Back to that question I would love to take my mother and habaryaryall to the Hajj. May ALLAH TO INCREASE MY KNOWLEDGE OF THE DEEN AND TO LIVE LIKE I WOULD DIE TOMORROW. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF SOMALIA TO LIVE IN PEACE AND PROPERITY WITHOUT QABYALAD AND TO LOVE EACH OTHER AS IF WE WERE TRULLY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF ISLAM. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE DAY THAT AFRICA MY MOTHER CONTINENT RAISES HIGH AND MIGHTY. AND NOT BE CALLED THE DARK CONTINENT. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE WORLD WHERE NO MUSLIMS LIVE IN SUFFER. May Allah help me succeed in my passion to get all my dreams. May Allah bless me with a good man with his deen and ciyaal khayr badaan. AMIN AMIN AMIN

Parents should put a very high initiative for the children to speak somali. They should talk to them in somali and tell them when they are home only somali no ingris. That is what my parents did... Anybody who did different well we had a good shamboki(wimping)in their behind. For those who want to learn how to read and write well all i got to say is practice make perfect but you gotta try first. For some of us we might be shy to do that but the shell must break before the bird can fly.

Welcome to Sol hope your visit here is pleasant. I also live in the northwest specifically Pacific Northwest. I feel you walahi...One of the organization i worked for one time asked me if i could be of help to the new somali bantus that have arrived fresh from africa. We as a somali community have failed them. Specifically in the area i live in because the somali community didn't even try to help them. They were having problems from language barrier, basic life here in the US. It seemed that the refugee org that brought them here just dumped them and told them hey it's you against Basic US leaving. Mashallah though they are very strong. The kids have the biggest disadvantage though, because they have never been to school before and teachers are having problems finding translators who speak they same language as them. I think most of them speak Rahanwayne i think that how it is spelled. Me and couple of friends of mine actually raided a town meeting by Congressman Adam Smith and we told him the problems our fellow somalis are facing. First thing he asked us was hmmm is there no somali community organization in our district? which by the way has 18 different ones!!!! No body wants to listen to somalis problems in our state because countless time different somali communities have misused the funds they were given and the state is just tired of that. At the moment they suggested that we as Somalis should form one community until further notice well not much will be done>>>>>>>> Inshallah May Allah Ease the pains for all of those suffering amin.

Salam Moving along the thread : I have read the alchemist only on this list . Review of the Alchemist Dreams, symbols, signs, and adventure follow the reader like echoes of ancient wise voices in the novel. A novel that combines an atmosphere of Medieval mysticism with the song of the desert. With this symbolic masterpiece Coelho states that we should not avoid our destinies, and urges people to follow their dreams, because to find our "Personal Myth" and our mission on Earth is the way to find "God", meaning happiness, fulfillment, and the ultimate purpose of creation. The novel tells the tale of Santiago, a boy who has a dream and the courage to follow it. After listening to "the signs" the boy ventures in his personal, Ulysses-like journey of exploration and self-discovery, symbolically searching for a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt. When he decides to go, his father's only advice is "Travel the world until you see that our castle is the greatest, and our women the most beautiful". In his journey, Santiago sees the greatness of the world, and meets all kinds of exciting people like kings and alchemists. However, by the end of the novel, he discovers that "treasure lies where your heart belongs", and that the treasure was the journey itself, the discoveries he made, and the wisdom he acquired. The Alchemist", is an exciting novel that bursts with optimism; it is the kind of novel that tells you that everything is possible as long as you really want it to happen. That may sound like an oversimplified version of new-age philosophy and mysticism, but as Coelho states "simple things are the most valuable and only wise people appreciate them". I would definately recommend it. My vote goes to Isabel Allende House of Spirits P.S Please brothers and Sisters please vote on a book and lets move along.

  Hibo sis keep your head and where ever you go even in Northpole people will talk. They will Talk so ignore them and keep going. Walahi when i was reading your story i had flash back to when i started college and they were kazilion of somalis. They didn't even say hi to each other. So i graduated out of highschool and i lived like 45 minutes from the city and i was the only black girl in my entire school. So am so happy to see anybody whose black when i started college but even better somalis (MY PEOPLES) that is what i called them. I started aproaching the girls first and saying sisters what is this we are somalis we should come to together and help each other. LEts form a prayer room so we can pray at. I even started a somali Students association. I had aproached the brothers i swear they were even better than the girls they were so helpful but then its started. The crazy sijui girl, ohh even better they hear that am sijui so .... they assume i don't speak somali..they speak to me like am a kid learning somali and then when they heard my somali they were surprised. They said everything and anything in they book that is insulting. Until it got to the point that i run when i saw anybody who was somali. So i got over that and i learned how to deal with my peoples. I used to cry and say i just want to help them why are they saying these stuff about me. I was always the tomb boy i started to deal them in my own manner. Ignore them and when they say shit about you look them in the eye tell them to there face. If your a real man come say it to my face and stop talking like a cat(P&*(%). I swear today when the see me the got mad respect. Keep doing what you do. Sorry just when on and on but couldn't help it. Ignore them What doesn't kill you doesn't hurt you remember that HIbo
