UAE ‘might be the next mover’ if Ethiopia recognizes Somaliland January 3, 2024 MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The United Arab Emirates is likely spearheading Ethiopian plans to recognize Somaliland in exchange for an access to the Red Sea and might be the next country to follow suit, Alex de Waal a British researcher on African politics said in an interview with the BBC. “The key here is the United Arab Emirates and this has Abu Dhabi’s fingerprints all over. They are strongly supporting Abiy Ahmed. They are very interested in Somaliland and its ports. They have a very assertive regional diplomacy that is not respecting the norms and principles of the African Union,” de Waal told BBC’s News Hour. “So, it is possible that the UAE might be the next mover but that wouldn’t necessarily set off a cascade. It might actually further inflame regional jealousies and rivalries because Saudi Arabia, Qatar and a number of other spects are observing the UAE’s activities in the Horn.” UAE ‘might be the next mover’ if Ethiopia recognizes Somaliland | Somali Guardian SOMALIGUARDIAN.COM MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) - The United Arab Emirates is likely spearheading Ethiopian plans to recognize Somaliland in exchange for an access to the Red Sea

Two things can go wrong for Muuse biix if he miscalculates and believes he can manipulate the Duriyad Clan and deceives them and the deal doesnt include things that dont benefit Somaliland. Then it wont fly . rest assured , The SL public would need allot of assurances from the Goverment and from Ethiopia. That it dont include any sort of ownership from the Ethiopian state. And second this should not include a port establishment because that would go against the Financial standings of Somaliland and at the Berbera port. But only a naval base.Somaliland should also demand land from Ethiopia fertile Land. a swap for a period of time. Ethiopian airline isnt enough what if Ethiopian airlines goes bankrupt then what . And last but not least , Ethiopia must recognise the Somaliland Independence . That is the only way that he can sell this to the SL public other wise. It wont fly . if i look at the Somaliland public i think about 55 percent is for it . If it benefits Somaliland, the other part is sceptical or opposed to it. The political parties are behind the deal but they need more details Ucid and Kulmiye and cirro are onboard for the most part. But i hope it wont get to it , Because the dangers are far more significant then the benefits for now. Since we dont have a very strong army and cant defeat Ethiopia if it starts claiming land after a decade or two. Also what about migration from Ethiopia what are we going to do about that. For the time being i hope that Biixi doesnt do something reckless and he uses this to milk the koonfurians to come with some sort of settlement and reach a final outcome in the 4 decade old Somalia and Somaliland conflict

i disagree i am not saying it will happen over night obviously it will take time to solve the underlying issues. But the people are not that different to reconcile on some of the issues. You are right though the laascanood youth are a voice that needs to be heard and reckoned with , and the things are not the same as before. but as there was a war between Grx clan and the Garaad clan in 1936 which lasted over 6 six years. by 1944 they were all palls , this wont be any different then that i believe. Horta culusow hada masaar ma gaadhay wali mise wali dictatorki asmara wuu la jooga
-
it looks badder than it seems he mishandled the the entire Laascanood conflict which was very unnecessary how it was managed. Hopefully talks can begin between the Somaliland goverment and the Garaadada. its evident that Culusow doesnt care for them as he doesnt want to grant them a state as a federal member state.. As for the Grx the most Majestic Somaliland if not Somali clan. They will most likely succeed Muse Bixii i am not sure if it will be ciiro Gaboose or Abdikarim the young Mayor of Hargeisa. But they can overwealmingly get allot of votes from all over Somaliland since they live in all corners of Somaliland i am also hearing that Ina xashi is joining wadani. So they will be fine. Xirsi might leave wadani Muuse understands xoog he comes from a time where iron fist is anything. But if he handles this situation well, caanu ka daadsan kara xamar, and this time they wont stall with the Somalia and Somaliland talks. Since Abiye becomes hungrier and bolder every day

Your right muse has about 9 month left i dont know he might say i will give u a share of Ethiopian Airliner hahah . U never know its very hard though he is not in good terms with chief of his own clan. So they might not accept it. I just hope for the time being he keeps it as a bluff and signs nothing with the Ethiopians
-
Zeila would be the closest and Lowya adde and i think Muse will choose that for them Zeila and Zelel is the most emptiest part of Somaliland there about six villages of each village has about 200 people . I think he is going for that . His good ties with the jesus clan i believe he will give their officials incentives and stuff and help their people relocate and stuff. He will avoid the Borama clan for they will try out cry and stuff and he knows the Jesus clan are not that large in Somaliland, the land is on their name but they dont really live there but their land is sizable and it is closest to the Ethiopian border. the other option is from Saba wanaag all the way down to wajaale straight to Ethiopia , thats also an option lets wait and see
-
Does he really believe he is the Messiah Menelik re incarnate grand son of King soloman. Thats why i suggest if Muse wants to go through with the deals and does want to keep the cohesion of Somaliland. He should avoid the Borama clan and the Jesus clan at hand , And focus on his own Clan his clan stretches from the eastern Part of Lughaya, he can start from saba wanaag to eel sheikh all the way to bulahaar what ever 20 km thats from saba wanaag to eelksheikh is about 20 km and i think that would do it And u will not hear the jesus and borama clan complain at all
-
No absolutely not How ever to safe Somaliland from civil war between local clans if muse is going to go through with it he should go for the coastal guban areas. But all in all its better not to sign anything with the Ethiopians. And use it as fear tactic and leverage against the Koonfurians in order to reach a final agreement that would be my best outcome for all. Except the Ethiopians
-
Muse should stop this if he wants to go through with this deal he should stop this that awdal is the destination , Just do from Eastern saahil to earia.then u wont have any tension eventhough no clan owns lughaya exclusivly it belongs to 3 clans all owning a share , but to stop the Fuss , if Muse wants to go through witht he deal in order keep the Somaliland cohesion alive we are a democracy if the locals in Awdal do not wish to go through with these deal, Muuse should just rent out saahil then , His own clan Backyard

Ethiopia-Somaliland deal makes waves in Horn of Africa By Damian Zane Tuesday January 9, 2024 The defence minister of the self-declared republic of Somaliland has become the latest casualty of the row over a controversial agreement that is causing ructions in the Horn of Africa. Abdiqani Mohamoud Ateye resigned saying that cabinet ministers should have been consulted over a deal that Somaliland struck with Ethiopia that could see it leasing part of its coastline to its landlocked neighbour. advertisements Somalia - which considers Somaliland to be part of its territory - reacted angrily to the 1 January deal, calling it an act of aggression. Both the US and the African Union have backed the territorial integrity of Somalia and urged all parties to cool tensions. What was agreed? The exact wording of the deal signed by the leaders of Ethiopia and Somalia has not been made public, which is a problem as there are differing versions of what the two sides agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). An MoU is a statement of intent rather than a legally binding agreement but what seems clear is that Somaliland is ready to grant Ethiopia access to the sea for commercial traffic through a port, although it is not clear which port that would be. There is also a military aspect. Somaliland has said it could lease a section of the coast to Ethiopia's navy, which has been confirmed by Addis Ababa. In return, Somaliland will get a share in Ethiopia Airlines, the country's successful national carrier. But where things get sticky is whether Ethiopia said it would recognise Somaliland as an independent state - something which no other country has done in the 30 years since the former British colony said it was leaving Somalia. On the day of the signing, Somaliland's President Muse Bihi Abdi said the agreement included a section stating that Ethiopia would recognise Somaliland as an independent country at some point in the future. Ethiopia has not confirmed this. Instead, in its attempt to clarify what was in the MoU, the government on 3 January said the deal included "provisions… to make an in-depth assessment towards taking a position regarding the efforts of Somaliland to gain recognition". Why is this so controversial? For Somalia, Somaliland is an integral part of its territory. Any suggestion that it could make a deal with another country or that bits of it could be leased without the approval of Mogadishu is highly problematic. The day after the MoU was signed, Somalia described the deal as an act of "aggression" that was an "impediment to… peace and stability". It also recalled its ambassador from Addis Ababa. On Sunday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stepped up the rhetoric saying: "We will defend our country, we will defend it by all means necessary and seek the support of any ally willing to help us." He also called on youths "to prepare for the defence of our country". Last week there were protests in Mogadishu against the deal with tens of thousands turning up to express their opposition. What is the status of Somaliland? Somaliland, a former British protectorate, declared itself independent from Somalia in 1991 and has all the trappings of a country, including a working political system, regular elections, a police force and its own currency. Over the decades it has also escaped much of the chaos and violence that have hit Somalia. But its independence has not been recognised by any country. If, as Somaliland said, Ethiopia has agreed to recognise it at some point, it would have a profound impact on the Horn of Africa region. What has Ethiopia said? Prime Minister Abiy last year described access to the sea as an existential issue. Ethiopia lost its ports when Eritrea seceded in the early 1990s. With more than 100 million people, it is the most populous landlocked country in the world. Mr Abiy's statement raised fears that Ethiopia could try to achieve its goal by force. It has described the deal with Somaliland as historic, and emphasised that its intentions are peaceful. "The position announced by the government is strongly rooted in a desire to not engage in war with anyone," Ethiopia's communications office said. But in an oblique reference to the controversy, Mr Abiy said on X on Sunday that "if we expect things to happen in ways that we are used to or know or can predict, [opportunities] may pass us". He added that some sometimes "out of the box" thinking was needed to achieve goals. What have others said? On 3 January, African Union commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat called for calm and mutual respect "to de-escalate the simmering tension" between Ethiopia and Somalia. US state department spokesperson Matthew Miller also said that his country was concerned by reports that Ethiopia would recognise Somaliland's independence. "We join other partners in expressing our serious concern as well about the resulting spike in tensions in the Horn of Africa," he added in a press briefing. Turkey, which plays a significant role in Somalia, stated its "commitment to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Somalia. And Egypt has also pledged support for Somalia. President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi told his Somali counterpart that Egypt stood by Somalia and supported "its security and stability".

language she can be ur Grandmother to be fair to hair this is a very two year old vidoe not sure why they reposting it. Nothing she said was wrong though i am not a fan of Israel. now most all the Arab countries in the Middle east have ties with Israel. So if she suggest why shouldnt Somaliland its not that weird. bahrain sudan egypt Jordan Morocco the UAE , Saudi on official ties. All have diplomatic ties. Ethiopia and Eritrea both have ties with israel. oman has ties with israel Benyamin neteynyahu visited that country back in 2022. So how can one say Somaliland should care for ARAB interests and not have ties.
