  1. Baashe Somaliland deputy speaker of Parliament said that when the talks fail in the next talks than Most likely countries like Norway and South Africa will mediate. The Guurt deputy was also right he said if the Talks officially fail its in Somaliland interests. " frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>
  2. Somaliland And Somalia Talks Are At Dead-End I strongly believe that Somalia was in constant pressure from the international community to resolve the Air space issue with Somaliland, otherwise, they wouldn’t have given up the control of their Air space as easy as they did and I also believe that our negotiators have caved in to the tactics of Somalia’s team. I am sure, had they played their cards right, they could have effortlessly come home with the management of our Air Space and without having Somalia strings attached to it. One other reason why Somalia agreed to the joint management of the Air Space could be for the sole benefit of creating ‘Juha’s nail in Somaliland’ as Mr. abdulaziz Al-Mutairi has well explained in his article ‘Somalia Juha’s Nail in Somaliland’. I sincerely believe that Somaliland negotiators are honest and I also have no doubt in my mind that they are patriotic Somalilanders, who are working hard to do their best for their country and people. However, I do not think they were equipped enough to carry the burden of a mission of that importance and magnitude. I honestly think that they were simply punching way above their weights. One simple proof is that they do not comprehend the importance of the terminology they are using. I have watched some members of that team on TV referring Somaliland and Somalia as “Somalia” instead of saying “former Somali Republic”. Once you referred Somaliland as part of former Somalia, you have then lost the game and confused the IC community. As matter of fact, Somaliland was not a part of Somalia, but it was part of the Somali Republic. We must strongly set the record straight and reject the notion that Somaliland is/was apart of Somalia, Because it is wrong and its the sole reason the IC is facilitating the Somaliland and Somalia dialogue. One can argue, the Somalia team is also equally weak. In that case my response will be, we shouldn’t disarm each time we feel our opponent does not have enough weapons to put us to death. Defeating your opponent is the essence of the game and specially when your opponent is as crooked as Somalia is. One other point is, you can not go into any negotiations unless the other party recognizes your existence. How can anyone in his own mind submissively agree to sit and negotiate with someone that hates him/her to the extent that he denies the present and historic facts of his/her existence? For instance, take the Israeli-Arab negotiations, Israel refused to talk directly with the Arabs, including Palestine before the Arabs recognized Israel and our case is not that different. That is just one familiar case, but all negotiations between countries do not commence unless they agree to recognize each other as equals. Recognition of the sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland should and must be the start of any talks with Somalia. We are not asking Somalia to recognize our De Facto status as it was wrongfully articulated by one member of the Somaliland negotiations team on national TV, because De Facto is our current international status. What we are fighting for is De Jure recognitions and nothing less. That means no more talks with Somalia about observerships seats in the international organizations through Somalia and we should directly apply to the international organization and seek no Somalia permission. Somaliland must consider filing a legal case to recover its rightful membership in the UNO, since Somaliland was the mother-nation of the Somali Republic. We must exert pressure on the UK government both here in the UK and back home to reaffirm our recognition since it was the first country that recognized Somaliland’s sovereignty. Moreover, thousands of Somalilanders fought and died defending the British Empire and now is the time for UK to stand up for Somaliland’s sovereignty and repay Somaliland’s debt. We must take a more aggressive approach in the international media and use everything we can to present our case not only to governments around the world, but also to the regular citizens of all countries. One way of achieving this will be inviting all the other international facilitators of the Somaliland and Somalia dialogue to the next round of talks, so then they can bear witness to Somalia’s procrastinations, which are the cause of the lack of progress in the talks. To achieve this, we need the right people in our team, who will be able to plan ahead and accomplish the mission successfully. Hopefully, the President and incoming Foreign Minister will completely reconfigure the negotiating team and invite seasoned Lawyers, academicians and Somaliland historians to future negotiating team. I would like to suggest few names like Ibrahim Hashi Jama, Ahmed Ismail Samater, Raqia Oomar, Adan Bahnaan, Ret. ambassador Osman Ahmed Hassan and John Drysdale. Prolonging the negotiations is not to the advantage of either Somaliland or Somalia, we are already in Cu l-de-sac and we are adamantly sure that the negotiation will go nowhere. So why waste more time? The longer these negotiations continue Somalilanders will lose more precious time to go on with their lives and Somalia will have more difficulty in creating future sisterly relations with Somaliland. At the same time, Somaliland will not be able to help Somalia achieve peace and stability. Watching Somalia’s blight is very painful and despite all the denials of the current regime in Somalia, the security situation in Somalia is getting worst by the hour and that can not be watched to deteriorate even further. Finally, I understand that both the President and the incoming foreign Minister have more experience and wisdom than I do, but still, I wanted to express my view publicly and I consider this to be part of my civic duty.
  3. Waryaa anigu oday weyn baan ahay i always say the truth when i see something wrong going on.
  4. Garoodi adiguna u need to slow down on generalizing entire communities you are missing the entire point yes aw jamac and his version is far from the truth. The Dervish movement did not care about clan their objective was not achieving clan interest but an Islamic dervish state in the horn. The dervish attacked every clan they saw it was either join them or be attacked so the Garaad clan is no exception they did the same with the maakhir clan the burco clans the hawd clans and so on. You are not trying to correct historic mistakes made by other authors u are just trying to alienate other communities which is wrong and to down play their role in the movement.
  5. I understand the point clearly but i dont see anything wrong with that although his job as an MP is to represent his people and their direct needs but if he tried to help his president and he is loyal and that is what matters when u want to win a presidency u need to have a strong back ground and this guy was that so i dont see anything wrong with that. Haatu African Politics is different than that of Europe and the American congress.

Do you know in 1901 when the dervishes attacked Jigjiga who were on the side the Menelik forces , who tried to Kill the Mullah and called him a laangaab only his closest cousin and uncle were on his side and let him escape. Actually your greatest poet Qamaan buxlan called him a thief to , The Mullah took Qamaan bulxans most beautiful wife after dagaalki dayuuradaha and they fled to Ethiopia.

Are they saying the Daraawiish was not a clan movement but a national movement (even though everyone knows this) or are they saying Idaajaa & Co. left out doorkii SNMka in the movement? It was not a national movement it was a religious movement inspired by the Meccan Sheikh of the Saalixiya order Muxammad ibn Salax. Haatu have u ever read the book of Aw jamac he wrote 3 books r read his 3 books and read the seventeen trips through Somaliland and just compare the 2 books. You will be surprised start with his book Taariikhdii daraawiishta iyo Sayid Maxamed Cabdille Xasan, 1895-1920. There were so many missing points fabrications of events on who took part of what raid and complete new creations of Khusuusi members. Also from 1909 until 1915 Aw jamac minimized the attacks the Dervishes raided much of the Garaad clan and took their stock. While those attacks were the most deadliest. He also created new fictive members who mere junior members of the Dervish movement. Most of his books and records were 50 years after the dervishes were defeated. If there was an actual Somali source at the time of the wars we could have taken that into consideration but this is not the case.

  10. Ahaa the Dervish history one of my favorite its always good to read the dervish horse riders although the kacaan gave their version, the history books speak for themselves. To bad we dont have actual Somali literature about the dervish movement written in the late 19 century early 20th century. There are a few records in Aden about the early stage of the dervish movement but i yet have to see them its written in Arabic i have been told. There is one book i like though i think garoodi quoted some of it , its called Seventeen Trips Through Somaliland by carlos swayne, i think Aw jamac used this book to as guidance although he gave his clanish twist and illustrated his clan as gladiators at the battle of Fardhadin and beer dhiga. Iskaa daa rag bu rag ka daba geynayey eh
  11. Its not complex its not a real conflict there are no clan or water disputes in the hawd this is was a man that was killed so i dont see this as the gaashaamo clan versus the garaad clan this is not happening , maybe some people like that to happen. But this is not the case
  12. Mooge there was no clan clash just a revenge killing nin meesha joogay

  18. If there is even the size of Yemen of oil it will help, there is always interests for oil when it comes to western powers.
  19. Whats the point of talking what is going to happen in the next 500 to 1000 years if not more who knows if the world even exists maybe it will jawmal qiyaama before that. Somaliweyn is an idealistic concept but it has no real strong foundation on the ground, i dont see how Somalis in Kenya can gain independence when oil was just found, there is a chance the Somali region of Ethiopia to be free. But i doubt that they want to be under Somalia.
  20. I am sure there is oil but Somaliland should be careful about what kind of deals it reaches with oil companies. Oil also will help with Somaliland quest for recognition. Do we have sources that indicate what percentage the oil companies will take and what percentage Somaliland.

  22. Ethno nationalism should never be a base for a country national identity, Albania and kosovo are ethnic Albanians, Somaliweyn is like people who advocate for greater Albania parts of Macedonia parts of serbia. Or people who advocate Tigray Eritrea unity,or the people who call for the unity of Rwanda and Burundi. Unity if it is not based on equality based on mutual interest it never works you will only get more conflict.I did not even mention the Arab Nations the Khaleeji one why would one khaleej country be under the other. The only way i can possibly think a Somaliweyn can ever exist is if there is giant political unity institution such as the European union. But every country keeps its national status identity country government army but it will be one of cooperation only. But i doubt we can even reach that style of cooperation in our life time. U just have to look at the Mogadishu Jubbaland conflict. Or the Somalia Somaliland conflict
