  1. when you die, your book is not always closed.

we know that there are three ways in which you can achieve good deeds after you have died. from this we can also understand that their are ways in which your bad deeds can continue after you have died.

for example, as brother Nur said, The first person to kill was Qaabiil ( Cain), and since the sons of Adam learned this act from him, when ever someone commits a murder, Qaabiil gets some of the credit and even though he died thousands of years ago, it is still written in his book.

so if you give your organ to a Kafir and he or she commits a crime, such as shirk, then it is very clear that you contributed to his act(shirk).

I also hold the view that it is only allowed when you know 100% that the recipient is a Muslim and that he or she would worship Allah and stay away from bad deeds. You can do this by getting a signed agreement from the Muslim recipient, or the collection agencies if you die that the recipient testifies to your demands before he gets your organs.

Actucally the word africa, is thought too have came from a Roman General who his last name was Afrikanus, well thats what i heard.
I have heard some say "Africa is believed to have originated from either the Latin word aprica ("Sunny") or greek aphrike ("without cold") and originally applied to North Africa.

The claim that Africa was named after the Roman General Scipio Africanus has been proven to be not acurate for many reasons, mainly that this word has been used long before him. It is said that his name actually means, Scipio of Africa.

The Arabs have used this name, Ifriqiya long before the Roman Empire. "The famous Muslim historian Ibn Khaldun says that the name Ifriqiya was given after Ifriqos, and to Al-Bakri, the boundries of Ifriqiya were Barga on the East and Tangier on the West, which means that in addition to the Africa proper of the Romans, it included Tripolitania, Numidia and Mauritania."

I have also heard that it origins from the Egyptian Word "Afru-ika" or 'Motherland."

  3. very interesting debate. too bad I came late, some of you might have given a similar answer to what I'm going to say, so I opologise.

Are we Somalis: Africans or Arabs?

First before ask this question you should ask:

what does it mean to Somali?

what does it mean to be African?

what does it mean to be Arab?

we know that not all Somalis share the same anscester. so this question can not possibly have one answer, i.e. African or Arab.

you can't deny the fact that some Somalis are desendents of Africans, Arabs, Persians, and even Indians.

another question is Are you who your father was or who your mother was, or the color you have?

There are some whose their mother was an African but their father was not, who have a dark skin, are they Arab or African?. There are others who have a black father, who married the daughter of a Arab man, and they have a light skin, are they Arab or African?

If you also say that we are from Africa because our country is in Africa. Do you know that the word Africa(n) comes from Ifriqos bin Qais bin Saifi, one of the Kings of Yemen.

now if we agree to this, then the answer to your question can be: one Somali can be African, Another can be Arab, and Another Somali can be Neither. Now everyone can choose who he is. If someone claims to be Arab, why should you care? but if he tells you that you are Arab and you believe otherwise, then you can argue with him and prove your case, that you are not Arab. You don't need to prove that he is not Arab.

what is important is that We have a great culture, history, and due to our location in the world (center of the world) we have very rich and diverse culture and ancestors.

Humans evolved in our area of the world, this also means that when people began to spread around, many of them passed through East Africa, for example the Berbers of North Africa is said to have came from Somalia, the Tuaregs of Mali also came from africa, And Many others.

What is important is that we are all the children of Adam and we can all agree on that. At least I hope so, there are some who claim to be from monkeys, I hope their aren't any Somalis who believe we are the children of a Daaxuur.

  5. very interesting scenario. I would agree with you that east asia may Insha'Allah accept Islam in the near future, especially Japan and China. But will take a lot of work and effort to bring in the message of Islam into their living rooms. I would suggest, first there needs to be a pure Islamic model State in this world, before we expect to see people entering Islam in large numbers.

where can we find such a model?

I think it depends on who has the Iman to adopt such feared model. The only country that has a good chance of succeeding in this, I would say is Pakistan. The only reason I say this is because it is the only Muslim country who has the man power and faith power to become a good model. It is true it has long way to go, but the Pakistanis are masha'Allah very hard working people.

The other States who I think might have chance is althought it may suprise you, The Central Asian states, especialy Uzbekistan. Alhamdulilah with the fall of the Soviets, these great worriers are once again starting to build their faith and come back to their roots. It is true they also have some tough obsticals to face, but Insha'Allah they will over come them. The glorious cities of Islam, Bukhara and Samarkan will Insha'Allah once again shine their light upon the world.

    brother Nur

do you ever have the feeling that this life is like a short sleep. when you fall sleep and then wake up after 9 hours its seems like you have only been sleeping no longer than few minutes.

sometimes when you imagine the hearafter and the last day, It suddently comes to your conscience that 'IT WILL' come and 'YOU WILL' be there.

now this is a lot different because you already know it will come, but if you become conscience for a second, stop thinking - free your mind, and say to yourself it will happen, and I'll be there, you will start to shake.

the scariest thing is that it may seem far away from today, but in that day it will seem like you just woke up from sleep and it wasn't that long. It is like when your teacher tells you that you have a test three weeks from today. That day it might not concern you because you think you have long time, but when the day cames, you can't believe three weeks have gone by.

A Wiseman once said, “Strange is he who has the material world walking away from him and the hereafter walking towards him. How could he busy himself with what is leaving him and turn his back to that which is coming towards him.”

  7. Ethiopia accuses Eritrea of aiding terrorists

    October 11 2003 at 04:21PM

Addis Ababa - Ethiopia has accused neighbouring Eritrea of sponsoring extremist groups currently fighting the Addis Ababa regime and called on the public to be vigilant against terror activities.

"The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), al-Itihad al-Islami and other terror groups are sponsored by the Eritrean government," an Ethiopian information ministry statement released here on Friday night claimed.

Eritrean authorities were not available to comment on the statement.

The OLF represents Ethiopia's largest ethnic group, the Oromos, who have been fighting for more than a decade for an independent homeland, while al-Itihad is an armed Islamic group based in neighbouring Somalia that wants independence for the predominantly Somali-populated Ogaden region of southeast Ethiopia.

The statement also accused the OLF of trying, in complicity with other similar groups, to smuggle weapons into Ethiopia's hinterland.

Last month, the Ethiopian government blamed the OLF for a bomb blast that killed two train passengers in the northeast of the country.

But an OLF spokesperson, based in London, denied last week responsibility for the attack and instead accused the government of trying "to use the OLF as a scapegoat for its failures politically and economically."

The spokesperson also denied having any connections with the Eritrean government.

Ethiopia and its northern neighbour, Eritrea, fought a two-year border war from 1998 to 2000 and have since continued a war of words over the demarcation of their common border, the main cause of the bloody conflict. - Sapa-AFP

    oic.gif

as most of you are aware of The 10th session of the Islamic Summit Conference will be held in Putrajaya, Malaysia on 16-18 October 2003.

since the OIC was first established in Sept 25, 1969, it has realy done nothing to be inspired of. It has not created a commonwealth between its member states, it has not established any large economic cooperation, nor did it develope a modern defence for the security of its people. They have watched more than 4 of its members attacked. They have even watched genocides without any real efforts to help the innocent.

They have watched as Islamic States fall behind the rest of the world in education, economy, military, sciences ect..

now my question to you is what porpuse does this Organisation realy have? Is it simply a tool for teh dictators to fool their people or a one that can be cultivated and serve as a tool for unity in the long run?

is it time they decide and create a economical, political and Defence commonwealth between these 50 some states that control more than 70 percent of the worlds energy resources that turn on the world every day and can easily shut it down?

    what do you think?

will Malaysia be a better host, with their experience and commitment can they realy give this Organisation something to be proud of, even if it is only in the economical front?

    thank you, salaams!

have we came to the age when we seek honour from the kufar?

Allah(swt) speaks the Truth, and Allah(swt) Says:

    137. Verily, those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe (again), and (again) disbelieve, and go on increasing in disbelief; Allâh will not forgive them, nor guide them on the (Right) Way.

    138. Give to the hypocrites[] the tidings that there is for them a painful torment.

    139. Those who take disbelievers for Auliyâ' (protectors or helpers or friends) instead of believers, do they seek honour, power and glory with them? Verily, then to Allâh belongs all honour, power and glory.

    140. And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur'ân) that when you hear the Verses of Allâh being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allâh will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell,

    141. Those (hyprocrites) who wait and watch about you; if you gain a victory from Allâh, they say: "Were we not with you," but if the disbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain mastery over you and did we not protect you from the believers?" Allâh will judge between you (all) on the Day of Resurrection. And never will Allâh grant to the disbelievers a way (to triumph) over the believers.

    142. Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allâh, but it is He Who deceives them.[] And when they stand up for As-Salât (the prayer), they stand with laziness and to be seen of men, and they do not remember Allâh but little.

    143. (They are) swaying between this and that, belonging neither to these nor to those, and he whom Allâh sends astray, you will not find for him a way (to the truth - Islâm).

    144. O you who believe! Take not for Auliyâ' (protectors or helpers or friends) disbelievers instead of believers. Do you wish to offer Allâh a manifest proof against yourselves?

    145. Verily, the hyprocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them.[]

    146. Except those who repent (from hypocrisy), do righteous good deeds, hold fast to Allâh, and purify their religion for Allâh (by worshipping none but Allâh, and do good for Allâh's sake only, not to show-off), then they will be with the believers. And Allâh will grant to the believers a great reward.

    147. Why should Allâh punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allâh is Ever AllAppreciative (of good), AllKnowing.

Conquest you do realize that the founding sheikh of the "clan" you refer to is buried in Sanaag right? and its unfortunate if you didn't realize that was over 30 yrs, matter of fact it could be calculating on a scale of centuries rather than decades.
    Dear Lander,

where someone is buried doesn't determine where he is from. I am aware of where this sheikh, may Allah rest his soul, is buried. I'm only refering to those who in persute of dominance and injustice who claim that which isn't rightfully theirs. there is no need to run in a circle of lies and baseless arguments, we are all aware of who lives and has lived in SS&H, we all know who is the majority, what they want and what they stand for.

lets be clear and focus on the truth and the truth is SS&H belongs to Somalia and the Somali People! If you believe otherwise, verily you are mistaken!

    RIGHT STUFF

China has kept a veil of secrecy on details of the launch, with scant details leaking in a few state newspapers and in Hong Kong.

State media have said that up to three "taikonauts" could be aboard the craft, although the Shanghai-based Liberation Daily said on Thursday a single astronaut would be chosen from 14 experienced fighter pilots.

An army song and dance troupe was filming a music video to celebrate the launch called "Flying," the Communist Party newspaper People's Daily said.

It is very difficult to seperate space programes and the military these days. actually space programes serve as the largets military cover-up projects in the developed countries, i.e. u.s., russia, china, india...

NASA is the largest agency that contributed to the strength and development of the U.S. Military. fighters, satellites, spy-ware, bombs, missiles, ect.. are all done under the cover of space research programs.

  12. In a sense the conference was preaching to the converted. All the more curious that the Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should close the event with a bellicose call to arms.

For Dr Mahathir Muslims should master science so the world of Islam can stand up to the West.

"We need modern weapons. We need tanks, battleships, fighter planes, knowledge of rockets," he told the delegates. "These are the weapons that can strike fear into the hearts of our enemies and defend us."

So is Somalia really the land the ancient egyptians called 'the land of god'? I doing some research on this and I think it is Somalia.

what do you think? are any of you archaeologists or planing to become one?

or a lighter note, what do you think about reason why the queen look obese, they said it could be due to tree things:

    1. she was sick

    2. she was very rude, and the egypians didn't like her.

    3. the puntites(somalis) like large women.

I was reading a piece once and it argued that Somalis have always liked large sizes and still doe. one of the things it pointed out was that somali parents like children who are fat and it is a sign of good health. :D

most of the archaeologists also support this that the Puntites valued + size, because the daughter of the King, the princess also showed that she was fat.

  15. greetings fellow brothers and sisters

one of the main reasons why our ummah has fallen into such predicamante is our lack of great leaders. Dr Mahathir is not a perfect Muslim nor is he a perfect leader, but the reason I have posted this article was due to one reason: the retirement of Dr Mahathir from power. this is what I ment - a bright example.

It is also good that we not only look at the foults of the man but his good deeds. there is no doubt that he has achieved pretty amazing things since he was in power, mainly developing Malaysia's economy into modern one.

there is not one leader in the Muslim world I think is close to matching Dr Mahathir, he might not be Perfect, but atleast he is far ahead of his fellow 'muslim' head of states.

  16. Whats the craziest thing you did when you were a kid?

    hmmm... let me think.

fight a band of angry( )monkeys over a 'gob' tree!

I'll give you one advice. never flee to the mountains area! go for the clear space, that way you have a chance they may get tired.

if you go for the mountains, waxay kugu sabaaxadaynayaan in 2 seconds.

  17. I think I have said this before in some other place, Reason is like a vehicle, once you get to your destination, sooner or later you will have to leave it behind and go with Faith!

you don't enter Jannah with Reason, you enter it with Faith. I'm very suprised to see people trying to prove Islam or the quran with science and modern concepts. these are people who have very weak faith and want proves for themselves.

Islam allows you to use logic and reason to an extent, but don't believe because of reason, belief must come from inside, you need faith to believe. we must know that our knowledge is limited. there are many things that we do not understand in this world and that of knowledge we have be given little.

  18. do we Somalis have a culture?

culture is the norms, believes and values that one group shares. this means that all human groups who live in the same are and share the same characteristics has a culture.

so what is our culture? when studing culture of a particular society, it is good idea to start with the nomadic people. there are many reasons why - they are the roots and seeds of the society, they have not been influenced by foriegns as much as those in urban areas have been.

so if we want to understand our culture we should look at our nomads, especially those who herd camals, goats and sheeps. If you observe carefully you will see what the norms, believes and values of these people are thus see their culture.

there are also some very important things you must study, such as their poetry, songs, folktales, stories, proverbs, food, housings iwm. studing this will teach you every aspect of these people's culture, and history.

In some societies, culture and religion are integrated and it is very hard to distinquish one from the other, this is true in all Islamic societies, because Islam is more than a religion it is a way of life.
