  2. Somaliland's outgoing President pledges smooth transition as opposition leader wins election 192 SharesFacebookFacebook messengerTwitterWhatsAppLinkedInTelegramPhoneEmail Wednesday November 20, 2024 Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi congratulated President-elect Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro on his election victory, pledging to ensure a peaceful power transfer. In a statement at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa on Wednesday, Bihi thanked supporters of his Kulmiye Party and urged them to accept the opposition Waddani Party's decisive win. "I pledge my full support for a smooth transition of power. May your tenure bring peace, progress, and enduring success to our beloved nation. To my fellow citizens, I thank you for granting me the privilege to serve as your president. While my term ends, my commitment to the betterment of our nation remains steadfast. Let us stand united and work together for the prosperity of Somaliland," Bihi said. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, 69, of the opposition Waddani Party, secured over 50% of the vote in November's election, defeating Bihi, who garnered just over 30%. Abdullahi, a former Speaker of Somaliland's Parliament in 2005, centered his campaign on democratic reforms, addressing youth unemployment, and economic challenges. The election marked a significant milestone for Somaliland's democratic tradition, despite being delayed twice since 2022 due to funding and logistical issues. International and regional leaders, including the United States, Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh, and Somali federal government leaders, have congratulated Abdullahi on his victory. They praised Somaliland for its peaceful electoral process and commitment to democratic principles.

  6. Ciiro will do what is good for. somaliland he is pragmatic most people in wadani camp are former kulmiye members . They had an issue with bixis leadership of not consulting them.. but he might review it and see where it goes from there . But I remember back in 2012 when ciiro established the wadani party he was very good with the incumbent leader then siilaanyo . Ciiro and biixi might have had differences who leads the country. But they don’t disagree on the main issues such a what is good for Somaliland it’s quest for state hood . So we have to wait and see and check what the mou is actually about .

  11. Thousands attend funeral of former Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo 124 SharesFacebookFacebook messengerTwitterWhatsAppLinkedInTelegramPhoneEmail Monday November 18, 2024 Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland political leaders and thousands of mourners gathered in Hargeisa on Monday to attend the funeral prayer of former Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo, a towering figure in the region's history. Silanyo, who passed away at the age of 86 in Hargeisa, led the Somali National Movement (SNM), founded the ruling Kulmiye party, and served as Somaliland's president from 2010 to 2017. Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and Waddani party leader Abdirahman Irro praised Silanyo as a statesman who championed efforts to unite the self-declared republic. "He was a political visionary whose legacy will live on in the history of Somaliland," Irro said. Leaders from Somalia's federal government and other political figures also extended their condolences, reflecting Silanyo's influence across the Somali-speaking regions. Silanyo retired from politics in 2017 due to age and health concerns, spending his later years in Hargeisa.
  12. Biden and trump republican and democrats on. Israel are exactly the same at least with trump u know what u can expect the Lauzy democrats how ever pretend like they care . But they are the biggest boot lockers of neytan yahu
  13. Its official we have a new president ciiro is our new president Guul Somaliland did a great job only in Somaliland we have peaceful transfer of powe
  14. No, he did not win in the previous election; he lost fairly. However, he may secure victory this time, as he has garnered significant support from both the eastern and western constituencies of Burco. I do not believe any leader in Somaliland can effectively challenge the dominance of the major corporations. The oligarchs in Somaliland hold immense power. Companies such as Telesom, Dahabshiil, Somcable, Indhadeero, Omaar, and Ina Caydiid dominate the economic landscape, employing a vast majority of the population. Dislodging their influence seems highly improbable.
  15. Ciiro’s leadership is likely to resemble that of Kulmiye, albeit with a more diplomatic and composed demeanour compared to Muse Biixi. The key figures within Waddani’s leadership include who were all ex Kulmiye members and politicians Xamarji, a former Governor of Hargeisa, who was arrested by President Siilaanyo on charges of corruption. Xirsi, a notorious figure alleged to have embezzled substantial funds, once reportedly boasting, “I am 40 years old and have $40 million.” Cadaani, a returnee from the United States who served as a State Minister during Siilaanyo’s administration. Cukuse, a former Information Minister under Siilaanyo’s government. Cukuse oo cukusay who is not even an Ethnic Somalilandish person. only on his mother side. Dr Bajaaj, who held the position of Foreign Minister during Siilaanyo’s presidency. Xildhibaan Wabeeeye, a former MP affiliated with Kulmiye. Liibaan samatalis a subclanish qurbajoog Youtuber he should also distance him self from that guy In addition, Gallaal, previously a spokesperson for Kulmiye's diaspora supporters is also part of the inner circle. Among the elders who support Ciiro, notable figures include Ina Jaambir, a divisive clan elder, and Cadde Guude, an even more polarising individual. These elders frequently surround Ciiro, adding to his political entourage. The low voter turnout in the elections may stem from a perceived similarity between Waddani and Kulmiye. To many, the two parties share identical ideologies, systems, and political cultures, differing only in their symbolic colourrs orange for Waddani and yellow and green for Kulmiye. This lack of distinctiveness has disillusioned voters, leaving them apathetic about participating in the electoral process. A significant concern is also Maxamuud Xaashi, who is widely regarded as corrupt. Associating with individuals of such repute could tarnish Ciiro’s credibility. If Ciiro genuinely wishes to transform Somaliland, he should distance himself entirely from former Kulmiye politicians and build his cabinet with fresh faces. He should prioritise selecting capable members of the qurbajoogs and, if necessary, consider appointing technocrats like Dr Beyle or younger MPs from Somaliland’s new generation. or cabdilahi Dahab of rajo who is SL nationalist and Cabdilahi Darawal SNM mujahid the parties that didnt make it rajo and horseed make them part of wadani, It is imperative that he avoids recycling the older, entrenched political figures of Kulmiye . Insha’Allah, may Ciiro succeed for then Somaliland succeeds he has my support . A smooth transfer of power, should he win, would be a significant achievement for Somaliland, reinforcing its reputation for peaceful transitions of leadership. This, in itself, would be a positive development, showcasing Somaliland’s democratic maturity to the world and a step closer to diplomatic recognition. Ciiro is a cool headed man i think he will do good if he just bring new fresh faces to the political arena.
  16. Wa afrikaan dadkani ma maraykan baad moodaysa hahaa SL commision wa dad wareersan wa commisionka ka liya intay hadlaan hadana waxba sheegin
  17. The accomplishments of President Siilaanyo were many, so much so that it is difficult to know where to begin. In the early 1990s, he dedicated himself to the advancement of Somaliland and the unification of its people. He was instrumental in organising numerous shirs and even authored a meticulously drafted power-sharing constitution for Somalia and Somaliland in 1990, although it ultimately did not materialise. You can find it on the internet. During the tenure of the late President Cigaal, he served as Finance Minister, a role in which he contributed significantly to Somaliland’s foundational years. However, his legacy extends far beyond these contributions. During the darkest hours of the 1980s, following the assassination of the SNM chairman, mujahid Abdulqadir Kosaar, Siilaanyo assumed leadership of the SNM and steered the movement with extraordinary vision and resilience. Under his leadership, the SNM evolved into one of the most sophisticated liberation movements in the region, leading major offensives in 1987 and 1988. Once Somaliland was liberated from the regime of the late General Afweyne and declared its independence, Siilaanyo played a pivotal role in the post liberation period he did indeed very great. He organised and facilitated the historic SNM conference where Mujahid Abdurahman Tuur was elected chairman in 1989. He also established numerous commissions aimed at fostering peace between war affected regions, particularly in the eastern areas of our Somaliland Republic. His legacy was further cemented when he contested the presidential elections against Dahir Riyale Kahin back in 2003. Despite losing by a narrow margin of just 80 votes, unbelievable, Siilaanyo chose peace over conflict, declaring that no fighting would ensue not on his watch and pledging to try again and he was a great opposition leader. True to his word, seven years later, he was elected President of Somaliland. by the people. As President, his achievements were remarkable. He increased Somaliland's budget from $80 million to $450 million and oversaw both local and presidential elections, ensuring their smooth execution. He established the Kulmiye Party in 2002, now the oldest political party in Somaliland alongside UCID, and proposed Muse Biixi as the party’s presidential candidate. he secured allot of investments the only downside of his legacy was he started talks with the koonfurians , the failed talks with the Bunker was the only bad thing he ever did. President Siilaanyo made education a priority, introducing free primary education for all Somalilanders. He also launched numerous infrastructure projects, including bridges funded by the European Union and Arab nations, and oversaw the expansion of Berbera Airport. Most notably, he secured Somaliland’s first major foreign investment through the DP World partnership, which significantly enhanced Berbera's port. I think that is his legacy and SL should name the berbera airport after him.
