Suldaan Faisal is a god fearing man the man has allot of great ideas, he just can put it together well he doesn't use diplomatic language , But the man deeply loves Somaliland when he sees something wrong he tells it like this. He is an honest man i hope if ucid wins the next presidential elections i hope his presidential candidate Jamaal can execute his policies well and he can be the hidden Ayatollah behind the curtains.

Second day of deadly clashes in South Sudan At least 66 dead in fighting, and 10 senior officials held in what president says is a coup attempt by former deputy. Last updated: 17 Dec 2013 18:37 Ads by BetterSurfAd Options Fresh clashes have broken out in the South Sudanese capital Juba, and at least 66 soldiers have been killed, a day after President Salva Kiir said security forces had put down an attempted coup by supporters of his former deputy. The US embassy said on its Twitter account late on Tuesday that that all of its citizens in the country should "depart immediately". The account tweeted that it would outline evacuation options on Wednesday morning. "So far we have lost seven soldiers who died while they were waiting for medical attention and a further 59 who were killed outside," doctor Ajak Bullen said on the local Radio Miraya. Poor communications in Juba, where the mobile phone system has not operated since Monday evening, meant it was difficult to obtain a broad picture of the number of dead during the clashes, which have involved heavy arms and artillery. Kiir said on Monday the fighting between army factions was a bid to seize power by the former vice president, Riek Machar, whom he sacked in July. The two men, from different ethnic groups, which have clashed in the past, have long been political rivals. Analysts said divisions between them run deep and rivalries in army ranks have long simmmered. Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh, reporting from neighbouring Nairobi, spoke to South Sudan's Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth who confirmed at least 10 very senior former government officials have been arrested, including six cabinet ministers. The government named the men on its website. There are conflicting reports about the whereabouts of Riek Machar. The government claims he is on his way to Unity State, whereas Machar's spokesperson said he is in fine condition and "very much still in Juba", Rageh said. Heavy weapons Gunfire - including the sporadic firing of heavy weapons - resumed in the early hours of Tuesday and was still audible at 9am (0600 GMT). It appeared to come from a military headquarters, a few kilometres from the centre of town. South Sudan's president says coup attempt 'foiled' Residents near Juba airport, which has been closed since Monday, were woken before dawn by gunshots and blasts, a UN worker said. Others also reported bouts of shooting. The streets of Juba were deserted, with only military vehicles to be seen and civilians barricaded in their homes. Kiir had said in a statement on Monday that security forces had regained control, although a dawn-to-dusk curfew had been imposed. "The attackers went and [the] armed forces are pursuing them," Kiir said. "I promise you today that justice will prevail." Details of the claimed coup remained sketchy, but South Sudan's Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the Associated Press news agency that troops in the main army base raided a weapons store in Juba but were repulsed. Civilians take refuge The UN deputy special representative for South Sudan, Toby Lanzer, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that about 16,000 civilians were now taking refuge from the fighting in two UN compounds. "We will of course do everything we can do protect people. Many people who are coming require health care of all types," he said. "Some people have been injured. We've got challenges of a variety - and the water and sanitation situation is also something that we are grappling with." Tension had been mounting in South Sudan since Kiir's sacking of Machar. The men belong to different ethnic groups - Kiir to the Dinka, the most powerful, and Machar to the Nuer, but it is not clear whether this latest tension is due to ethnic or political divisions. Machar, who has expressed a willingness to contest the presidency in 2015, told Al Jazeera in July that if the country is to be united it cannot tolerate "one man's rule or it cannot tolerate dictatorship." His sacking, part of a wider dismissal of the entire cabinet by Kiir, had followed reports of a power struggle within the ruling party. South Sudan's government has struggled to create a functioning state since it declared independence from Sudan in 2011 after years conflict with Khartoum during a war that often saw south-south clashes.

Who said i dislike somalia , somalia and somaliland will for ever remain neighbors. And i have not heard sol admins being against somalilanders on sol while we have kenyans here. Somalia and Somalilanders have issues regarding their relations. They are still closer to somalilanders than kenyans you know. Somalilanders are here to discuss things with their neighbors the people of somalia. They are not waiting for kenyans here this not kenyan online. And technically somalilanders have the right to here aslong as somalia claims somaliland territory. They have allot to discuss. But why are kenyans here what is their purpose. Somalia and somaliland are both my people. -

I am saying that the UN/world won't have a reason to accept Somaliland's independence unless Shabab rules Puntland and they want to prevent Shabab from taking over Somaliland so that it doesn't have a base next to Djibouti which would be devastating for the world economy. Somalia claims Somaliland thus gives me the right on commenting on Somalia affairs does Kenya claim Somaliland or does Somaliland claim Kenya. As for Shabaab it will be very difficult for shabaab to annex puntland for some reason i believe the west fuels the Shabaab Somali conflict and keeps supporting shabaab so that the African dictators receive their pay checks from Brussels. -

You try to shun and look down on "Kenyans" and everyone else but you come gleaming because some Cadaan behind his laptop changed a map on Wikipedia? I'll say it again, Somaliland will not get independence unless Shabab took over Puntland. Ugaali is a nice dish liked by allot of Kenyans nothing wrong with it i dont look down on Kenyans they have one of the most progressive economies in the African continent. I just believe they have other pressing issues than to worry about Somaliland and Somalia. So your saying Amiir Godane has to take over Puntland. By the way Somaliland is already independent from Somalia it has no UN political office the rest of Somalia has, it receives its aid separately. It signs major oil agreements with Foreign firms its about to sign a major port investment soon with a French firm it just doesn't have official embassies in Foreign countries and its currency is not recognized as an international currency, thats about it,and i believe they will reach that final part. -

Somaliland's secession should be conditional upon them leaving SSC alone and letting Awdal go to Jabuuti. A Kenyan is a Kenyan whether he speaks Somali or speaks Swahili he or she has noting to do with Somaliland and certainly he or she cannot speak for Borama a city 90 km west of Hargeisa. Borama is closer to gabiley than its to Djibouti. Somaliland is not a secession it never claimed it seceding from Somalia for it only voluntarily united with Somalia a choice they had and a choice to withdraw. Your opinion is irrelevant your are not a koonfurian your country is Kenya and your dish is ugaali. Somaliland deals with the Koonfurians only. Bolloré in talks for Somaliland port Bolloré Africa Logistics today confirmed that it was in negotiations with the Somaliland authorities to develop a port in Berbera, on the Gulf of Aden. “The Berbera port has indeed caught our attention,” CEO Dominique Lafont told Port Finance International. During an interview in London, he explained that such a project could ease trade in and out of Somaliland, a breakaway Somali state. The port could also act as a gateway to neighbouring landlocked Ethiopia, Mr Lafont added. With a population in excess of 90 million and a growing influx of foreign investments, Ethiopia is bound to play an increasing role in East Africa, he noted. “We therefore started negotiating with the Somaliland authorities several years ago. These negotiations have been through various twists and turns. For the second time, we are getting closer to conclusion,” Mr Lafont said, before insisting that talks were ongoing and that nothing was settled yet. “We are fully aware of the highly entrepreneurial aspect of this concession.” Bolloré Africa Logistics is the number one operator in Africa, both in terms of ports (15) and TEUs handled. Its boss explained that the French group’s strategy consists in combining the sea ports it holds in concession with the inland logistics network it operates “so as to open up African economies.” “With Ethiopia, we have a textbook case, as it is a totally landlocked country with a huge potential,” Mr Lafont said. Somaliland unilaterally declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and is trying gain international recognition. For Bolloré Africa Logistics, the Berbera project is part of a wider strategy. The group, which has a strong port presence in western and central Africa, wants to expand those port activities to eastern Africa, where it already has logistics activities. In recent years, it won port concessions in Moroni (Comoros) and in Pemba (Mozambique). Besides this “Pan-African axis”, Bolloré has ambitions beyond Africa. A few months ago, it made its first port investment outside the continent: it acquired a minority share in a container terminal in Tuticorin, on the southern tip of India. Mr Lafont told PFI that Bolloré Africa Logistics is looking at opportunities elsewhere on the Indian subcontinent, in South-East Asia, and in parts of Latin and Central America. -

South Sudan quashes coup attempt, President says By Lilian Leposo and Sara Mazloumsaki, CNN December 16, 2013 -- Updated 0716 GMT (1516 HKT) South Sudanese pack their belongings on a bus before their trip back to the South in Khartoum on Saturday. South Sudanese pack their belongings on a bus before their trip back to the South in Khartoum on Saturday. STORY HIGHLIGHTS NEW: South Sudan President says soldiers loyal to a sacked deputy started the fighting The President, Salva Kiir, declares a nighttime curfew "Gunshots/artillery fired over the past few hours in several locations," U.S. Embassy says U.S., British embassies tell their citizens to stay indoors (CNN) -- South Sudan's military has quashed an attempted coup, President Salva Kiir said Monday, after heavy gunfire gripped the capital of Juba. Dressed in fatigues and flanked by government officials, Kiir blamed soldiers loyal to his sacked deputy Riek Machar for starting the fighting. In a televised address, he said the government was in full control of the capital, and announced a nighttime curfew. "They tried to carry out a coup -- a so-called coup d'etat -- but they have failed," Kiir said. "All the people who were involved in this will be arrested." He said a nighttime curfew "for the sake of security and safety of our citizens" would run from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tensions have been high in Africa's newest nation, which split from Sudan two years ago, since Kiir dismissed his entire Cabinet, including his deputy Machar in July. The move further inflamed deep-running tensions between Kiir's Dinka community and Machar's Nuer community. Earlier, heavy gunfire was reported in the city, government official Peter Biar Ajak said. The U.S. and British embassies in Juba urged their citizens via Twitter to stay indoors and be cautious. "Gunshots/artillery fired over the past few hours in several locations in Juba," the U.S. Mission in Juba tweeted. Sporadic gunfire In a statement on its Facebook page, the U.S. Embassy said that while there was now a lull in violence, it continued to receive reports of sporadic gunfire in parts of the city, particularly near Juba University. It said the airport was not operational. It recommended that U.S. citizens use "caution at this time," adding that travel in Juba was not currently safe. It also reiterated an earlier tweet denying Machar had taken shelter there. "We take this opportunity to reaffirm our earlier message that no political or military figures have taken refuge within the U.S. Embassy," the mission said. In a separate statement, the embassy said it was "deeply concerned at the recent outbreak of armed violence" in Juba and echoed calls from the U.N. envoy there for all parties to "cease hostilities immediately and exercise restraint." The British Embassy has issued an alert advising British nationals against all nonessential movement in parts of the country. South Sudan formally split from Sudan in 2011, after decades of conflict. Numerous armed groups remain active in the oil-rich country. Women, children flee to U.N. compound Hundreds of people, mainly women and children, have taken shelter at the U.N. compound near the airport and at a U.N. house in the city, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) said. "We hope the security situation in Juba will quickly normalize to enable the civilians to return very soon to their residential areas. To that end, UNMISS calls on all parties to show continued calm and restraint," it said in a statement. It also denied "any suggestion that the U.N. Mission is harboring any key political or military figures."
