  1. I would suggest try doing internship or co-op with your field of study before you graduate note I said before you graduate because most of the time, the company you intern for will give you a position or as always you get connections. Do as much interning as possible. It sure is a good way to make your feet wet.

  3. One of my all time fav Books. Arthur Golden did a daring thing really. This book has been on the NYtimes bestseller since I can remember. When I first read this book in 1998. I personally love it. I haven't watched the movie yet but I have heard not so good reviews. As always though books are always greater than the movies with its vast details and imagery. Well alas will see it tonight inshallah.
  4. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Absolutely Stoic amin to all of that Happy Green I say. We need to understand as human being that physical actions alone can’t make a difference; we need to expand our ethical perspectives of the planet we live in. Great quote very true indeed. Like Gandhi said we have to be the change we seek. Thanks for the words of wisdom brother. 2005 alhamdulilah Didn't finish school like I hoped lakin inshallah soon. Had couple of family members die Allahu naxariso all who deceased amin. More nieces and nephews. Life at its best. Some die some are born. The most important thing though is I have my health and I am still standing. Highlight of the year was my east and midwest vacation. Overall Alhamdulilah

  6. Great thread Castro Just an FYi the med can be helpful but can also be addictive. Paxil, Wellbutrin are helping alot of people. Their is also prozac and zoloft although these meds have been decreasing on prescribtions doctors are giving to patients. I would recommend seeking therapy instead of the meds they do have side affects. Castro I would also like to add to the list Job burnout depression. Job burnout is not the same as depression. But the two are closely related. Job burnout is a condition that involves three clusters of symptoms: 1.emotional exhaustion 2.depersonalization 3.reduced personal accomplishment. Job burnout can be a viscous downward cycle. Emotional exhaustion is the experience of feeling drained of all energy or all used up. When people begin to experience emotional exhaustion they may try to reduce the emotional stress of working with other people by detaching from others. They commonly begin to maintain an emotional distance from others. This detachment can be expressed by an indifferent attitude toward others. People experiencing job burnout may have hostile, critical interactions with others. It is also common for a burned out person to view others as objects or numbers. Withdrawing from others is a frequently response. Another common response to job burnout is for the burned out person to try to reduce his or her workload. This may be done by avoiding work, absenteeism, doing the bare minimum when at work, not doing certain tasks that are experienced as more stressful and spending more time doing other tasks that are considered less stressful. 11. Debate usually brings about a change. Sometimes debate helps keep some things the same. Debate can be useful. Debate challenges our minds. Debate can blow our minds. Debate can waste our time. Debate is healthy. It may not make you wealthy. We can hate debate & love debate. Debating at the wrong time can get us into trouble. Debating can make us bubble. Where would we be w/o debate? It would be too late. Author Unknown For those wondering what is becoming of Threads take a look above. Think about it, isn't this the whole point aint it? J.B sorry for going off topic.
  12. What do you expect after all we have no government for the past 15 years. Am utterly disappointed on the whole situation of Somalia. I mean really if we had a government who provided coast guards would we really have pirate problems in 2005? When will enough be enough and live peacefully amongst us? As always am wasting my breath its all going to a deaf ears any ways am going to bed

(PLEASE NOTE THE WORD POSSIBLE) I agree with many gentlemen's remarks' being Pro-Guditaan, and I agree with them because of the way of life in Today's missguided massess. Let's bring back the practices of our forefathers, we have under estimated their wisdom.    What is the world coming to bismilahi Rahmani Rahim. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about. To simple muslim wished you could have said Lat., Non me pudet fateri nescire quod nesciam. Meaning I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know. Simply then that could have helped us a lot.
  17. I will not say it because all my other sisters above have already said it . Brother Nur I just wish some how some way you could just for once experience being a woman and then you would know but ofcouse its only a wish. Like my sister Sher already said we are not in Jahiliyah period when they used practice castration. Ofcourse there is a reason they called it Jahiliyah. For all the people who are saying that when one goes bad they should send her back to Kuntunwareey. I suppose they will have a guard guarding them all day or just locking them up? Look here no matter what you can not change someone until they change for their selves. You can not guard a girl. And the girl is not the only one who got pregnant by herself. You may not but I sure as heck can. I can feel my suxur up in my throat. La illaha illalah. With that kind of nonchalent attitude towards something as horrific and disgusting as Gudniin, I will pray extra hard that people with that kind of mentality will never be in a position to decide a woman's fate or have any sort of control over her. Ya Allah. I shudder to think how many people have those kind of xaasidnimo backward thinking. I agree 1000%

  21. Seattle is beautiful. I think it has a lot to do with who and where they take you out in Seattle. You see if you have been to the surroundings of tukwila, Ranier and seatac, then you will hate it. Seriously there is more to see Fremont Issaquah Bellevue Mercer Island Ballard University district Friday Harbour San Juan Island which are Friday Harbour,Lopez Island, Orcas Island and Shaw Island. Oh Forgot Snoqualmie falls and the Skying resorts. Mount Ranier Etc I am tight on the time at the moment but for those who would like to explore and see the beauty of Seattle and the hidden treasures. Truth be told Vancouver is beautiful than Seattle. Ofcourse their car plates already say so Beautiful British Columbia. Inshallah will be back to comment later.
  22. Originally posted by Warrior of Light: Sheh, I salute you. Ive still havent got the courage to eat Doriani , its a delicacy in Zanzibar too. I just let my mum enjoy it. The smell Hehe, seems Sambusas are the number Uno delicacy in Ramadhan. The sijui way of Ramadhaan .. I would prefer the other meat apertives , meat patties (sambusas are also widely consumed) the sijuis know the mkate wa nyama, or the ovened mincemeat bread (some call it meat loaf but it not like the english one As it doesnt have pastry instead the base is made of mash potatoes and you have mincemeat, grated carrot, green pepper and spices mixed with the yoke of egg then baked. You later serve by cutting it into cubes. So it isnt like a shephards pie either.) Other must's are the 'kaymati', bajias, fish cakes (patties), kashories, plastiki (sliced potatoes in the middle a thin layer of chilly sauce covered in gram flour then fried) meat chop, egg chop. Light on the stomach and you can join tarawiih easily. For main course, you can have maraq, rice, basto, potatoes or bananas cooked in coconut milk(sometimes mixed with meat), sweet potatoes, Alot of bread types , chapatis, mkate wa Ufuta(sesame bread, coconut milk is added), mandazi is consumed in Ramadhaan. If your from the coastal towns you have a fish feast, samaki wa kupaka (grilled fish then sauce is spread on top and let to dry), fried fish, octopus isnt consumed in ramadhaan as far as I remember but squid is, fried squid or ringlets tasty. As for desert, ramadhaan Musts were fruit salads, Faluda, custard, homemade caramel pudding, pumpkin/ sweet potatoes or mumunya(dont know its english name looks like courgette)in coconut milk seasoned with cardamom (hiliki). Mkate wa kumimina, chila/vibibi, vilosa(All of them made from grounded rice and coconut milk the cooking style differs). The list never ends. Man, I feel hungry already. And alot of fresh juices are consumed. The native Swahilis love opening fast with Ujii (porridge) spicy and yummy and soft on the stomach. And there are different types. I only cook (properly) in Ramadhaan when I have freinds over. As for myself I like having a light iftaar something like a breakfast snack , dates, fruits, water a sandwich. Around 10 ish, I can decide to eat something else and it aint special. While on duty or invited over at peoples place we have the full course meal. Turks cant go without soup(my favorite lentil soup), then main course and desert. And they are very hospitable, youve got to be careful you can end up overfeed. And in Ramadhaan they have this special bread >Ramadhaan pidesi reminds me of the Mkate of Ufuta (Sesame bread common in East Africa or the Mkate wa Mofa). Guess thats enough, for today. Wol dada Khatara kabisa nothing bits samaki freshly made from bongoland and the Pilau. Sis haven't heard the term ujii for the longest time Mkate Nyama isn't that Mkate mayaya?
  23. Thanks sis love this thread great reminder. My neighbours are rude and inconsiderate. I am the one who always wants to report them to the office and mashallah my habaryar say no leave the neighbours alone let them do what ever. That just drives me crazy especially after they play music so loud at all hours of the night. Patience Patience is what I need when it comes to my neighbours. Thanks for the reminder sis jazakallah. May Allah except our fasting. Amin
