Turkish Airline set to commence flights to Somaliland
Xaaji Xunjuf replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
malistar why are you HAGites always making the wrong decision u made this mistake in 1991 than in 2000 than in 2006, why do you guys keep repeating the same mistake. Follow the policies of the Kenyans and the Ethiopians, The Kenyans are opening a consulate in Kismayo and they are pushing to make sure the bufferzones remains , Ethiopians are excellent in having a mediating policy in Somalia, the Kenyans are learning from the Ethiopians they want to strangle you sending more troops having more leverage on you. Ethiopia and Kenya want the parallel strength in Somalia to remain, this suits their political interest. The Turks have their own interest in the region but the Turks there is little they can do , because the Turks are not part of our region. They can provide logistics investment and rebuild parts of Somalia, but thats about it, they cannot protect you from your foes the Ugandans and burundis are just there for the money. The SFG cannot even undermine Galmudug or take control of parts of Mudug and it cannot even challenge Cabdi cawar if it wants to. The more you keep having the same policy and hostile attitude towards Somaliland independence bid the more you become lonely in the region, there is only one way to break the chain of strength of Kenya and Ethiopia and rebuild Somalia that is if you become a true friend of Somaliland IGAD will be more balanced, but because of this impotent policy the Mogadishu elites have their predicament will not change any time soon. The federalism the tribal autonomy states and the political interference comes from Nairobi and Addis ababa and there is only one way to stop that and close the doors. -
This is a very sad image Somalis should be ashamed of themselves but its a pity Somalis hate each other more than anything

There is a Somaal race living in the Somali peninsula an imagined Somali region in the horn of Africa, some are not even part of the Somali race and were assimilated, how ever identifying ur self with a mere Somali cultural identity will not cut it. Somaal door is very wide open if you learn Somaali language and become a Muslim u can become a Somali , some even say u dont have to be a Muslim. There is no such thing as a Somali nation , the Somali republic ceased to exist in 1991 it was easily undermined by rebel movements beyond repair. Because its identity of ethno nationalism was conceived on weak fundamental principles, religion and a mere language is not enough to build a nation, people need to have the same history suffered same plight feel as one, have same cultural traits have the same political culture identities is shaped by experiences through out the centuries, the Somali political identity has no real meaning for a Somali from Djibouti and a Somali from Wajir what do they possibly share other than a language? This whole mantra of we are the same people same ethnic same culture same religion same language has been repeated over and a over again, by the same ethno nationalist of the 1950s, these people were trying to convince them self , nature became nature after all. They knew the whole ethno nationalism period was based on emotions deep inside but they were burying their head in the sand and there was no real bond between the people the war is our witness. When asked about a shared history some will bring up Imam Ahmed a 16 century Jihadist from Somaliland who's identity till this day remains a mystery some say he was an Arab and others say he is a Somali, and Somali clanists fight over his clan identity. The Funny part is Imam Ahmed never set foot outside what is today Eastern Ethiopia and Somaliland, for Somalis in Kenya and Somalis in Somalia , Imam Ahmed means little, than there is The Mullah another 19 century Jihadist who spend most of his time in Somaliland and raided twice parts of Somalia, basing your historic national identity on 2 Jihadists and reinventing history and telling the Somali masses they were fighting for Somali ethno nationalist cause will not cut it and Somalis in Somalia Djibouti Somaliland Ethiopia and Kenya will not buy it. Even people of Somalia who claim to pledge allegiance to the blue flag have their own subnational identity Puntland Jubbaland Galmudug south western state. If you want to unite the Somali speaking people u need to defeat the rest and claim the Emperor of the Somalis , i doubt any one can ever do that. But good luck to that my friend

Somalia and Somaliland are in talks over the joint shared aviation management him being at a meeting where the SL aviation minister is present has nothing to do with it. Mogadishu cannot even get out the aid that was pledged to them by Brussels let alone allow an Airliner to come to Somaliland. When Mogadishu helps its self u can brag about Mogadishu having any influence. Today alone 7 security forces were killed in Somalia, u have other pressing issues than worrying about Turkish airliners coming to Somaliland. -
Poor Somali kenyans ilaahay bay leeyihin

Somaliland nationalism is stronger than what ever. Somalia based ethno nationalism was easily undermined it was conceived on very weak foundations from its very inception. Somaliland nationalism Sacrifice dedications Commitment Compromises precise calculations Extreme patriotism Self pride it has worked for the people the past 23 years and for centuries to come it will work The green white red the symbol of dignity and pride and the defenders of the Faith They say it all

Somaliland should indeed be eyeing the big and growing market of Ethiopia, thats why bollore is also investing that type of amount of money they know that, Ethiopias market is growing in the next coming years. Free trade zone is inevitable in the near future , Somaliland should eye and invest in the sidamo coffee plantations in southern Ethiopia, to the same way Xoogsade did in the70s and 80s and early 1990s. Somaliland can be the maritime hub of the entire region., i am just a little worried that they dont lease the port for to long max 20 years not more.

Hargeisa has instructed a British lawyer to negotiate with the French group Bolloré to hammer out the details of the agreement to manage Berbera port. Meetings began about two weeks ago between representatives of Bolloré Africa Logistics and the British law practice McCue & Partners to work on an agreement for the French group to run Berbera port. In fact, several months ago the Somaliland government instructed the firm’s main partner, Jason Daniel McCue, 44, to look for funding to develop the Berbera corridor towards Ethiopia. This is a vast project including an oil pipeline, estimated to cost a total of around $2.5 billion. This mandate was attributed to the Berbera Development Company (BDC) founded by McCue in London in April 2013 to make the Somaliland port into a logistics hub for the whole region. McCue and BDC have consequently also become Bolloré’s primary contact points for Somaliland. BDC has three directors in addition to McCue, who is interested in security via his MODA Alliance Group. They are the Britons John Richard Moore, 45, who heads John Moore & Co and Ibrahim Ali Yusuf, 41, plus the Canadian Ahmed Mohamed Abokor, 48. The latter lives in Djibouti, where he is in partnership with the businessman Mohamed Said Guedi in the company Afro Shnagai-Djibouti. He is also one of the directors of Pontus Marine Ltd (ION 1359) – an industrial fishing company in Somaliland founded last year in London – alongside the British lawyer from Somaliland, Mohammed Yusef who is moreover the founder of Invicta Capital. Pontus Marine has one heavyweight as a non-executive director: the Conservative MP Henry Bellingham, a former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in charge of African affairs. Somaliland Hails British Step Forward in Independence Bid Somaliland Hails British Step Forward in Independence Bid Somalia Captures Suspect in '09 AU Base Bombing TEXT SIZE Henry Ridgwell April 05, 2014 LONDON — A city in Britain has become the first to officially recognize Somaliland’s claim to independence. The vote -- which is purely symbolic and carries no legal weight -- is nevertheless being hailed by Somaliland leaders as a big step forward in their decades-long campaign to break away from Somalia. Somalilanders celebrated outside Sheffield city hall after the council voted Thursday to recognize the region’s right to self-determination. Thousands of people of Somaliland origin live in the northern British city. Somaliland’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Bihi Yonis attended the vote; he later told VOA of its symbolic importance. “Somaliland has the border, the population [in favor of independence], the currency, the independence, the elections, the democracy, the rule of law, the human rights record of Somaliland. And I think they have looked into all of those areas and realized that Somaliland has met the requirements of statehood.” Somaliland occupies the northern section of Somalia. The rest of the country has been plagued by lawlessness and violence since the overthrow of Somalia’s leader in 1991. Later that same year, Somalilanders voted in a referendum to become independent -- a vote that has not been recognized by any nation. Oasis of peace Mohamed Yonis calls Somaliland a relative oasis of peace. “We have a proper functioning government and institutions, while the other part of Somalia is actually burning and having a lot of difficulties as you know -- issues of piracy, terrorism, al-Shabab [islamic militants].” Somaliland did gain brief statehood upon its independence from Britain in June 1960. But its government chose to merge with Somalia. Convincing the world that Somaliland should be recognized as independent will not be easy, according to Alex Vines of London-based policy analyst group Chatham House. “Internationally, everybody says it would have to be led by Africa," said Vines. "When you talk to African leaders, it’s like, ‘Well, we might consider it, but we wouldn’t be the first.’” Somaliland authorities insist the region’s economy would support independence. Thriving economy The port of Berbera lies just west of the tip of the Horn of Africa. It’s a chaotic, dusty trade hub; camels, goats and sheep are transferred from trucks and carts into the market, to be exported across Africa and the Gulf. Agriculture is the backbone of Somaliland’s economy; Minister of Livestock Abdi Aw Dahir Ali said the industry can grow even bigger. “It does not export only livestock from Somaliland. Berbera exports livestock from Ethiopia, from Somalia, from Kenya. So it's a center of export of all livestock from the Horn.” Somaliland authorities have handed out exploration licenses to a number of foreign oil firms, to the anger of the Somali government in Mogadishu. The country also could offer an export hub for neighboring landlocked Ethiopia, said Vines. “It wouldn’t be necessarily against the interests of neighboring Ethiopia. But the precedent of recognizing Somaliland would then add complexity to Ethiopia itself,” he said. Somaliland authorities say talks with the Somali government are progressing. Observers say Mogadishu favors unity, though, and few expect any countries to follow Sheffield’s lead in the near future. http://www.voanews.com/content/somaliland-hails-british-step-forward-in-independence-bid/1886918.html?utm_source=voaafrica&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=en&utm_content=twitterfeed

Oday Somali i dont share ur views , Somaliland does not need Somalia it has proven the past 23 years , scare tactics will not work and using non existent threats and boogeyman. Somaliland is doing fine for what ever tools it has now but i can do allot better but i believe they will get there if they work hard. They need to focus on 3 things development the Military and the search for Ictraaf those 3. These 3 items should be mentioned and than Somaliland will do fine.

President Xassan bila shaag, what will he do.
Xaaji Xunjuf replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Its going to be very interesting in the next coming months with the formation of South Western state Ethiopia really supports this state since the Ethiopian troops are stationed there. But since some of the elites in baydhabo want the six state, where will the compromise come will gedo be added to south western state and Lower shabelle. In order to solve the issue. President hassan is between a rock and a hard place , if he supports the six state he will alienate Jubba state and his own constituency particularly the lower shabelle is also contested. If he supports the 3 states he will put the people of baydhabo against each other, what will he do.
