  1. Interesting!

Have you guys seen this white women who also speaks somali, I saw her few weeks ago on SomTV, I think her name was Ladan, I'm not sure!

She was talking about the conflict in the Somali Poetry about Women, I think she wrote a book about it! I also think she said She came from canada!

  2. lool funny topic

Truthfully speaking if you girls really want to know the answer then listen(or read).

First of All I have a bad news for you girls, It is not All about you! In order to understand why The Somali men act the way they do, you have to go and do some research in a Tuulo 'vilage' somewhere in somalia.

Somehow in our culture, the somalis believe men staying at home is a disorder, If they see a somali man always at home, they think there is something wrong with him. And also the opposite is true for women, if they see a women always walking around the city, and not at home, she is a 'wareegto' or wanderer.

    Afternoons: Time for Parte

To the Somali men, the afternoon is a very special time. At noon, after lunch it is very hot in somalia, and you can call us lazy, but like lions the somali men always take a nap after lunch and wake up at afternoon. That is when they take shower, dress up, and go into the city.

They usually go and meet their buddies at the Suuq 'bazaar', have a tea and wait for the BBC.

The Somali nomads, don't have chairs, so they usually greet each other while standing, using their Budh 'cane'for support. This is the usual stance for greeting, and unless their is a important meeting which requires sitting, that is how they socialize. This has become a custom and even in the Somali cities and towns, you will find men standing in the streets talking, you will rerely see some sitting, and most of those sitting are either drinking or eating.

Now that I have explained 'why' we stand infront of malls and other gathering places, I'll address 'why' we stare.

It is very simple: CausalityThe principle of or relationship between cause and effect. Action - Reaction, Cause - Effect.

If you are pretty - you will be stared at, specially if you wear clothes that most of the somali girls wear these days, teasing you to death. Like some of the brothers said, men have sharp eyes towards women, it is natural cause. If a fat sheep passes by the cave of the hyena, he can't stop but crave for it.

What can you, girls, do to escape from these Hungry Hyenas?

    1. The Hyenas usually come out at the Afternoon.

    2. Disguise yourself with the Hijab, They're blinded by it.

    3. Come with one of your own Hyenas, ur husband, bro, cousin etc. There is a very old treaty between them to respect each other's borders!

    Peace! Respect! Love!

  3. I heard this while listening to the BBC few nights ago. I couldn't stop laughing. I don't meen in disrespect to my Somalian Sisters, It is when I heard that she came from The United Kingdom, that I started laughing.

If this sister was borned, lived, and grew up in somalia and in her land, and she wanted to become a Sultaniyah for her people, I would consider listening to her idias and her vision.

But this girl just wants to imitate The Kufr system of UK, I bet she is a big Elizabeth fan.

The Somalis don't have Kingship system, they have Sultanates, and as far as I know, the title Sultan is only given to men, not just in Somalia but in other parts of the Islamic World.

In the Somali Sultanate system, I think the son of the father is heir to the throne, if the Sultan doesn't have any sons, it is usually the Sons of the Sultan's brother who gets the throne.

  4. African, sis

I wouldn't be suprised, All major diseases are usually caused by actions condemned by Allah and our religion, Islam. It is form of punishment, for example if you look at Aids and the people who usually have it, they either do sinful things or are from societies where such actions are normal. Look at Africa for example, There are Muslims and Non-Muslims in this continent, when you look at who have Aids, you will see Many of the Countries where Muslims are living their lives according to Islam,(no prostitutes, adultry, homosexuality, etc..) Aids is very rare.

But when you look at other non-Muslim countries who either adopted christianity and western customs, or practice traditional african customs, that is where Aids is very wide spread.

  5. » Asalamu Alaykum,

    Akhi Nur,

I do understand your reason for dis-liking popularity and fame, in these times we live in. it's usually very difficult to see the intent of many people, wheather they do things just to be populare, or for a purpose far greater than fame alone.

Akhi, I don't think that you should limit yourself and your potential, by being afraid of loosing your Ikhlaas, I think that in it's own way is a type of selfishness, and Shaytan may try to limit you by puting fear and doubt in your heart. I don't in any way meen you shouldn't be concerned about your motives and protecting your Ikhlaas. I know that you very well know, what is our purpose in this world, It is to worship Allah(swt), and to 'enjoing what is good and forbid what is wrong and to belief in Allah(swt)'.

Allah(swt) said: "You (Muslim) are the best Ummah ever raised up for mankind;(why and how did we become the best?) you enjoin Al-Ma'roof and forbid Al-Munkar and you believe in Allah…"

Akhi, I don't want to lecture you, but I just want to give you advice and say consider what I've said, and do what ever is in your potential

to help your people. There are many people who do not have access to the Internet, you have a duty to teach them and reach them thru any available avenue, books are very important sources for knowledge and I'm quite sure that is where you get most of your knowledge, so it is a duty upon you to give back to the ummah.

Remember the Ink of the Scholar is very Powerfull!! & Also Remember how much Satan hates The Ink of the Scholars!! They are source of Guidance for Generations!!

    dear akhi Nur, Jazakallahu Khayr!

  8. Asalaamu Alaykum

    Interesting topic,

I have heard of the argument that Alexander the Great was infact Zul-Qarnayn, but almost all Scholars don't agree. It is known that Alexander was a pagan. It is said that Alexander, did build a gate in central asia to keep the mongols away, thus some argue that is the same gate mentioned in the Qur'an. This leads to the believe then that The Mongols or the Chinese, people of the far east, are infact Ya'Juuj Wa Ma'Juuj.

This is where this argument falls apart, because we know that the Ya'Juuj Wa Ma'Juuj, are not the people on the surface of the planet today, because we know they are digging inorder to come on the surface, i.e. where we are, and we can't see them.

    Allah(swt) Knows Best!

  9. » Asalamu Alaykum

Indeed Allah(swt) has blessed you with wisdom and knowledge, and my He(swt) increase both your knowledge and wisdom for you. Aamiin.

It is really a miracle and I'm amazed everytime I read your posts, your style of writing and explaining things with simplicity is Wollahi, very inspiring and amazing! Jazakallahu Khayr

  10. Thanks for the reply guys!! hope you are all in good health and iman.

here is what I found most interesting:

    "

So universally recognized was pa chi as one of the most no-nonsense styles that even in our present era it was considered without equal. Witness the fact that a famous pa chi teacher was the instructor of Chiang Kai Shek’s, Mao Tse Tung’s and Sun Yet Sen’s bodyguards. That’s right the men who protected these three sworn enemies were all kung-fu brothers.

As the Chien Lung emperor stated in the 19th century, “For health we have tai chi, for protection pa chi.” :D "

  11. The Value of Time in Islam

    Question:

Dear Sheikh! As we notice now that part of the problems facing Muslims nowadays is time wasting. Most of our youth do not respect time; it has no value to them. We are now in summer now and you will see how people squander time for nothing. Please kindly enlighten us on the importance and the value of time in Islam. Jazakum Allah Khairan!

    Mufti Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi

    Answer:

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All thanks and praise are due to Allah and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Dear questioner, we are really happy to have your question and we hope that our humble efforts meet your expectations. We also appreciate your great concern for the welfare of Muslim Ummah.

Yes, you are right, time wasting is one of the problems we need to address. It’s important for a Muslim to know the value of his time, for time is life. A Muslim should not waste his time in things that do not bring him closer to Allah, in things that will not serve as a contribution for the betterment of his people, his society and mankind in general.

In Islam things should be categorized according to their level of importance. Early Muslims used to capture every moment of their time. Thabit Al-Bunany said: “When my father was on his deathbed, I went to assist him in pronouncing the Shahaadah (Testification of Faith). He said: ‘Son! Leave me alone, for I have recited all my supplications five times and I’m on my sixth cycle now.’”

Delving into the issue of the value of time in Islam, we would like to cite for you the following from “Time in The Life of The Muslim” by the prominent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi:

“The Qur’an and the Sunnah make it clear that time is very valuable. Almighty Allah says: “By the time! Verily man is in loss.” (Al-`Asr:1-2) The Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is also a rich record of many Hadiths that acknowledge the value of time and confirm the responsibility of man on how he maintains it; he will be brought to account by Allah on the Day of Judgment. Mu`adh ibn Jabal quotes the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as saying: “A servant of Allah will remain standing on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about four things: his life and how he spent it, his youth and how he used it up, his property and how he acquired and managed it and his knowledge and how he utilized it.”

    The Characteristics of Time

We are to bear in mind that time has certain characteristics, among of which are the following:

    1-Time passes quickly.

2-Time that passes can never return, nor can it be compensated for, for time is irretrievable.

3-Time is the most precious thing that man possesses.

    Muslim’s Duty Towards Time:

Having all this great value and importance, time is to be duly appreciated and managed. Imam Al-Hasan Al-Basri says: “At the beginning of every day a herald calls: ‘O son of Adam! I am a new creation and a witness of your deeds. So take a provision from me because when I pass, for I never come beck till the Day of Resurrection.’”

In Islam there is no room for slogans like the so-called "killing time", for in Islam time is really valuable. In fact, wasting time is much more dangerous than squandering property, because unlike property, time cannot be compensated. Free time is a blessing that is overlooked, and not wholly appreciated by many people. In the Hadith, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There are two of Allah’s favors that are forgotten by many people: health and free time.”

This indicates that it's very important for a Muslim to try his utmost to husband his time and make the best use of it in beneficial things. A Muslim may use portion of his time in making invocations and supplications, celebrating the praises of Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to supplicate: “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from sorrow and distress, and I seek refuge in You from disability and laziness.”

A Muslim should learn how to organize his time, and make a realistic plan for his worldly and religious duties, without any of them overlapping the other. That is to say that one should know how to arrange his priorities: the most important and the most urgent comes first, and carried out according to schedule. Organizing time also includes leaving a place for relaxation and entertainment, for ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.’

One of the methods of managing his time properly is for a Muslim to get up early and sleep early, for early hours always yield great blessings. Starting his day with prayer and the supplication of the morning brings the Muslim Allah’s grace. A Muslim should always bear in mind that every time has its own task that suits it. Doing tasks in their due times brings about peace of mind and comfort.

Finally, we would like to cite the following Hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, quoting from the Book of Ibrahim, peace be upon him: “A sane person, unless he is mindless, should have four hours: an hour to invoke to his Lord, an hour to count his own deeds, an hour to contemplate about the creation of Allah and an hour to satisfy his worldly needs.”

    Almighty Allah knows best.

  12. Asalamu Alaykum sis, I'm sorry to hear that!

I agree that we Muslims all need to have basic self-defence training and be able protect both ourselfs and our loved ones!

I was thinking of starting a Martial Arts awareness program in the Muslim World! Insha'Allah I hope to start something usefull to my fellow brothern!

  13. Bro Jidaawy couldn't agree with you more!

    Xaliimo 7:

It is amazing how you claim to have donated to the mosque, but allow such words to come out of your mouth. Subhanallah! If it wasn't for you name, I wouldn't have believed you were a Somali!

Xaliimo7 said: "I know not who god is, man or woman?"

This shows me your lack of inteligence in this subject. For if you have read Surah AL-IKHLAS (SINCERITY) you would have known that:

    He is Allah, the One and Only;

    Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

    He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

And there is none like unto Him.

There is no need to ask whether Allah is a Man or a Women, for none is like Him!

You then wrote: "here i am

working my buts off to make ends meet, and some sheikh in some musjid is living off the donations of the very people, like me, who donated to the mosque"

May I ask why you donate to the Mosque? I don't Understand why you would do that if it seems you don't even believe in Allah!

You then said: "If the faith of the muslim God or for that matter God of all is so strong, why did God allow Wars to happen?"

Subhanallah have you no knowledge or logic? This is a question that even yound Muslims know the answer to! Haven't you heard of Free Will or Qadar?

Allah(swt) has given the son of Adam (mankind) Free Will(Choice) to choose his path. He is Able to Kill and Punish all Zalimun (wrongdoers and the unjust) but every thing has a law and perfect order. This world(life) is but a test, the true, real world is in the hear-after! When the Unjust will be Punished and The Just will be rewarded! And everyone will have no one to blame but himself!

I advice you to seek knowledge, to Iqra(read) before you Allow Your Ignorence to escape your lips!

May Allah(swt) forgive your ignorence! Aamiin!
