A Coordinated Threat Against Somaliland’s Stability and Sovereignty Somalia’s Escalating Aggression: A Coordinated Threat Against Somaliland’s Stability and Sovereignty In a dramatic and alarming escalation, the Somali government has launched a multifaceted campaign aimed at destabilizing Somaliland. This coordinated effort seeks to undermine Somaliland’s economic stability, disrupt its international aid, and challenge its sovereignty, presenting a significant threat to the region’s stability and Somaliland’s hard-won autonomy. Somalia’s Strategic Moves Recent intelligence from sources close to Villa Somalia reveals that the Somali government has taken aggressive measures to isolate Somaliland on the international stage. Official letters have been dispatched to numerous countries and international organizations that support Somaliland’s development projects. These communications demand that these entities immediately cease all direct interactions with the Somaliland administration, effectively cutting off vital support and aid. Villa Somalia has established a specialized committee, ominously titled the "Committee for Reducing Somaliland Threats," predominantly composed of representatives from various Mogadishu-based clans. This committee's mission is to exert pressure on international donors and organizations to withdraw their support from Somaliland, including those contributing to the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF). This targeted strategy is designed to severely cripple Somaliland’s economic development and isolate it from critical global support networks. The Role of Regional Powers: Turkey and Egypt The Somali government’s aggressive stance is bolstered by significant backing from regional powers, notably Turkey and Egypt. Both countries, which previously had favorable relations with Somaliland, have shifted their support towards Somalia’s campaign. Turkey, once a strong advocate for Somaliland, has now aligned itself with Somalia’s efforts to undermine its stability. Similarly, Egypt has intensified its involvement, driven by its own geopolitical interests and previous failures to exert influence over Somaliland. Turkey’s shift is particularly concerning, given its previous role as a key supporter of Somaliland’s development and diplomatic efforts. The change in Turkey’s stance reflects a broader geopolitical maneuvering aimed at consolidating regional power and countering Somaliland’s influence. Egypt’s increased involvement, motivated by strategic and political calculations, adds another layer of complexity to the situation, further endangering Somaliland’s position. The Impact on Somaliland’s Sovereignty and Development The coordinated actions by Somalia, Turkey, and Egypt pose a direct and severe threat to Somaliland’s sovereignty and development. The Somali government’s campaign to cut off international support and disrupt economic projects is intended to weaken Somaliland’s ability to govern effectively and maintain stability. This effort not only jeopardizes Somaliland’s current development projects but also undermines its long-term economic prospects and international standing. The pressure from regional powers exacerbates the situation, with Turkey and Egypt’s support for Somalia amplifying the impact of the Somali government’s actions. This concerted effort to destabilize Somaliland highlights the complex geopolitical dynamics at play and the significant risks facing Somaliland’s continued progress and stability. Somaliland’s Resilience and National Resolve In the face of these mounting threats, Somaliland has demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination. The people of Somaliland, renowned for their strong sense of national pride and unity, are prepared to defend their sovereignty and protect their hard-earned stability. Despite the aggressive actions from Somalia and its regional allies, Somaliland remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining its independence and sovereignty. The internal political challenges within Somaliland only add to the complexity of the situation, yet the unity and resolve of Somaliland’s citizens are a powerful testament to their commitment to their nation. Somaliland’s readiness to resist external pressures and defend its achievements underscores its determination to safeguard its future. A Call to the International Community The international community must respond urgently and decisively to the escalating threats posed by Somalia, Turkey, and Egypt. Somaliland’s sovereignty and development are at risk due to these aggressive actions, and it is crucial for global actors to support Somaliland’s right to self-determination and counteract the destabilizing efforts of Somalia and its allies. Global support is essential to help Somaliland navigate these challenges and maintain its path towards stability and prosperity. The world must recognize the gravity of the situation and take action to prevent further escalation and disruption of Somaliland’s development. As the crisis continues to unfold, it is imperative for the international community to stand with Somaliland, uphold its sovereignty, and address the regional aggression threatening its future. The coming weeks will be critical in determining how the situation evolves and what steps will be taken to ensure Somaliland’s continued resilience and independence. -

Waddani Party rebukes Somalia’s directive on ‘Somaliland’ Sunday August 25, 2024 Khadar Hussein Abdi, the Secretary-General of the Waddani Party, addresses the media in Hargeisa regarding Somalia’s recent directive to remove references to "Somaliland" from business services, emphasizing that the move will not alter Somaliland's status. Hargeisa (HOL) — The Waddani Party has issued a sharp rebuke of the Somali government's recent directive, which orders money transfer companies to cease using the name "Somaliland." The move, according to the Waddani Party, risks escalating tensions and could provoke conflict and hostility in the region. Khadar Hussein Abdi, Secretary-General of the Waddani Party, spoke to the press in Hargeisa, asserting that the Somali government's decisions would not alter Somaliland's status. "Somaliland was not established through mere words or documents; it was built on blood and sacrifice. If necessary, we are prepared to defend it. The removal of the name from a website won't change Somaliland's reality," Abdi stated. Abdi added that Somaliland's distinct history and recognized borders, criticizing the Somali government for what he called the politicization of trade and travel. He warned that such actions would only deepen divisions and foster hostility, ultimately doing nothing to change Somaliland's position. The directive, issued by Somalia's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, mandates that all businesses and financial institutions, including major remittance companies such as Paysii, Dahabshiil, and Jubba Express, remove any references to "Somaliland" from their websites and services by September 1. It has been met with widespread opposition, not only from the Waddani Party but also from the Somaliland government and political opposition. Somaliland's Information Minister, Ali Hassan Mohamed, known as Ali Marehan, warnedcompanies against complying with the directive, stating that Somaliland would hold any company that adhered to Somalia's orders accountable. Abdi said that successive Somali governments have shown animosity toward Somaliland, emphasizing that without a strong military and a united populace, Somaliland would struggle to receive the respect it deserves on the international stage. Abdi's statement comes a day after Somaliland's Minister of Parliamentary Relations, Abdinasir Buuni and Faysal Ali Warabe, chairman of Somaliland's UCID party, accused the Waddani Party's presidential candidate, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, of aligning with Somalia in a bid to weaken Somaliland's push for independence. Waddani, however, has strongly denied the allegations from both Buuni and Warabe, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated attempts to undermine the party ahead of the upcoming elections. -
Somaliland stands as the least colonial of all Somali countries . Somali is the official language, and the ethnicity of Somaliland’s people is entirely Somali. There are no other languages spoken no Bravanese, Swahili, Italian, or Maay-Maay no other garam garam so waxad garatay maha. Reflecting on the colonial identity you mentioned, it’s important to note that Somaliland was a British protectorate, not a colony in the true sense. A mere handful of British officials resided in Berbera, and that was about it . The local government was led by Somaliland’s own chiefs, with the British primarily concerned with patrolling the Gulf of Aden. Consequently, Somaliland experienced minimal colonisation, which is why Somali culture remains so deeply rooted and vibrant there, more so than the failed state of somalia. In Somaliland, the elders hold real power, preserving a tradition of governance and wisdom that is absent in Somalia walanweyns will say xaww sheega duuqa,. And let us not overlook the fact that Somalia still uses the same coat of arms adopted during the Italian colonial period, featuring a cheetah. How imaginative one would think they might have taken the opportunity to craft a new national symbol. Yet, you have the audacity to label Somaliland a colonial entity, while the country you seem to favour clings to symbols from its colonial past, unchanged since 1936. Pitty indeed.

The TPLF supplied weapons to Somaliland, really for free and every piece of armament we acquired from Ethiopia was purchased by the Somaliland government nothing was given freely. As the old adage goes, "There is no such thing as a free lunch, dear lad." Now, consider who armed the feeble paper government of Somalia, Kenya and Uganda or the same Ethiopia that has thousands of troops inside of Somalia. Somaliland is a nation with deep-rooted institutions, built by its people. The British have not set foot in Somaliland for over 64 years, so I fail to understand your fixation on the past. There is nothing colonial about Somaliland’s borders. If you oppose these boundaries due to some feigned disdain for colonial demarcations, then, by the same logic, you should consistently reject the borders between Kenya and Somalia and Ethiopia and Somalia , or even between Somaliland and Djibouti. History has shown that many have attempted to challenge Somaliland, but they have all failed. Afweyne sought to forge an alliance with the weak alliance of laangaabs, to defeat the noble men of the North, yet he did not succeed, matter infact the entire Somali state collapsed, they lacked the fortitude to conquer the Duriyad people. Neither your so-called Dawarsi state nor those in Laascaanood, who are now reduced to begging their diaspora for their welfare in WhatsApp groups, can pose a serious challenge to Somaliland. Rest assured, the Somaliland government has significant plans in store for them. Why are you upset with Hamza? He is correct Awdal is indeed peaceful, and this notion of a "Dawarsi state" is simply nonexistent. There are no tensions, no conflicts, and certainly no war in Awdal. What would you have him say? That there is conflict , do you want him to lie??

I fail to understand why you lot support the Democrats, given their endorsement of the LGBTQ+ community, often aligning themselves with values that some might consider degenerate. We've even seen Ilhan Omar publicly dancing with them. Wouldn't it be more prudent to support the conservatives instead? -

Yes, I understand. However, the companies I mentioned are not co-owned by Somalilanders, nor do they have shares held by them. I deliberately excluded Hormuud and Telesom due to their substantial presence, And star african Air , but the others are predominantly owned by Koonfurians. Unfortunately, the small percentage of Somalilanders who hold shares in these companies would be collateral damage. So they could be targetted byt he SL goverment. Once they are not allowed to operate in Somaliland ,the Bunker govt will think twice , because their people will be hurt the most now. -

In response to the policies implemented by the Bunker government, Somaliland should consider taking decisive action by banning all companies owned by iWalanweyns. I can identify five major companies currently operating within Somaliland that should be targeted for such measures, and their expulsion should be promptly enforced. Furthermore, the Somaliland government ought to confiscate all assets and properties belonging to these entities. We could begin with Sagal Jet, a company owned by an individual from Mogadishu, which has significantly profited within Somaliland in particular In hargeisa and borama . It is time they experience the consequences of their actions. Next, Amal Bank should be closed, along with Premier Bank, which is also owned by a fellow from Mogadishu even culusow has shares in premier bank. In addition to these financial institutions, the Somaliland government should consider shutting down all media outlets linked to t Somalia privatly owned or not, that are operating within its borders. There is also a logistical firm i saw in Wajaale two years ago this company should also be expelled .And a complete halt on imports from Somalia, even if they only constitute 35 percent of the total, would further solidify this stance and underscore the seriousness of our response. -

Somalia demands removal of 'Somaliland' references from business websites Saturday August 24, 2024 Somalia's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jibril Abdirashid Haji, addresses key issues during a government meeting in Mogadishu, emphasizing the enforcement of directives aimed at safeguarding the nation's territorial integrity. CREDIT / SONNA Mogadishu (HOL) — The federal government has issued a strict order requiring all remittance companies and businesses operating in Somalia, explicitly addressing Paysii, Dahabshiil, Jubba Express, and other financial institutions, to eliminate any references to "Somaliland" from their websites and financial services. The memo, aimed at reinforcing Somalia's territorial integrity, will take effect on September 1, with violators facing legal consequences under Somali law. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in a statement released on Saturday, emphasized that the use of "Somaliland" undermines the sovereignty and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The ministry warned that companies failing to comply would be seen as violating the nation's independence and could be subject to severe penalties. The directive is part of Somalia's effort to ensure that all entities operating within its borders adhere to the official stance that Somaliland remains part of Somalia. The government has recently taken similar actions, including enforcing compliance by international airlines. Earlier this week, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) narrowly avoided suspending Ethiopian Airlines after the carrier complied with demands to label Somali destinations on its booking platforms correctly. The airline, which initially used only airport codes to bypass the issue, has since updated its system to reflect the correct naming conventions required by the SCAA. Flydubai, a state-owned airline from the United Arab Emirates, also complied swiftly with the SCAA's directive by removing the term "Somaliland" from its booking page and correctly listing "Hargeisa, Somalia" as the destination. The dispute between Somalia and the self-declared Republic of Somaliland has escalated in recent months, particularly after Somaliland's controversial agreement in January to allow landlocked Ethiopia to establish a naval base on its coastline. The deal also includes the construction of a port and a transport corridor. Somalia andencd Somaliland have been at odds since 1991 when Somaliland declared independence from Somalia following the collapse of the central government. Despite the self-declared indepene, Somaliland's sovereignty has not been recognized internationally. The federal government in Mogadishu maintains that Somaliland remains a part of Somalia and has consistently opposed any actions that imply otherwise. -
