Originally posted by Johnny: i rather leave the way i was dancing to your imagination, but it must been wrong in a way to have caught the attention of the people who were dancing near us. Well johnny, my imagination has come up with you looking like John Travolta (back in the days) wearing some tight flares and a glittery (mainly silver) shaati strutting his stuff to "fever night fever night...we know how we do it" How close am I??

25 somali boys suspected in the killing of a somali youth
Mowgli replied to Caano Geel's topic in General
this is nothing new, somali guys fighting each other because they live in different ends of London, always happens in the somali parties...knives, guns, bottles...chain saw amazing what they'll come with The difference this time is that so many people were arrested -
don't know about urinal talk...but I do find that some of my best ideas come to me whist in the bog

I wonder why its ok for tom and jerry to be naked, unless they go swimming in which they wear trunks or they are playing at a concert in which case they wear a tux but no trouser?? Why does donald duck wear only a shirt and hat and no trousers...yet he does when he goes swimming???

Yes yes... other sisters complimenting each other on their looks is the most uncomfortable situation, so here is a story...let me just say this did not happen to me, but a friend.. So my friend goes into the local takeaway before she heads home...in there are some arab girls she has seen at the mosque...the dialogue goes Arab lady: salaams sister how are you? My friend: w's alhamdullilah, i'm good and how are you guys doing? Arab ladies: Alhumdulilah *idle chitchat continues* Arab lady 1: You know sister mashaAllah you are really beautiful *insert awkward silence* My friend: Thanks....erm you have a really nice teeth *awkward silence 2...Arab ladies look at each other* Arab lady 2: Those aren't....her real teeth...she had an accident a while back... *insert the mother of all awkward silences* My friend : erm...I'm sorry to hear that *runs for exit* Of course my friend wax walaan waye, I mean who compliments folks on their ilko??

After Passion mentioned something about results I felt like checking if mine were published yet...imagine my utter shock and disbelief when I see a 0 in one of the columns...good news is, i just looked in the wrong one and results still arent out. The intention of this week was to do some intensive work on my thesis, obviously when I found myself still in my pjs an hour and a half ago I figure today is one of those vegetable days...where you do nothing except lie in bed whilst watching Family Guy...now if you'll excuse me folks

I hate them I hate them I hate them! But ppl seemed to notice my uncomfortableness (is that a word?) and then comment even further making me cringe even more...so at the end of the day...always best to say thank you with a smile

lol ibtisam, west london...need I say more? Only a few days ago I was having a general conversation with this police officer then he started asking me about my family, if I had any siblings, more specifically brothers and I said yeah sure...then he asked me what they did and i said they are still young...he then continued about telling me how the majority of the crime in our area was indeed committed by Somali youth. Katrina, like always I agree with you  Charity starts at home...make sure your siblings and cousins etc have better things to do than standing in some street corners....teach them that education is the key...some parents do not give a monkey's **** about what their kids do or don't do or how they are progressiving at school...a parent that has been in the country for more than ten years and still cannot speak the languauge isn't exactly a role model.

Lavie I have to disagree with you there...the high school I went to did not have a lot of somali students, but most that were there would not even talk to ppl they suspected of being of a "foe" clan. Even now I come across ppl (youth) after five minutes of talking to you ask you about your clan. Yes we know the future is bleak, yes we know that our youth are in trouble...but actions speak louder then words.

E-Mentoring Program for Somalis by Somalis?
Mowgli replied to Katrina's topic in Developement | Projects
Katrina great idea sis...freaky too...just before I clicked on this section I was thinking about a homework help club sort of thing and I find your topic here ...SOL is a large community with nomads from a variety of different fields...surely we could offer some sort of help or guidance to others in the same field as us or those thinking about it?? Will comment more later inshaAllah -
Did anyone used to watch ren and stimpy? Hmmm I always found that cartoon slightly disturbing

PS Things never to lend include DVDs, books, notes and clothes. Just before the summer, a friend of mine was like hey I'm sick and I'm not going home till a few more weeks, can I borrow some dvds? I was like sure ok...He helped himself to 99.98% of my dvd collections, i forgot about it because i went straight home after my exams...I come back and i'm like haye where's my stuff...I get opps (some in birmingham and some in france ). I'd notice from before I'd lend a dvd to my somali freidns...i won't see it back at all or it would be goen for a few mts. But the summer experience was enough to last a lifetime

Alhumdullilah my friends don't ask to borrow money from me....if i lend someone money and they say I'll pay you back on X date and X day comes and goes....I feel bad saying to them hey do you have my money, for fear they'll say that they are still in a tight spot. Obviously best friend(s) do not count...we never "borrow" from each other per se and it doesnt really help knowning each others pay day either.

Sorry...wrong post

Wearing a two piece scarf has its uses...when it gets too bad...pull it over your face...although the last time I tried that on the trains I had too many ppl staring at me...maybe it wasnt such a good idea to do that so soon after the london bombings...either way, ppl avoid sitting next to you and thereby avoiding qof uraayo

What's up with the sign "CAUTION...MEN AT WORK" should we be in shock that men are actually capable of work? or should we be cautious because they aren't good at what they do & that something is gonna hit us on the head...either way AVOID AVOID AVOID

FF exactly! Bishaaro...just like when somalis say to pregnant women may your birthing be like mukulaal matagayso?? Why do ppl say that...that is beyond xaasidnimo...Have you guys ever seen a cat vomiting? I assure you its the most painful thing to watch in the world... Stoic I get that too...why do ppl assume I speak arabic just because I'm Somali?? Why do random ppl (non muslims) that I've never met before say hi to me in the street and old ladies feel compelled to tell me their lifes' stories?? I wonder why when I type one hand is always cold and the other warm...even though I use both hands to type...
