Somaliland elders extend President Kahin's rule By Hussein Ali Noor Friday, September 25, 2009 HARGEISA, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Clan elders in northern Somalia's breakaway enclave of Somaliland voted on Friday to extend President Dahir Riyale Kahin's term on condition that a voter list be finalised and a date set for a presidential election. It was the third time since April 2008 that Somaliland's upper House of Elders has extended Kahin's term, which was due to expire on Oct. 29. Opposition politicians in the lower House of Representatives have demanded the president be impeached. Somaliland has enjoyed relative peace compared with the rest of Somalia since the Horn of Africa nation descended into chaos in 1991. But repeated delays to the presidential poll have worried rights groups and donors, as well as angered the opposition. Suleiman Mohamoud Aden, chairman of the House of Elders, called for a vote after an all-night discussion of what he called the "delicate situation" and potential power vacuum. "We want you to vote for the extension of the president's term based on the completion of the voter list by the international technical committee and the fixing of the election date with the national electoral commission," Aden said. All of the 77 other members then present voted to extend Kahin's term to last for one month after the ballot, whenever that might be. A poll set for July was put back to Sept. 27, but the electoral commission postponed it again earlier this month. The commission said it had ordered the latest delay because of rising concerns about whether a fair vote could be held in a political climate inflamed by disputes over the voter register. Even in Iraq, After the Sunni tribe has seized to support AL Qaida, the group has become a sect that operates mainly in the underground while before they controled/governed huge cities (Faluja) and even provinces. Today, the group is mainly engaged in driving trucks filled with bombs in crowds of Iraqi civilians. No single direct battle with the Foreign troops, only cowardly suicide operations against Iraqi civilians.

I am amazed at the cowardice of men like Osama Bin Laden and his Arab men who came to Afganistan and attracted trouble for a stable and peacefull country. Currently, only the (Southern) Pashtun tribe which mainly is sympatatetic to the Taliban, are fiercly fighting against a coalition of NATO troops and others. After 7 years, and the Taliban is still undefeated and getting stronger. Were is Alqaida and the men Osama was training? Why arent they on the forefront of the war with NATO? The worst kind of people in this world are those hypocrites and cowards. Insha Allah, they will not succeed in turning our beloved country of Somalia into a safe haven to attract trouble and than dissapear faster than snow in a hot desert.

Look at the facial expression of the people, no single adult is joyfull at the holiday as Eid ul Fitr. Most of these people are forced to pray there by the barrel of the gun. Only a few, among an uncle of mine, defied these radicals and opted for the smaller mosques in Yaaqshid. They simply regarded Saddam as an apostate and communist, and therefore sanctioned the alliance with America to defeat him. In reaching this decision, they quoted various instances from the Sunna (the battles of Bader, Khayber and Xuniin) to show that the prophet accepted the assistance of some Mushrikeen to defeat his enemies. Many scholars also argued that if Muslims feel threatened by a force of Kufur, they could indeed seek the help of Jews/Christians or whomever.
