  1. Such petty behaviour in this topic, fact is both the government and the Islamists allowed this to happen AGAIN, they could have prevented this transgression if they had burried their axes/differences and had the best interests of the masses in mind by joining forces which would have destroyed any excuse for the re-equipped/US funded Ethiopia to enter the fold, but we are not dealing with visionary men but with stubborn nimcampoops abusing the sovereignty of Somalia, it's people and the religion of Islam in their quest for more power and blood.
  2. Kashafa Al-Shabab has become an obstacle for peace, how many more hundreds of people have to die every week for you to realise that? How many more hundreds of thousand of people have to flee for you to realise this? They are making more enemies than friends with their extreme behaviour, instead of building hospitals and schools they are destroying centuries old monuments considered very important by locals in places such as Kismayo, how could they ever reconcile the divided people of Somalia when they behave in such a disrespectful way? They can't!! they lack diplomacy and plain respect for others. Our enemies will never stop putting fuel on our fire. Somalia has too many enemies while at same time it is currently in no position to repulse the tactics of these enemies. The way forward is to join the government and cleanse it from foreign influences from the inside out and rebuild infrastructure, the military, institutions etc(have you forgotten about these important things?), only then can we repulse our enemies, cause unlike countries such as Iran and N-Korea, Somalia has been in a civil war for over a decade and didn't enjoy the stability the aforementioned countries had before they put up a resistance against the influences and pressures of the West. I don't want Somalia after a civil war to evolve into the situation of Afghanistan(if it hasn't already) where domestic and foreign militants, government soldiers and multiple Western armies are destroying what's left of the country including the people.

And I have been reading the stories ppl wrote about going to school, it's all very helpful (and also funny [/QB] Your welcome K, and having your character's origin in the South is realistic, because you have to understand that Mogadishu was a cosmopolitan city where Somalis from all over East Africa had their businesses, went to school or simply enjoyed life in a peacetime Somalia, many of those families and individuals with the breakout of the war either fled to other parts of the country or established the Somali diaspora. Good luck with your research and book, if you have more questions ask away! Paragon amazing picture isn't it? Sunny weather, beautiful sisters chatting, a Police officer on patrol through the community, in the distance several Farah's enjoying the shade and the nice view of the aforementioned sisters, priceless
  7. Welcome to the forum K, none of the names you mentioned have anything to do with clans they are indeed universal names in Somalia. I wasn't born yet in the 60s/70s so there is no personal experience of that period that i could share with you but from the stories i heard from my parents you would think it was a Paradise on earth, some images that might give you a sense of that time: Make sure you take a look at this:Photo gallery and read the comments of members of this forum who grew up in Somalia and went to school there.
  8. Thanks for those translations MMA, very interesting!
  9. post more examples so i can practice with you Sherban, my Somali skills are lacking aswell and my brain shuts down whenever i read more than 2 paragraphs of a news story in Somali, and don't get me started on newsanchors or radio presenters they sound like there in a hurry to get home for some Hiliib and Maraq and therefore have to read news stories ultrafast, so your not alone there my friend.. here is my attempt at those four sentences: Warqaadka ninka arkhiyay wa dheeryahay Dhaqtarka qoray waarqadka niinka arkhiinayaaaa(lol) Niinku warqaadka arkhiyay uu dhimtay Niinku uu heelay dhaqatarkii warqaadkan qoray to the experts find the typo's so i can correct them.
  10. Ismahaan well said sister! here are some examples of Somali Art:
  11. Sister1000 let me apologize for Lt-Qalbi-Adeyg, secondly i do think it's best that you married a person from your own ethnic group, because if one forum can turn you off, imagine what would happened if you and your Somali husband received those type of comments in real life?, clearly you need to be a person that can withstand ignorance and bigotry, it's those type of interracial relationships that last. wish you well. btw why are half of the replies in his topic in Af Somali? It's rude for me because i only understand half of it and even worse for our Pakistani sister who understands none of it, be considerate!
  12. Somalis have been living in the Somali peninsula since the Doian (South)/Hargeisan (North) periods 6000 years ago, the ancient graves that 19th century Somalis said were build by Galaada(pagans/non-b elievers) is a reference to the non-muslim Somalis of antiquity and not Oromos or other groups as sometimes erroneously is claimed. The skull measurements from those graves were similar to those of 19th century Somali muslim skulls and different from those of Oromos. Climatic changes in a timespan of several thousand years is what enticed Somalis to go back and forth throughout the Horn of Africa, matter fact modern geneticists claim Somali ancestry can be traced back to an Ancient population from Egypt migrating to Somalia: The M78 subclade of E1b1b is found in about 77% of Somali males which may represent the traces of an ancient migration into the Horn of Africa from the upper Egypt area - Sanchez et al the Bantu expansion never reached the Horn of Africa, so there presence in Somalia is mainly due to slavery. There are however indiginous minor groups in the Horn of Africa that have been there for a long time though, but they speak a non-Bantu language and there is no evidence they have been there as long as say the ancestors of the majority populations of the Horn of Africa I hope they have nice prospereous lives, that bit about them naming villages after places in Somalia cuts deep in the heart of any Wadani, wars are messed up, nothing is the way it was.

    nuclear war

S-Korea and N-Korea were ripped apart by the US and the USSR after WWII. The latter Superpower is dead and the former is still playing hegemon by alienating the Kim regime with its sanctions and international pressure which adds to the fire and has caused the death of millions in the last decade alone. Fact is Japan/China/USA dont want to see a United Korea because a S-Korea with its amazing economic might and a North Korea with its military might combined into one state = a regional power capable of repulsing Sino-Japanese-USA hegemony of East Asia
  18. I wash my hair once a week, every Sunday. This will be the reason why my hair is still going to be nice when i'm 45 compared to the rest of you guys in this topic who will be bald with your homemade remedies and daily hairwashing I have a theory: Somali men have better hair than Somali women. This theory is 12 years old: It was early morning on the special day of Eid when young Adam noticed his female siblings screaming in agony while Hoyoo combed their hair, his female siblings then observed how smoothly the comb went through little Adam's hair who quikly processed 'why' he was surrounded by several pairs of 'evil eyes' yep sound theory
  19. I have a strong connection with Somalia spiritually, evendo the time i spent there as a tiny toddler was little and the decade and half+ old memmories have simply become blury images. I'm sometimes reminded of my experience in that magical place through smells, like the smell of grass in a park after a warm day always reminds of Somalia. Other triggers to the past are family members who i havent seen in years but are intricitly connected with my view of old Somalia. Myth or no myth I just dont see myself living for the rest of my life in the West, there is just to much that attracts me to Somalia.
