For the life of me I don't know how a uniost can connivence me why joining back to corupt dissfunctional state is good for my people lol

If the UN WHO says to get benefits you need to join with a Somali delegation I say go for it cause it benefits Somaliland. Let me ask you lots this question has the TFG health minister traveled up north to Somaliland? The answer is big fat no. Somaliland will get the benefits in going to this meeting which in end helps it people.

I got big secret to tell I was there in that video where the kids waved that flag, the shocking fact is that those kids where given money to march. Most people refused while other took the money. That why in the video you don't see that much people. Most of adwal where on the streets supporting Somaliland.

HARGEISA –The international humanitarian mine-clearance charity group ‘The Halo Trust’, based in the Scottish city of Glasgow, officially presented the keys for a newly rehabilitated police armoury to the deputy chief of Somaliland police, Mr Col. Abdir-Rahman Liban Ahmed, during an official ceremony to mark the completion of the armoury. The ceremony was held in the Special Police Unit (SPU) headquarters in Hargeisa on Tuesday (19/04/11). Those attending the handover ceremony were Mr Col. Sandy Wade who is the British Military Attaché at the UK embassy in Addis Ababa, Mr. Ahmed Ali Maah from Somaliland Mine Action Centre, Mr Dahir Muse Abraar the chief of Somaliland CID and other high ranking officials from Somaliland government and police authorities. Funds for the newly rehabilitated police armouries, a special repository purpose built buildings which will store armaments and munitions used by the Somaliland police, was provided by the British government as part of its policy to support the government of Somaliland continue to sustain its current stability and peace despite the overwhelming volatile nature of the region. The new rehabilitated armoury building was opened by the deputy chief of police, Col. Abdi-Rahman Ahmed. The deputy-chief thanked Halo Trust for the completion of the armoury building and for training his officers on the control and management procedures for the repository and also thanked the British government for its assistance in providing the funds needed to rehabilitate the country’s police armouries. Mohamed Ahmed Warsame, a senior Halo Trust manager, flanking the deputy chief of police during ‘the cutting of the ribbon’ of the newly rehabilitated armoury building said, ‘that Halo Trust would like to personally thank the deputy chief for taking the honour of opening the armoury,” and thanked everyone for attending the ceremony organised by the Halo Trust. In particular, Warsame thanked the British government for providing the funds for the rehabilitation of Somaliland’s police armouries. Warsame, furthermore added that, “this project of armoury rehabilitation is an expression of Halo Trust’s current work of mine-clearance in Somaliland and that Halo Trust is not deviating from its core commitment of getting mines out of the ground in Somaliland and will continue to run its mine-clearance program as it has done since 1999.” According to the Halo Trust Somaliland programme manager, Mr Roly Clark, Halo Trust has completed the rehabilitation of the SPU armaments storage facility at the SPU Hargeisa command centre and said, “his organisation plans to complete the second armoury by the end of the month (April) which is located at Somaliland’s CID headquarters in Hargeisa. The two armouries will each house a capacity to hold 1,100 rifles and several hundred handguns + munitions in a safe and a secure environment.” Clark also pointed out that “the buildings are fitted with thick metal vault ‘safe-deposit’ type doors and reinforced concrete walls and roof. The rooms contain special walled-shelving units and gun-racks fitted on the floor for holding large and small firearms along with special rooms for storing munitions in large metal walled cabinet units and steel chest boxes fixed on the floor. In addition, Halo Trust has been providing various training courses for SPU police officers on the management of armoury control procedures and the safe handling of firearms and munitions,” Clark told journalists at the ceremony. The rehabilitation of Somaliland’s police armouries and the training of its police forces is only one part of the British government’s determination to booster Somaliland’s security capacities. What was not mentioned or covered in the ceremony was the container seen outside the SPU armoury building which was recently delivered as part of the armoury rehabilitation program. The container has inside a cargo of thousands of brand new AK47 rifles and munitions purchased from the Czech Republic by the British government on behalf of the Somaliland police force, and are part of the British government’s assistance to boosting security in Somaliland. The newly rehabilitated armoury at SPU headquarters and the one at the CID headquarters will both house these new Czech-made AK47 rifles and munitions currently inside the container. It was only last February when Nairobi based British Senior UK representative for Somalia, Mr Matt Baugh, wrote to the Somali TFG president and the Somali TFG ambassador for Kenya in Nairobi, in order to explain his governments commitments to safe guarding Somaliland’s security needs and at the same time, tried to reassure the TFG of the British government’s policy towards as a whole the region’s security. Mr Baugh’s letter came in response after an official compliant was submitted by the TFG to the British government and made a strong objection and reservations of the British government’s ambitious plans in bolstering Somaliland’s security resources and security personnel capacities and training. Chief among the TFG’s complaint to the British government was the issue of Her Majesty’s government supplying Somaliland’s police forces with new armaments and equipment. To this Mr Baugh said in his letter ‘As a matter of courtesy, we have notified the TFG of any UK project relating to the security sector of Somaliland that requires the approval of the UN Sanctions Committee. This includes, for example, the providing of training and replacement weapons to its police special protection unit.’ Indeed, as part of the armoury rehabilitation program, already a great majority of SPU forces rifles and munitions have been dismantled and destroyed and is only a matter of time when we’ll see these new AK47 rifles issued to Somaliland’s SPU forces, thanks to the British government. Somaliland all the way baby!

^^^ You guy's are so clownish its funny. First their is No Adwal State, the locals are not killing somaliland soliders or people connected to the government and second the Elders in Adwal support Somaliland unlike segements of the elders in SSC region. So please people especially to the anti-somaliland crowd stop dreaming of somaliland down fall and work on improving your regions of control. In Puntland their is a killing zone emerging and the south is still in flames. Instead of saying i hope this or that happens to somaliland hope for the best for your region.

Hargaysa [SNM], we have a problem: The rise of AWDAL. 1995 till today.
Freedom replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Duke o Duke man i have come back from my nice trip to UAE and i return to see you still dreaming of the death of Somaliland. I wonder if you dream of somaliland in your dreams, when you eat or use the bathroom lol. Regardless to points i must give you, first i was in Awdal last month and the majority of the populace specially the Youth support Somaliland. From College rooms to the youth walking down the street and for Somaliland. Second since Adwal joined Somaliland their was no wars, fighting or ill factor pointed towards Awdal. So far the people are developming their region they have reps in Govenrment and Parliment and Vice is from that region. Third all the leaders within Awdal support somaliland and 4th there are huge populace that live in the capital inter marry with the locals and are tied together. Your aim which i must say goes against everything you always talk about IE unity shows me you for Unity only if its against Somaliland. If your aim is to wish every region form states based on tribal group then your dream of Unity country of Somalia will die for the simple fact that if you push the idea of Tribal unity as being important then Regional or in Somaliland case national unity then you only create a place where people support Tribes then the nation. In either case you only bring death to Somalia then life if you push this idea. Lastly you say " SNM hegemony" a hidden meaning what you really want to say his the tribe name but cant lol. Adwal people live intermarry with us and had a President for 8 yrs that represented the Adwal and your so called SNM hegemony so please stop trying to use the Tribe card cause it aint working. In the past you talked about Puntland this and Somalia that and so far all the things you said would happen never did. This is just one in a line of talk you make that in the end never comes to be. -

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) today releases the union's annual report on state of freedom of the press in Somalia in 2010 summarising major press freedom violations and challenges in southern and central regions of Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland. The yearly report, which describes cases of killings, arrests, injury, expulsion, death threats, imprisonment, looting of media houses, media houses taken over, court cases against journalists and journalists fleeing, arranges unequivocally the violations in the order of their occurrences. The report, entitled “Mouth-murder” and Media Hijacking: A Year of Heartache and Fear for Somali Journalists, states that “the most attacks against journalists have been attributed to Islamist armed forces, followed by the Puntland administration and their security forces and the transitional federal government”. “Killings of journalists have been a source of terrible pain in the hearts of journalists especially in the conflict-ravaged city of Mogadishu, which is still where most journalists were murdered in our beloved country,” said Omar Faruk Osman, NUSOJ Secretary General. NUSOJ cited that since killing journalists has not been entirely effective in silencing independent journalism, the armed Islamist groups, al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam, have resorted to seizing private media houses from their legitimate owners, taking over a total of seven media houses to use them for war propaganda and hate campaigns against those who fail to promote their ideology. “Independent reporting is no longer possible from places such as Baidoa, Jowhar, Beledweyne, Bardhere and Kismayo” declared Omar Faruk. “People in these towns are therefore suffering a total blackout of independent news. In defiance of atrocities, Radio Shabelle continues to brave the deadly al-Shabaab and has moved to a new location to broadcast independently in the capital city”. With Islamists now in control of the majority of southern and central regions, including most of the capital, “the suffering of the media is unmistakable”. The Transitional Federal Government (TFG) has failed to safeguard human rights, including the right to free expression and freedom of the press, NUSOJ stated. “Young and unknown adults are increasingly appearing, claiming to be journalists but widely suspected to have another hidden and illicit agenda. This is another emerging threat to press freedom that reduces the space for professional and genuine journalists to operate”, said Omar Faruk Osman. The National Union of Somali Journalists notes that Puntland, a semi-autonomous state in the northeast, has been experiencing a worsening press freedom climate. “The Puntland administration has increased suppression and attacks against journalists and the independent media in the last six months,” said Burhan Ahmed, NUSOJ Puntland Coordinator. A special section was first time dedicated in the annual report for the situation in Puntland. The impunity with which journalists are attacked fuels further terrible crimes against journalists while in Puntland the judiciary has been hugely compromised, NUSOJ states. Lack of the rule of law in the southern regions continues to put the lives of journalists in danger. There are similar problems in Puntland where police and security agents operate at will with no respect for the work of journalists. NUSOJ's concern is that as the period of the transitional government ends in August 2011 without a viable political and security solution for the country, armed power struggles may increase and politicians as well as armed groups will turn their guns on journalists who refuse to be cowed by their intimidation and manipulation.
