  1. Explosion hits Kenyan security forces vehicle ISIOLO, Kenya, Oct. 28, 2011 (Reuters) — An explosion hit a Kenyan security forces vehicle Friday, wounding three, a day after the first serious clash between Kenyan soldiers and Somali militants inside the neighboring nation, medics and police said. The attack is the fourth on Kenyan soil this week. Kenya sent soldiers and heavy weapons into Somalia 13 days ago to crush al Shabaab, the al Qaeda-linked militant group Nairobi blames for a string of kidnappings on Kenyan soil and border incursions. Police and military sources said the attack happened close to the town of Modika, which is on the road that leads from Garissa in northern Kenya to the Dadaab refugee camp and then onto the Somali border. Several sources said they suspected the vehicle carrying members of Kenya's paramilitary General Service Unit (GSU) had been hit by a land mine, although the exact nature of the explosion remained to be confirmed officially. "No deaths so far. The officers are being treated. We have managed to arrest one person and he's being interrogated," Provincial Commissioner James Ole Serian told Reuters. Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe told Reuters they suspected a land mine was behind the blast and two had been injured. The Kenya Red Cross said the vehicle hit was in a convoy of four. "The vehicle in which the officers were traveling was extensively damaged and partly burned after being hit by what we suspect might either be a land mine, or a bomb," a police source in the provincial headquarters, who declined to be named, told Reuters. "NO REGRETS" FOR GRENADE ATTACK Two medical sources at the Garissa Provincial General Hospital said two of the GSU officers were in critical condition and a third had been admitted for treatment. "We have received three patients who have been injured. Two are in a serious condition with burns and fractures," said Musa Mohamed, a medical superintendent at the Garissa hospital. The attack came a day after al Shabaab gunmen ambushed Kenyan soldiers inside Somalia in the first serious clash since the east African country sent its troops across the border. Unknown gunmen also attacked a vehicle in the far north of Kenyan near the Somali border Wednesday, killing four government employees and wounding two guards. Monday, the capital Nairobi was hit by two separate grenade attacks on a bar and a bus terminus. One person was killed and 29 were wounded. A Kenyan man who pleaded guilty to the grenade attack on the bus station and membership of al Shabaab was sentenced Friday to life in prison by a Nairobi court. Elgiva Bwire Oliacha, also known as Mohamed Seif, told reporters he had no regrets after a magistrate read out the life sentence for the grenade attack. Earlier in the same court, prosecutors charged two more suspects with the same crimes as Oliacha. Omar Muchiri Athuman and Stephen Macharia Mwangi denied the charges and will appear in court again on November 4. 9. As Somalis once again are completely divided on a foreign intervention in their Country led by a neighboring country and as usual it's seen as a blessing at the same time as a curse but that generally depends on who you talk two. Those who struggle and ponder over who to choose between the said 3 evils as some view them.Whether it's Gandi or Godane or Gaas the 3G's. But clearly the decision was not for them to make. And Somalis are once again struggling over what their options could have been as the reasons for choosing the leading factors in Somalia Comes down to Clan affiliation and short term Clan objectives.Instead of being normative and planting new seeds,in the sense of wanting to obtain long lasting Justice in the two Juba regions a place that was being drastically ruined by different merciless warlords. The Kenyan Military intervention didn't come as a surprise some will see it as a clan victory as they dream to fill the vacuum if the Alshabaab forces are driven out some will see it as finally being liberated from the Alshabaab forces but keep in mind this invasion was pre-planed and orchestrated by foreign forces that have a elaborate exploitation intentions in Somalia believe it or not. There is a major oil factor playing dominant role in this Military incursion not to mention the cost of this war who would have thought the kenyans will go to war just to liberate two Aid workers? Interestingly Somalis hardly have a problem with that even though Somalis like most Africans all believe in Conspiracy theories and when Factual evidence is presented to them it's easily dismissed. Now Some will Foolishly argue Somalis have it good we have more freedom in kenya than we have in Ethiopia or any other African Country we take part of the Political process of the Country we are part of the political culture in kenya we invest our money in Kenyan real estate Companies and we are excellent enterperneurs in kenya and we are very much appreciated in Kenya. And our social status in Kenya is like that of the African Americans in America. Now that all might be true but what does that have to do with Somalia as a state or the national interest of Somalia ? Kenya as a country obviously has its own National Interest Foreign Policy specifically towards Somalia.Even the highly emotional intelligent Abtigis knows this but one day he hops on adeer Yusuf haji's tank and the next day azania as a proposed state needs to be collectively supported by all Somalis for the bigger Cause. What about the consequences of this Kenyan Military invasion in Somalia what will this mean for the local ordinary population and civilians already effected by drought famine as some use as an argument Alshabaab is evil and they are inhumane thus they should be fought with even with the Israeli army and Ethiopians and god knows who? But what about the territorial violation of the Somalia border by a foreign Country since their presence is illegal .Don't get me wrong i would have supported a state in the two jubba's and gedo Azania or jubbaland what ever you want to call it. But it needs to be a grassroot administration administrated by the Locals founded by the Locals even with Gandi as its leader as i have full confidence in his ability to govern,Kenyans and other African countries can help it with logistics military training. But this is not the case in addition a state that Consists of the 2 juba's and gedo in the south of the Country is very much needed and welcomed. But this should not be a rewind of the 2007 Ethiopian invasion in Mogadisho when a certain warlord named Qanyare afrax, went to the supreme general of the Ethiopian armed forces in Mogadishu General Gabre. And asked him why General Gabre prefers Cabdilahi Yusuf's Clan over his Clan. To make a long story short the Kenyan Intervention in Somalia will be a huge set back to the peace and stability in Somalia and Most importantly, the proposed azania state backed by the Kenyan government with Military invasion on the horizon will cost the lives of Many if its pushed by narrow minded Political Figures in Somalia. As we all know Melez zenewi is distributing Arms to Ahmed blackie a rival Clan faction leader. Most likely the Gedo Clan faction of Barre hiiraale will be allied to him.Marka Soomaaliyey waaan bahanahay bakhti looma cuno.

  12. Why should Somalilanders support the invasion of a Somali Country People they share a language culture Religion with give me one good reason. Why would Somalilanders support the invasion of a Muslim Country by a Christian Country who by the way already Colonize Somali territories in the nfd region. This is not About Somaliland Somalia Djibouti or Qabil or short term clan objectives this is about the very own existence of the Somali race and their future as people in the horn of Africa.Half of the Somali population in the southern part of Somalia are effected by famine and by poverty do you think they can survive another incursion?
  13. Long before Restore Hope, the joint UN and USA humanitarian campaign in Somalia in early 1990s, a consultant to the UNO on Somalia, advised the USA administration to attempt everything else but not war with Somalis, in his opinion; war is the thing Somalis know best. The USA did not heed to that precious advice and we all remember the way that campaign went wrong – it ended with the famous Black hawk down and that was the last USA chapter of waging war in Somalia – at least an open and all out ground war. That UNO consultant is called Mr. John Drysdale. He knew the closing stages of the campaign even before it was waged. He was not a fortune teller; Mr. Drysdale was some one who had first hand experience of what Somalis are capable to accomplishing in the war field. He was the British administrator of Somaliland more than four decades prior to the debut of that campaign. The Ethiopians were not dissuaded by the USA experience in Somalia. They did not either learn much from their centuries-old wars with Somalis and with the help of the USA air power, they too attacked and captured Mogadishu, but their victory did not last for too long and they were also compelled to a humiliating withdrawal after Somalis taught them a lesson in urban and guerrilla warfare. Now it appears that the Kenyans did not learn much about the history of Somali warfare. In my opinion they too have made very bad miscalculations and do not understand that all Somalis are not the murderous Al-shabaab group and the Transitional Federal government. The Somali population is not the weak and famine-devastated thousands that live in refugee camps in the Northern Frontier district (NFD), which it self is a Somali region given to Kenya in the early sixties, after Kenya gained its independence from Britain. NFD is one of the five Somali territories represented in the star on the Somalia flag. Besides NFD, the other four Somali territories are Somalia, The Republic of Djibouti, The self administered Somali region in Ethiopia and the Republic of Somaliland. The Kenyans fancy to believe that they could win a war and defeat Somalis, it is passable for them to accept as true what they believe, but the truth of the matter is they are playing with inextinguishable fire – a greater Somali fire. By starting a war in this region can easily instigating Somalis to reclaim their Northern Frontier District (NFD). Therefore, I brotherly advise the Kenyans to withdraw immediately before Somalis beat the drums of war, believe me that will not be a good sign for the Kenyans. To give you an example of what that could mean; the recent Kenyan civil unrest will feel just like a picnic in warm summer day on Mount Kilimanjaro. Since its independence from Italy, Somalia is wounded by civil war, famine, terrorism and corrupt incompetent consecutive regimes, but Somalis are far from death and are strong enough to inflict an ever lasting damage to an aggressor. They are also blessed with Muslim and Arab brethren, who will not hesitate to assist them to rebel all enemies from all Somali territories. Kenyans have no business crossing the borders to Somalia; it is illegal under International law and it is morally wrong. If they have beef with Al-Shabaab then they must fight them in their own territory and not inside Somalia. Kenyans must not arrogantly over estimate their economic and military power and must keep in mind, that only Somalis are capable of defeating Somalis and no body else. They must bear in mind that their country is very easily susceptible to be fractured through ethnic and tribal lines. By starting a war with Somalis Kenyan economy and tourist industry can be devastated within hours. It must realize that it can not win the wars lost by super powers. Kenya must not be fooled by the guys who call themselves the TFG of Somalia; these guys lack morality, education, experience and live their lives under the protection of the Ugandan forces tanks in their home – Mogadishu. They can be bought and sold in a junk yard. If the Kenyans trust the strategic analysis of these TFG guys then they are deficient in judgement. Somalis know too well the illegal Somalia territorial water’s concession made to Kenya by the illegal and morally corrupt TFG. Somalis are aware of the Azania project that is established by Kenyans through a mercenary force headed by Mr. Gandi, a power Hungary opportunist. Somalis quite appreciate Kenya’s geopolitical ambitions, both short and long term strategies. By looking at realities on the ground, these Kenyan dreams are far from becoming true. Kenyans politicians must clear their heads of the myths and wrong assumptions. They are not able to conquer more territories from Somalis, but instead the Northern Frontier District might go back to hands of Somalis. In recent years Kenya was enrich with not only the looting of the Somalia’s International assistance through the NGOs operated mafia that consider the humanitarian assistance, war and drought confounded Somalis as their personal spoils of war. Not only that, but Kenya is also benefiting from Somalis who bring with them capital, technical and business expertise to that corruption riddle East African country. Somalis have both directly & indirectly created jobs for millions of Kenyans. Thus, Kenya benefited from Somalia more than any country in the world. For those simple reasons, Kenyans should be grateful to the Somalis and must not try to slaughter the goose that laid the golden eggs. Kenyans and for that matter any other neighbouring country must think twice before they venture to play with Somali fire; it will never die very easily. Somalis might consider moving their businesses and investments from Kenya to neighbouring Republic of Somaliland and The Republic of Djibouti. Both Somaliland and Djibouti are eager to receive their Somali brethren and their investments with open hearts. The United Nations and the donor countries might also consider moving their offices to the more peaceful and politically stable Somaliland, since Kenya is not able to provide security to the foreign diplomats, expatriates and tourists in its country.

Enjoying what anigu oday Somaliyeed baan ahay i do not support the illegal Kenyan Incursion into Somalia i believe the Kenyans already colonize Somali territories NFD if they want to help the government of Somalia they should help train Military personal so that the Somali Security Forces can secure the border between Somalia and Kenya.I have made it clear several times where i stand on this.

  18. Kenya is fearing for their own Security kenya is really feeling the heat they know they can't win an insurgency war from Alshabaab But i think they should come to some sort of a Political agreement so that we can prevent a full scale war negotiations is the best Solution even though i am optimistic i don't think such an agreement will last for a long period. Border Security needs to be discussed. Violence. Refugees Going in to Kenya.
