  1. Che do you support sharif for another term?
  2. Somaliland future discussed in UK Leaders from Somalia and Somaliland have held their first formal discussions on the future of the self-proclaimed Somaliland republic. It broke away in 1991 and wants to be a separate country - but it has not been internationally recognised. Mogadishu wants the northern territory to be part of a single Somali state. Since declaring independence, Somaliland has enjoyed relative peace in contrast to the rest of Somalia, which has been plagued by conflict Timing of talks The BBC's Peter Biles, who was at the talks near London, says that although they were preparatory, they were nonetheless something of a breakthrough. It was the first time in 21 years that there had been formal, direct contact between the authorities in Mogadishu, and the Somaliland administration, which used to be a British colony, whereas southern Somalia was governed by Italy. The two sides agreed the talks should continue and, in a declaration, they called on their respective presidents to meet as soon as possible - this could be as early as next week in Dubai. They also called on the international community to help provide experts on legal, economic and security matters, which our correspondent says are all issues that will need to be addressed in clarifying the future relationship between Somalia and Somaliland. Significantly, they've also agreed to co-operate in the fight against terrorism and piracy. However, our correspondent says the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia and the Somaliland administration are still poles apart on the central issue of Somaliland's status. Britain, Norway and the European Union have said they want the two sides to negotiate a settlement. Somaliland agreed to enter into the talks during a February meeting in London, when 40 global leaders met to tackle piracy, terrorism and political instability in Somalia. But its administration says its priority is to remain separate from the rest of Somalia - and wants Mogadishu to recognise its independence. Analysts have questioned the timing of the talks - the mandate of Somalia's transitional government expires in August when it is due to hand over to an elected president. Somaliland unilaterally declared independence after the overthrow of Siad Barre - who led Somalia's last functioning national government. It is relatively stable and holds regular elections, which have seen peaceful transfers of power - unlike the rest of the country, which has been racked by continued conflict ever since.

Siilaanyo has finally taken a bold step with the cover of international help and in the veneer of national respect , he's doing what those before him could never dare do... good for him. The mark has been put on the question of representation, the composition of committees clearly shows that. This is indeed a welcome development for all those concerned. You have been saying that for 21 years still wax midnimo ma hayno between Somaliland and Somalia The Political reality on the ground is Somaliland is not giving up its statehood. Siilaanyo is a servant of the nation and he thinks using different methods achieving state recognition should be put in practice we welcome that, so don't get to excited.
  6. So much qabyalaad so much hate all off you seek help
  7. Adan jugle thats how it starts with talking Somalia finally has something that resembles a government how the hell could Somaliland get recognition from Warlords in the 90s or Abdiqasim hiding in a hotel in Mogadishu. Or Abdilahi Yusuf and the Ethiopian mercenaries or the Islamic courts union. Saaxib Somaliland didn't even try they didn't even approach Somalia i can assure you Somaliland and Somalia talks and restoring their relations as two separate independent states next to each other is the most easiest thing. But it wasn't done because Somaliland didn't approach Somalia and Somalia was busy fighting among themselves. This is the best timing there is a government now in Somalia and Somaliland is willing to talk and Somalia its self wants to come to the negotiating table there is no problem the international community will facilitate talks between the two countries or the two Presidents soon.
  8. ^^ The transition will end any way whether Somaliland or Somalia likes it didn't you listen to edo Hillary Clinton
  9. Wonderful excellent well done both Sides Somaliland and Somalia

  11. Aadan Jugle;843949 wrote: For you even if somaliland was flushed down the toilet is historic. But any sane somalilander can see the situation today clearly, Dr Beenaale insisted time and time again that these talks would be about the future of somaliland's nationhood, and all of sudden when he was asked today he said "somaliland'd nationhood wasn't even in the agenda", and further when he was asked what would Siilaanyo ahd Mr Dalxiis will discuess he couldn't say so. Its pretty clear and obvious unless you are deaf and mute that you were told plenty of times that Somalia's unity is not nogatiable, its in the constitution that was sponsered and payed for by these same "IC" you seem to regard as omnipotent. So what part you don't seem to understand. If drag these sort of talks and meetings we will confuse our population and that could wreck our stand and divide us. Everytime we go to these endless meetings we are weakening our position and the southers will see it as a softening of somaliland resolve, the process should be limited it should have been done in simple 2 stages period, there is nothing to discuess but somaliland's stathood and after then we can talk about fishing and hunting lizard agreements. this is dangerous and siilaanyo's agenda is obvious. You seem a bit worried about the koonfurians there is nothing there to be afraid of Somalia's government barely controls the Banadir region Somalia its self is divided more than anything the TFG is one of the many entities of Somalia. If you compare it to Somaliland an elected government an elected parliament territorial control. Adan this is the first phase of the talks they were paving the road for the next phase of talks between the two Presidents this is heading the right direction you have to give talks a chance this is the way to get state recognition for Somaliland.

  13. ^^ Oke so you're prefer Ina waran cade's policy declare war on Somalia or Mohammad xaashi not calling them brothers Adan Jugle , President Siilaanyo is playing people's diplomacy the talks between Somaliland and Somalia was suggested in the London conference by the the international community they will be present when such talks are being planned. Somaliland is in better situation than Somalia when it comes to talks. Somalia cannot refuse anything Somaliland called for all legal recruitments to do the legal legal framework between Somaliland and Somalia SL just need to prepare the next talks between the two countries its all well this was a historical day.
  14. Its a start Somaliland and Somalia talked for the first time after 21 years it has a long way to go Somaliland and Somalia agreed to fight against terrorism and piracy this was not the case they also agreed to set up another committee and continue the talks. Also the two Presidents will meet shortly in one of the Arab countries to continue further talks between Somaliland and Somalia this is a good step we should welcome this.President Siilaanyo broke the ice his policy is working when it comes to foreign policy.
