sisters who barely speak a word english and there not in the least bit clinging on to the first western man they find Somalia is not Thailand EDIT: Ibtisam aniga dad badaan garanaya oo Somaaliya xaas la'aan ka so nooqtayn, waxkasto ka maqleyso through the Somali grapevine wa generalization x 100. Af xumo wa qataar sister, example: maanta qofkasto uu meelenaya gabdaha persian wa easy because of generalization, ma saas rabta Dumarka Somaalida la ka hadlo?(it's allready like that on the net)

I don't like some of the comments made here: Somali women don't just marry any Tom,Dick or Harry that visit Somalia, the family network is more connected there than anywhere else in the Somali World. They have standards just like any other female group on this planet, i'm sure if you worked more on your confidence and self esteem they would notice you but if your thinking they will grovel at your feet as some are suggesting here than you will be a very disappointed brother for sure. Btw I personally don't think Somali men have distant or very very distant relatives or friends of the family trying to hitch them to one of their daughters all the time, in my case the older Somali ladies that were making these comparisons were doing it simply out of fun Let me re-iterate Somali women are 'women' they are not more 'special' or less 'special' than other female muslim groups when it comes to love & relationships, If one of my friends brother could hitch with a Pakistani muslimah( a group who's male relatives are notorious for rejecting pious African brothers) than you should have no problem hitching with a Somali muslimah my tip for you is: Learn the Language

A Somali mother about 5 or 6 years ago turned my childhood friend in to people that deal with problem-kids after she found 2 scooters in the garage, lots of money in his pants and a continues funky smell surrounding him (weed) God bless her, he turned his life around I don't know if sending a young person to jail or those juvenile - delinquent orientated institutions(unless they have committed a serious offensive like buuxo's example) will have a positive effect on the troublesome teenager. Sometimes they return home much worse and with a phonebook full of shady connections

Originally posted by Abtigiis & Tolka: ^ make no mistake. I will never ever tone down my hate and loathing to Abysinnian rulers. The people of Ethiopia are good and god-fearing humans, perhaps more closer to Somali in many ways than any other race. But their rulers have continously displayed a policy of destruction and enemity towards Somali's. The current one is perhaps the worst. Charity begins at home and the "overflowing love" Meles has for Somalia and his attempt to "reconstruct" its people, should have been due more on the suffering Somali's in Somaligalbeed. No regime has killed, maimed and molested the pride of Somali's than that of Meles. The war in Somalia is only one phase of a long war of liberation that is yet to come. There will be no peace until the people of Somaligalbeed finally manage to deterimne who they want to be. We have never been Ethiopians, we are not Ethiopians and we will NEVER be Ethiopians. WE are Somali's and we will join a great and proud Somali nation. For all the redicule my emotions might evoke, and for all the 'what an Idealist' chants I hear in my sub-conscious, I have no doubt that dream will come along as real one day. I may not be there to see it though. The determination of my people and the anger of the youth (who are sentenced to deaths at will in kangaroo courts) on a daily basis assures me of the inevitability of that victory!! If Somali's wish not to count us as worthy brothers who need their support, or at least their sympathy, I only see them as brothers who are wronging another brother. It will never diminish my love and longing for them. Somaliweyn is not a dream of the fools!!!! -
Insha-allah and take your time bro!

yeah brutally affected, got me really down for a while cause i was almost finished, i don't know if young people can have heart attacks but what i felt when i discovered everything was gone was probably the closest thing to it - i was schocked - but i know a person who knows how to get it all back by running a 'recover files program' (that's how the police catches criminals cause deleted material is still somewhere in your hard-disk) i'm not allowed to touch anything for the time being (but i am on cloud 9 at the moment after hearing that good news )

Elo! A victim of a virus-attack logically will try to get rid of the virus, some do a 'system restore' and make the computer return to a previous good configuration and others do a 'system recovery'. If you do the latter know this - it's a whole new platform - but the thing you have to be carefull for is; though the damn program tells you nothing will happen to your files, in most cases you will end up with all your work deleted. Therefore make sure all your important documents and images are stored in USB's or floppy disks before you do a system recovery

I hate hip hop culture and i wonder what that old lady was thinking cause she experienced all the major events of African American progress from R-PRK to MLK to MLCM-X. This incident must have been very painfull. It's sick how this disgusting hip hop culture is eclipsing real black music and musicians lol@pressing charges btw when you encounter a person like that, you should talk in a different language - they will think your crazy and will leave you alone ex: a friend of mine and i were in a supermarket somewhere in 2001 and suddenly this weird Antillian guy with dreadlocks walked towards us and started talking but neither of us understood a damn thing - so my friend started talking in his native language which is moluccan - the Antillian guy looked at him with his red eyes for a second and then walked away

yeah was a real schock that sting, i didn't expect that cause i was in a good mood, kinda like what happened to me and my brother when we were young and felt like making Fish sticks. He put oil in the pan but instead of putting the pan on the fire he put the oil bottle there and a giant flame blinded the both of us and it left a big black mark on the ceiling lol he blamed it on me
