  1. SOMALIA’S AL-SHABAB: STRIKING LIKE MOSQUITOES February 26, 2014 BBC News Africa The storming by al-Shabab fighters of Villa Somalia, the seat of government in the capital, Mogadishu, last Friday did not take me altogether by surprise. On a recent visit to this large, shabby, sprawling compound I was struck by the lackadaisical security. True, I had to walk through a lot of checkpoints, but each one seemed more sleepy and chaotic than the next. I was surprised the African Union and Somali government soldiers let my companion in: His name was not on the security list at the gate, and he was not carrying ID. Hassan_President _FGS President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was elected by MPs in 2012, is under pressure to end the conflict The day after the attack, in which at least 11 people were killed, I spoke by telephone to an al-Shabab official. He sounded relaxed, assured and in a very good mood. “Villa Somalia is meant to be the most protected part of Mogadishu, and Mogadishu is meant to be the most protected part of Somalia,” he said. “Yet we managed to strike the president’s house. My advice to the apostate President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is try to protect your house and your staff before trying to protect your country.” ‘Mogadishu music’ He then went on to describe in great detail how “our boys” prepared for the attack. They took time surveying the area, identifying the weak spots,” he said. “Then they made the car into a bomb by packing it with explosives. “Then they prepared themselves to die like lions. After the vehicle blasted through the gates, our young foot soldiers went through five checkpoints to get to their target.” Read More: Somalia Al Shabab Source: BBC News

  4. ^^ Trust me there will not be a war between us and our pirate friends and even it if it comes to it will never be more than a few skimirishes here and there. The People of Somaliland and Puntland are very civilized
  5. Somaliland is a republic with a legitimate claim to state statehood like any other nation in the African continent its not a tribal fox like the Garowe clan enclave. Puntland has no clear boundaries why dont they claim parts of Kismayo the ssdf clan lives there 2 as they claim. Who told you sool and sanaag belong to one Somaliland clan it belongs to 5 Somaliland clans who live there 2 together how can u than divide it will u divide the big beards of sanaag and add them to the newly created khatumo they live as far as midishe and in ceerigaabo. The same with sool is also shared between various Somaliland clans the garaad clan inhabiting the districts beyond oog while western sool belong to other clans but there are no clear borders between the people of SL since they are the same people have the same ethics shared values interest culture traditions ancestry political culture shared history all of that cannot be denied thats why even the garaad clan cannot share a state with the pirates next door even though there is allot of here say about the confederate clan system created 5 centuries ago. So Somalilland cannot relinquish claims from its territory first the people of those regions want Somaliland to stay in sool and sanaag and believe sool and sanaag are an integral part of Somaliland and sool and sanaag is Somalilad and Somaliland is sool and sanaag and togdheer and awdal and maroodijeex and saaxil Somailand even predates the creation of those regions. And also Somaliland has a legitimate claim to the Land is their god given Land. Even the name Khatumo has its roots in Somaliland Gol khatumo is where the Somaliland party USP was build during the independence struggle of Somaliland in the 1950s so its only natural for Khatumo to be part of SL the last 2 villages taleex and boocame. Even Ali khalif galaydh has clearly stated that he is from Somaliland the Khatumo god father.

And recognizes the entity of khatumo as seperate entity from garowe. But can he do that????

How will he help Puntland listen to cabdi cawar he said he never raised those disputes with the Ethiopians , Second in this interview he said the people of those regions can determine their future, he didnt even say the Land is Puntland and belongs to puntland only. Weak statement there. He only said the dastuur of puntland says is Puntland , I doubt mooge cabdi cawar will make any troubles in those regions. http://puntlandi.com/dhagayso-madaxweyne-cabdiwali-oo-isagoo-jigjiga-jooga-la-wareystey-kna-hadley-arimo-badan-oo-xiiso-leh/

  12. They cut ties with the government of Somalia when the SFG ignored them altogether they lose the most the SFG dont need Garowe, aslong as the embassies are in Mogadishu the international community will bankroll the SFG despite its corruption bad governance and all of that. Garowe loses the most.

  16. Somaliland is getting there building their own roads constructing major infrastructure this makes me proud well done the Somaliland government and the people of Somaliland.
  17. Detoore Somaliland doesn't mind if the HAG eat all the aid aslong as they eat it in Xamar with their damuljadid groups. The HAG communities will turn their aid money in their own pockets which is good for Somaliland. Somaliland takes its part already remember the special arrangement. But people in Somaliland nor the goverment puts allot of time in aid Puntland cares about Mogadishu because its their capital , Somaliland cares little if Mogadishu remains capital or not the situation is fine. The only problem with Mogadishu was the air space and we solved that , the pirates are the biggest losers no Prime Minister in Mogadisu and hassan sheikh mahamuud is the one and only president in the south after aideed who cut all ties with the garowe clan enclave.
  18. The President of Syria understand what is at stake and he tries to form a coalition of those who are dissatisfied with his government and in this way he outmaneuvers. The Saudi Sponsored Jihadist and other Alqaeda affiliated groups. Asad needs also to appoint a prime minister from the coalition and move from there maintain the close cooperation with the Russians and the Iranians, this way he Delegitimizes what they were concocting in Geneva. He also needs to restore relations with the Egyptians sine most of the Arab leaders have abandoned Syria.
  19. Assad: Syria Seeks to Build National Dialogue, Coalitions Al-Manar | February 25, 2014 Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed Monday the importance of dialogue among the state’s parties in order to reach a sound political environment. During his meeting with Baath party figures – Damascus branch, Assad pointed out to the importance of the Syrian capital Damascus, which is featured by preserving the Islamic and Christian inheritance together, thus presenting a model of modern openness. “Damascus played a major role in Syria’s steadfastness during a three-year crisis,” the Syrian President indicated. He also stressed the need for dialogue and effective and constructive communication with the new parties in Syria, in order to identify future mechanisms of sound communication. “We are facing great challenges emerged by the crisis and the first one is to confront the extremist ideology which tries to penetrate the society,” he stated. “We also have unprecedented serious intellectual vacuum… Our duty is to deal with it,” Assad went on to say, adding that “Without dialogue we cannot develop neither the party (Baath) nor the country.” President Assad assured that the popular support of terrorism is shrinking while the reconciliation circle is being widened, and it is the most effective way to fight off the project of defeating Syria.
  20. 90m of British aid to Somalia'helps AlQaeda:Pressure grows to divert cash back to the UK £90m of British aid to Somalia 'helps Al Qaeda': Pressure grows to divert cash back to the UK David Cameron has approved the huge handouts to the war-torn East African country in an attempt to stop it becoming the next Afghanistan. By Tom Kelly and Tim Shipman Monday, February 24, 2014 Ads by Media ViewerAd Options Britain is donating more than £90million a year to Somalia despite strong warnings that its corrupt government is arming Al Qaeda-backed terrorists. David Cameron has approved the huge handouts to the war-torn East African country in an attempt to stop it becoming the next Afghanistan. But a leaked United Nations report has warned of ‘high level and systematic abuses’ by Somali government officials who have passed weapons and ammunition to Al Shabaab – the Al Qaeda-linked Islamic fanatics behind last year’s Kenyan shopping mall massacre in which 67 people died. British aid to Somalia is already channelled through charities and agencies, rather than central government, in a bid to sidestep rampant corruption among officials. A separate study revealed that many of these organisations have been forced to hand over large sums in ‘protection money’ to Al Shabaab to be allowed to work there – even during the drought and famine of 2011 when nearly 260,000 Somalis died. And nearly £500,000 of British aid and supplies has previously been stolen by Al Shabaab militants. The revelations last night prompted MPs to renew calls for a portion of Britain’s £11billion international aid budget be diverted to help flood victims in the West Country and the Thames Valley. More than 290,000 people have now signed the Daily Mail’s petition urging the Government to raid the aid budget to help pay for the clean-up. Ian Liddell-Grainger, the Tory MP for flood-hit Bridgwater in Somerset, told the Mail: ‘This is new evidence of what many MPs have warned about for years – that our aid money ends up in the wrong hands. ‘There are a lot of countries where we shouldn’t be sending aid because we’re not helping the locals and often the money finds its way to despicable people. We need to remember that charity begins at home. There are people in need here.’ Stewart Jackson, the Tory MP for Peterborough, said: ‘Taxpayers are willing to support overseas aid if it goes to deserving people. But when it goes to Third World kleptocrats and terrorists they will be concerned. We need a reassessment of aid when there are pressing priorities at home.’ Somalia was plunged into lawlessness after President Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991. However, International Development Secretary Justine Greening has said Britain is forging a ‘new and special relationship with Somalia’ and must fund it to stop it slipping back into ‘terrorism, famine and insecurity’. The Prime Minister also hosted an international conference in London last year, in which he pledged to help the country rebuild its security forces to tackle insurgents. Mr Cameron said: ‘If we ignore it we will be making the same mistakes that we made in Afghanistan in the 1990s. I’m not prepared to let that happen.’ A Department for International Development spokesman said: ‘This report provides absolutely no evidence that any UK funds have gone to Al Shabaab. ‘DfID works in Somalia because creating a more stable and prosperous world for the UK means tackling the causes of poverty, disease and terrorism at the root.’
  21. I like to be devils advocate some times..... Pirates are harmless, their pirate business has been shut down , galgala cell is becoming more of a threat and Shabaab is moving into Mudug. They have so many troubles
  22. This is just a symbolic gesture but in reality he cannot survive with out the African union troops . This is just to show to the residents of Mogadishu there is hope and its good but in reality its far from the truth. The Amisom forces are much and much more affective than Somali bodyguards. Somali troops were struggling to protect the interior of villa Somalia Abdiweli need to be careful what he does, but I believe this is just for the media and he knows better.
  23. Any military confrontation between Somaliland and the garowe clan enclave will be a A win for SL, two successive garowe president failed to confront Somaliland, cabdi cawar will not be any different , he talks about grand PL conference he refused to recognize khatumo as an entity if he goes it alone and attacks Somaliland buffer khatumo in taleex and bocame he will drive them into the hands of SL and Somaliland will be forced to push beyond the Somalia Somaliland border. Cabdi cawar made it very easy for SL to score points the moment he made biindhe and karaash president. But something tells me cabdi cawar is all but talk. What will be interesting is that what will cabdi cawar do when khatumo tries to hold a conference in taleex about their khatumo , how will he approach that , Somaliland is just going to watch it khatumo will serve as a bufferzone. faroole attacked them in taleex , what will cabdi cawar do is the question. The situation is much more complex that u lot think there is a reason why puntland leaders were scared to death to talk about the sool region ,even cabdi cawar hardly talks about it. he talks about unity of his people, but not about sool.
