  1. Dear Xanthus, we fighting ideas with ideas and the internet gives us all a platform to share ideas, to discuss matters of great importance for our nation, with people all around the world and at the end of the day the public will decide which idea is better. As you have noticed the secessionist ideas that your supporting are weak and thats why you end up on the loosing side of every argument. I am not a good 'debater'. I just happen to be support a noble ideal. And ideal of peacefull coexistance of all Somalis within one state. An ideal that says that a poet is just a poet and not this or that clan. An ideal that says we share our culture and that culture is not clan bound. Isn't that an ideal to stand up for? isn't that an ideal to speak up for?
  2. ^ What do you suggest? that we sit still and say nothing for the sake of peace? while those who are destroying the fabric of our society keep going? Do you know that people that think like you made teh situation worse, they gave the war lords the chance to hurt our nation. Nef, this kind of (neutral) thinking got us here, if people stood up against those qabqable qabyaaladeed ee wadankeena baabi'iyay umadeenana dhibaatadan u geestay marka ay xumaantooda bilaabayeen meeshan maan joogneen. Hada anigu hadaan ka aamuso kuwan. Wey sii soconayaan. Maalinba tiir kale oo Soomaaliyeed ayaa la duminayaa. This needs to stop here and we all need to take a stand. Take your stand Nefi whatever it may be, its better then fake neutrality.
  3. Xanthus, With or without hidden motives, the author made mistakes that have been pointed out in this thread. 1. She linked Cilmi Boodheri with the secessionists. ( Point already proven, argument closed) 2. By linking Cilmi Boodheri to the secessionists she abused his talent for propaganda purposes. So this comes down to A) Cilmi Boodheri was deliberatly used as a propoganda tool by the secessionists B) the author made a mistake and Jacaylbaro saw it as a chance for a cheap SOL propaganda. As another nomad pointed out earlier Jacaylbaro wouldnt have posted this article if the title was Romeo & Julliet in Somalia.
  4. Thanks Munira, it’s a great video.... will definitely show it to family and friends.

Sarcastic or not, it was another unneeded comment, or rather you seem to have adopted the famous weapon of throw everything you have all at once. Whether I’m sharper, or smarter is also irrelevant, I could be a dim blond or just a confused mixed up individual, again that is not the point of this thread, or the topic, or the original argument. I’m done with this. p.s. Editing your post so often makes replying confusing, as things tent to appear or disappear after I replied. Xanthus, What’s the point of the original post? Other then a cheap propaganda while abusing an icon in Somali poetry. Nothing of importance has been edited in my posts, I have changed some spelling mistakes and made some additions of a post I made 30 minutes ago. Please reply if you have anything to contribute to this discussion.
  6. I am glad you admitted she works in the secessionist enclave. We are moving forward. Whats next is she married to Riyaales cousin. And is this article not lobbying for the secessionist cause while using the Somali arts? Originally posted by Xanthus: (who by the way is not married to Riyaal cousin, read her profile.) Now spot the difference....... I am no linguist but I can say that one is a sarcastic remark while the other one is implication that I said that the woman is married to Riyaale cousin. So as usual your mixing things up Xanthus.
  7. Xanthus, Walaal, inaabti, inaadeer, abaayo, I never said that this woman was married to anyone, so hold on to your horses will ya (this is not a horse joke) The territories name is important, because its the link that those that are using Cilmi Boodheri as a propoganda tool are trying to make. I thought you was sharper then that Xanthus. Take this example, if the female wrote this article said Romeo & Julliet in the British Somaliland Protectorate, then I would not raise an objection, because she would be reffering it to the time of the story and the politics of the region at that time. But if she said for example Araweelo in the British Somaliland Protectorate, then she would be wrong because at the time of Araweelo, the region was not a protectorate...are you following me? So the title Romeo & Julliet in Somaliland implies. 1. That "Somaliland" (the secessionist entity) existed long before the nineties which is false. The secessionist entity is from the nineties. 2. That Cilmi Boodheri is from there, which is also false. (We have already discussed that) I am glad you have the books so please read them, because its a shame using them as paper weights. Ps. It is not only childish its also bad manners to misquote people. So please refrain from that in the future
  8. The secessionist enity was called Somaliland before joing forces witht the south and becoming Somalia, in the nineties, they could not think of a better name or solution then just to return to what they already knew! Do I really have to be your history teacher?
  9. Xanthus, your childish, you are misquoting me!!!!!! thats not cool. When you say "quote"...you can't change my words. *Waves with his fist*
  10. Xanthus, ofcourse they told you their side, its like getting to a family house where there has been a domestic and listening to one side. Ofcourse you will get a biased story. About the name of the territory? ofcourse its important, nothing childisch about official names For example Republic of Korea Democratic People's Republic of Korea Which is which? And whats the differnece between? The Republic of Somalia The Somali Democratic Republic Transitional Federal Government of The Somali Republic So the name of the territory matters, and thats why I am saying the secessionist enity dreamt up 'Somaliland' and it did not exist before the ninties. The territory was called The British Somaliland Protectorate.
  11. Jacaylbaro......caawa xaflad weyn ayaan kuu samaynaynaa...wad todobokun jirsanaysaa duq waaxid!
  12. Originally posted by Xanthus: (me) So Xanthus here is my question for you. Now is Cilmi Boodheri's identity a secessionist identity? and isn't secessionist a political ideology since when is it identity? I am not denying the man his identity (clan, regions..etc), I am speaking out against those that are abusing the man's legacy for their politics. (Xanthus) I never said anything about a political ideology (although now that you mention it, if you embrace it does become part of your identity) but what I am saying is he has an identity which was pointed out/ named as Somaliland which it was called long before 1991, so your objection is overruled, now please get over it. One can be from Somaliland region without having a SomaliLander Ideology. Ok we agree that he is long dead and that he would/might have been neutral on political issues just like Hadrawi. We are making progress. The secessionist region that your talking about was never called 'Somaliland' before the nineties, as you have pointed out in previous threads history is not your strongest point. The area was called The British Somaliland Protectorate, thats very different from the current secessionist enity in many ways. So what objections can you overrule? For the sake of clarity let me summarize what we discussed. 1. He lived long before this secessionist enity was dreamt of. 2. He would/might have been neautral politically. 3. The secessionist enity was not called Somaliland before the nineties. 4. Qabiil does not make one a supporter of political ideology. So in other words, there is nothing to link Cilmi Boodheri with the secessionist enity, except that he dwelled a certain area in Somalia that they are claiming long before the. So why is this poor talented man being abused for politics that ain't his? One can be from Somaliland region without having a SomaliLander Ideology. Well done
  13. Originally posted by Xanthus: Dhulqarnayn -alSumaale While I agree with everything you said, I find myself thinking, now why on earth does he say ME is right, ME who is having a hard time admiring someone unless they are disassociated with their identity, ( their clan and birth place is part of this). Irish or Scotsmen take pride in the same individual while acknowledging his birth place and identity. They embrace the difference and take pride in what he stood for. Putting someone down just because the individual isn't related is as bad as accepting and holding someone up while denying the very essence of what forms their identity. When the likes of ME can admire someone and like them, while at the same acknowledging their identity, then and ONLY then can it be said that the heart is clean and that is true pride. Xanthus, Gambar soo jiido. 1. Cilmi Boodheri is a great poet, and is amongst my favorites......quraafaadka aan akhriyo isagaan ka soo xadaa, sheeko xaliimo kasta looga sheekeeyana wey tahay. 2. Cilmi Boodheri was born in a certain town and from a certain clan and thats his identity, I am not disagreeing with that the people who are closer to him clanwise can also boast and brag about the accomplishments of 'their' poet. Now whats my objection against this article? This article is associating Cilmi Boodheri who lived so many years ago with the secessionist entity thats of recent times. Cilmi Boodheri is being used as a propoganda tool for the secessionist entity, that has nothing to do with him except if your saying that its a clan thing. And because he was a member of a certain clan, then by default he would have supported the secessionist idea. ( Are poets zombies? nahhhh...) A question what was Cilmi Boodheri's political stance? what did he say about secessionism? did some one dig up his grave and found him holding a secessionist flag? I have raised the question of whether Cilmi Boodheri would support the secessionist entity if he was alive today. Because modern day poets such as Hadrawi who is amongst the greatest living Somali poets today does support the secessionist enity and is known for his outspoken pro Somali Unity stance. The same goes for Bacadle. I am saying that a Somali icon like Cilmi Boodheri who is long dead should not be abused for propoganda purposes by the secessionists. If this kind of thing continues it will damage the Somali arts. So Xanthus here is my question for you. You said When the likes of ME can admire someone and like them, while at the same acknowledging their identity, then and ONLY then can it be said that the heart is clean and that is true pride. Now is Cilmi Boodheri's identity a secessionist identity? and isn't secessionism a political ideology since when is it identity? I am not denying the man his identity (clan, regions..etc), I am speaking out against those that are abusing the man's legacy for their politics. I am also saying that the arts should be above politics, otherwise it will be like the TFG poet, the Puntland band, the USC keyboard player, the SNF writter, the USP gabyaa etc. etc. p.s. the likes of ME have a clean heart, this is politics babes not clannism

Whats to do in London...this week? any events, parties, lectures, demonstrations? shiisha marathons?
  15. Boodheri meesha uu ku dhasay iyo cida uu yahay cid u diidaysaa ma jirto, meeshan waxaan leeyahay in artska soomaaliyeed a qabyaaladeeyo maaha. Soomaali oo dhan ayaa isla leh, in Boodheri loo isticmaalo as a propoganda tool maaha. Thats not hard to get is it? BOB waan ku fahmay, hasayeeshee waad khaldantahay. The legacy of Boodheri a great Somali poet should not be tainted by these secessonist mafia.

Btw how do you folks make up your mind? Somali clans remind me of the borg.

When was the last time you folks listened to this Couldn't find my favorite Pete Rock & CL SMooth on youtube. Pete Rock & Cl Smooth Lyrics "Pete Rock & Cl Smooth - All The Places" All the places and spaces I’ve been (repeat 4x) [cl smooth] Welcome to the zone where the strong only survive Places I drive all the gangsters can’t stay alive Take my universal journey through the jungles of the hardest town Where my brothers lay their life down You want something to play with? Go find some toys when you mistake these grown men for little boys More real than what is real so feel I’m sending Compare the God with no beginning and we’ll have no ending My blessed rings are down with the kings revalation Had heard me on the run-dmc’s reincarnation Child abuse, women loose, robbery and triple homicide Every where this black man resides still Check the monolouge, I’m on a 6 a.m. jog To regain my powers, do a set before the showers I’m prime for the summertime, the big time bowler But any season or reason we can’t take it over All the places and spaces I’ve been can you feel it? (repeat 6x) Are you ready for the legendary crazy rugged ? ready war? Known to be the smooth that sat by the door Furthermore, for you and I to click, here’s the stats Take all that dirty money, set the wash doors and laundromats You love to gamble now we open an after-hours spot 20 sacks with the guiness for the jackpot Members only, playing pool like willie marconi With a tenderoni chatting about the gs I’m batting I’m patting down with the sound of a general Fully supplied by my ghettofied residential We come to rebuild and turn off the heat now Hoping we can take it back to yugenot street Palled around the screen tv watching the fight Tonight, cause if it ain’t rough it ain’t right Ink tents in all of my circumference I connect Now demanding all types of respect, can you dig it? All the places and spaces I’ve been can you feel it? (repeat 6x) Travelling the warp speed we come to the peak Like a missle I probe and seek, many can’t critique My physique is still solid, chiseled down to the very last compound I’m trying that chin, fool, where you been? Still sliding girls in as soon as pops fall asleep His game tight, set to flip a shorty late night I like rocks and groupies, condo shows and cuties The hottest cars and the strongest drinks at the bars This is one of those joints that make you stand by the exits Cause every time I’m yapping something crazy happens Keep my tool in my baggy jeans rolling with sneaker feet Who got a life term working for the firm My labor’s fruit off of business as usual Plus my two clan band is making me a wealthy man Now from where I stand, believe it’s not a game Pete rock and c.l. smooth’s a household name All the places and spaces I’ve been can you feel it?
