It almost ruined the relationship between Hayao and his son Goro who directed the film. These movies really transport you into new worlds, which is something many blockbusters have failed to achieve. I have only seen it once, and it felt really surreal. Before I saw the film, I remember laughing when I read stories about individuals wanting to kill themselves when they realised planet Earth looks nothing like Pandora. Though, I have no intention in killing myself I do wish I could visit that place.

To each their own i would say, i personally can't stand movies like 'Beautiful mind, 'Perfect murder, 'Vanilla Sky, or teen flicks like 'John must die'(the entire cast needs to die damn it) and we were flooded with these type of films the last couple years. I look for escapism not a Alcatraz prison of nonsense gibberish. I'm into 'creepy/supernatural/fantasy/end of the world' type of stuff, if i wanted philosphy & 'deep thinking', i would pick up a book. 2011 is a good year for Super Heroes.

Great Special effects, though the story was predictable it was not bad, and the action balanced it out. One thing i really disliked, is how the lead actor's avatar got the big flying creature so easily and how they suddenly forgave him for everything that happened when they saw him with it. I don't care how many or few legendary warriors accmplished that great feat, it just looks weird, and makes the whole disaster that happened to their tree city look so trivial. I think him struggling a good amount of time with that beast, and in the process losing that smaller creature to it, would have been better. He could then come to the rescue of the Na'vi people as they are being attack by a single stalking/scouting human ship. Atleast then he would have redeemed himself. I liked the human commander, its like he walked straight out of the film ''Small soldiers''. All in all great piece of cinematic history.
