since this has turned into tell&ask, let me go with the flow; tell; i onced got a ride from a man i saw couple of times around the area where he picked me up. i was not going any place far but he offered me a ride which i couldn't nay. i accepted the ride, and while on the rode, he asked me some questions. it is very weird how things coincide at times. he asked me if Hebel was my uncle, he apparently knew someone with a similar name. thinking it was my uncle, i answered in the affirmative. it was after he connected the lines, that he turned to me, looked me in the eye, and said 'you should learn very hard cuz reer Hebel will need you to....' and i said okay, not wanting to disappoint a man that has done me a favor. whenever I met the guy in the street, there is that touch of guilt on his face, sometimes trying to avoid me. that is why i walked up to him one time and said 'you did nothing wrong, you did the same thing my real uncle would have done'. ask; 1. Shiikh Nuur, do you live in N. America or Europe 2. why do you say eNur is a profit based than a non-profit one, just wondering even if you didn't meant it

To be fair to all the career-minded and business-based sisters out there, i thought i just throw this one in here as well, just another look at a feminist world; professional woman: 'what have you been doing' ordinary woman: 'i have three children that are little and lovely' professional: 'everyone can do that, i meant what did you really do'

sxb if qabiil is the only difference and is therefore relative/comparative to one another (here i am thinking of the laan-dheer vs. laan-la'aan dichotomy, which is even more different than laan-gaab), there really isn't a big problem. rivarlry between clans has never interfered with marriages, hasn't and shouldn't. so, wait for the parents, and it should all be good. btw, tell him if he doesn't want his-tory to repeat itself, he should let the world go around. warning; this is not fatwa

^Lol, SB are you by any chance a walking dictionary. Sheh, I am sorry to have dropped something and lefted it. here are some quick answers to your questions. The picture is not a real one, but a hand drawn one, pure lines, connections, and so on. Alot of time has not been put into its perfection, but i guess the emphasis was on the SPOT. the book does cover alot of areas besides FGM, but i think the new edition has put an effort to expand on that section by discussing it more and including this drawing on top of it. His name, no real reason and i said it, i was gonna name him when taunted. I didn't want the discussion to leak into the person than the ideas, or in this case, the picture. as for the suffering, i meant all the tragic episodes we have been through, but more importantly FGM; that i haven't experienced it or am victim of it doesn't mean i don't feel the pain felt by the million mothers, sisters, and aunts in and out of Somalia.

6. Car Sticker Most of the time funny things are weird stuff. This one i happen to find it in a car that was in front of me. This one might not be funny, but it just got me thinkin or maybe it was just a conclustion of life; God Gives and Forgives, Man Gets and Forgets

I believe so Jimcaale. i am surprised the sisters were not offended or outraged at the drawing by the author. I was bothered by this drawing because it seemed like it was not intended to show the severity of the problem or to stop its recurrency but to freely display, mostly in search of recognition, these pictures to people it does not concern. that is why i ask what good this pictures will do in American offices, schools, and work places except embarrass us and our sisters, like we haven't had enough or suffered even more. The only good this pictures could do is help hospitals that are dealing with patients who have the problem and are still living with it and God knows those people already heard and know enough. I think if the guy really meant it, he could have found 101 other ways to get it across (BBC being one). remember this is our problem, not Americas. and unsurprisingly it is a problem that will have more weight in Somalia than in the West.

"Beyond the Rainbows" is a great introductory book written by a well-known Somali author in Mindiyobooliis, his name shall be withheld for no apparent reason, about the Somalis in Minnesota. the book is for Americans who are interested in knowing more about the traditions, values, norms, customs, and history of the Somalis. the new edition of the book with its extended version has in it something that has bothered me. Somewhere along those pages, there is a hand drawn picture of a naked lady. the aim of the picture is to show the deformed private parts of the Somali women; the worrying part is was it not enough to have discussed the issue than to have drawn it out? i just can't imagine this picture being in Honeywell headquarters or in a temporary agency, some Americans saying that Xaliimo must really be like this and that. Do you think this guy did the right thing? haven't we suffered enough?

HA, i am not seeking any attention with the avatar. the picture to my knowledge was for the picking. as you know cyber world is not a reality show it is more like a movie, all the buildings and cars and people who are damaged, killed, and burned are nothing but mere indho-sarcaad. i think by picking on this avatar i have done more harm than benefit, cuz the picture of a broth who was a member sometime ago have taken the attention of many nomads. i am not here to be watched, i am here to participate. the vote was just to see what people thought, not a big deal. I am saddened that i have to put time into your question but you haven't voted in my poll, i guess that is how politicians are! -results will be announced two weeks from now, though the poll will stay open to a later date

let me take a middle course in this. sister, i think many times we forget how precious marriage are, both partners believe in the sacredness of marriage and therefore tend to preserve it. i especially think there is more care on the part of the Somali sista because as many of you know the patriarchal system we are accustomed to tends to favor men not just during marriage and in many situations but also after marriage; you know he gets a new wife, is blamed less for the break up, and what have you while the sister is ignored and rediculed. that is why i think no Xaliimo in her right mind would be the cause of a break, not to say it doesn't happen, but knowing the consequences, she rather not. No xaliimo would desire a life that is lonely, where she is both parents to her children, but sometimes shid pops in your face, and the best thing is just to whip it off, than to ask others to do it for you. If i see xaliimo leaving a relationship she must have HAD it, and she is at a point where she rather be lonely than be stuck with an abuser, user, or just plain hitter. i am speaking in general terms and am not familiar with this particular case.

^excuse me for my language, wallahi, I never take-it-up with the sistas, and everybody should know that. i got much respect for them. but member 968 compelled me for the first time to say something of the opposite. member 968, and i hope this doesn't get edited, amma call you the Anti-Islamic witch , cuz of your wicked comments about Islam, but if you had any mind of you own, it would have made your realize...amma just leave you alone, cuz addressing you is like knocking... that is why i say 'no comment' to your nonsense. tell it to the air and trust me you have more chance that way Mariam, a dream-breaker, please. i hope she hasn't lost hope in life. member 968, i am guessing you posted here cuz you are either bored or just couldn't find where to get your 600th shot. in both cases, congratulations

Thanks Pucca, huuno hey, where is everyone, war waa lagu kala cararay meesha. On a happier note, i watched the show this weekend, and it was off the shiizle fa shizzle. remember that scene where Charlie Murphy was rappin and rappin and rappin and it was very long but very nice, and he was stopped by Cat or Spanky, i don't even remember who, and they said to him 'Yo Y U rappin like U in 1987', that scene was so funny i laugh at it in my free time. two, this is from the white boy to Spanky "everybody knows you are Santa Clause, and Yo Momma is 'Ho', 'Ho', 'Ho'" any favorite Wildstyle lines.

^Bingo. MC Xamar, the only reason i am postin on this one for the first and last time is you forced me to cuz you exposed them h.a.t.e.r.s who couldn't even spell my name right. anywayz, on my name, you goin have to stay tune for that cuz i want my name to be defined by what i do and not what i say. i don't know how long that will take if you don't know where/how this thread started, it all went down HERE

Ok Kaf is back, quick replies to those who posted on the weekend. Codetalker, it is enought that 30% of those who voted thus far think you are a h.a.t.e.r, just don't tell me that you are included in that vote, dumbo. and how do you get posts, i never see you write? Bes, right on. you drop something to the net, it will be picked up Pucca, simple as that. thanks Allamagan, thanks. just tell him i said wazzup MC Xamar, i think the problem is not the picture itself, shid, i think i read somewhere that maybe it is not love that hurts, but the person we love. meaning the picture is bothering some people cuz they feel intimadated or what i call h.a.t.e.r.s(a symptom that Codetalker has and can't hide). The vote is splittin in Two. will see which side it tilts to.
-
^thanks Ibtisam. this does it for me, give me the weekend off, do some of my Xamaali homework and I shall be back the first day of the normal five. anywayz, much love for those who voted. keep on voting, commentin, and postin. I will address your concerns when i come back. until then "Peace,Love & Unity." (BOB)
