  1. ^Check the second link and how much the estimates vary. It's hard to estimate the number of Somalis in the UK. Are we looking fo Somali born? Somali nationals? Ethnic Somalis? How about a kid born in Holland, who has Somali parents and has now the British nationality, who lives now in Leicester. I don't think there are more than 150K ethnic Somalis in UK.

  4. This is not lost in politics. This is finally seeing the game and it's about time I tell ya! The D-clan should sort out it's business and choose it's own direction. The interverence of the Xabash, SL, PL, TFG, ICU should be stopped. The clan should build it's own administration. Xabashi, SL iyo PL ayaa u tashaday dadkan, the interest of the clan should come first! Only when the clan thinks of it's own interest first will there be progress in the SSC region.

  8. ^get over it. A good man, who was frustrated with the id*ots that surrounded him, called them names. It's about actions, visions and reaching goals. You call yourself abu geeljire, come here with some pirate flag and you are questioning the poems of a great man who fought for the liberation of his land against colonial oppressors and their dabodhil*fs. You are doing to the legacy of the Sayyid what the TFG cheerleaders are doing right now. So what makes you better then the TFG supporters? You are critisising the poems of a man who fought for islam, liberty and the honour of the Somali nation. Why do you do this? is weydii.

The sayid was a good man in a troubled society, he couldn't cure the society. He failed, but atleast he tried to bring change for the good. The Sayid deserves our respect because he tried, while allot of men rolled over and played dead. Since the Sayids time not much has changed in our society. If you read his poems read it with the intention to learn from his experiences. Don't read with the usual tribal eyewear.

  11. Dutch MP posts Islam film on web Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders has posted a controversial film critical of Islam's holy book, the Koran, on the internet. The opening scenes show a copy of the Koran, followed by footage of the attacks on the US on 11 September 2001. The 17-minute film was posted on video-sharing website LiveLeak. Its planned release had sparked angry protests in Muslim countries. Dutch PM Jan Peter Balkenende said the film wrongly equated Islam with violence. "We believe it serves no purpose other than to offend," he said in a statement. "But feeling offended must never be used as an excuse for aggression and threats." The film is called "Fitna", a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife". Dutch broadcasters have declined to show the production by 44-year-old Freedom Party (PVV) leader Mr Wilders, who lives under police protection because of earlier death threats. 'Spiteful' Graphic images from the bomb attacks on London in July 2005 and Madrid in March 2004 are shown. Pictures of a woman being stoned, scenes from a beheading and images of the Dutch director Theo van Gogh, who was murdered by a radical Islamist in 2004, are also included. And pictures appearing to show Muslim demonstrators holding up placards saying "God bless Hitler" and "Freedom go to hell" also feature. The film shows a young girl in a headscarf making derogatory comments about Jewish people. It also displays a graph showing how the number of Muslims in the Netherlands and Europe has grown. The film ends with someone turning pages of a Koran, followed by a tearing sound. A text that appears on the screen says: "The sound you heard was from a page (being torn from a) phone book. "It is not up to me, but up to the Muslims themselves to tear the spiteful verses from the Koran." The film concludes: "Stop Islamisation. Defend our freedom." Two years ago the publication in Denmark of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad sparked protests across the Muslim world. But Brahim Bourzik, a spokesman for a Dutch Moroccan group, told Reuters news agency he did not believe Mr Wilders' film would spark fury from Muslims in Holland. "It is not a film, it is propaganda," he said. "All the elements have been seen before, there is nothing new in it." The UK-based website which allowed the film to be posted online defended its decision on Thursday. "LiveLeak.com has a strict stance on remaining unbiased and allowing freedom of speech so far as the law and our rules allow," it said in a statement posted online. Your comments Of course the film should be posted on the internet. Freedom of speech needs to be protected. "I do not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it". Siobhan Cooney, Dublin, Ireland I've seen the film and while it's distasteful, it'll give the moderate Muslims a chance to speak out. The negative image concerning Islam could in my opinion largely be counteracted by the moderate speaking out against radicalism, which is not happening enough. Erwin Kuipers, Hoogeveen, The Netherlands I believe it should not have been posted. Every human on God's earth has the right to choose his or her religion and beliefs and as fellow humans it is our duty to respect that. Why should anyone make fun of anyone else's beliefs? Syed Kazmi, London, UK As a law abiding Muslim being born and raised in the West I think this film is appalling. I am all for freedom of speech, every human being has the right to be heard but as the saying goes with power comes responsibility. This film has no other purpose but to perpetuate a growing sense of division in an already deeply divided world. Lena, Luton, UK Of course, they should be posted. We, in Western Europe, have won our rights to freedom of speech and we need to retain and defend these rights. Charles Roffey, Amsterdam, The Netherlands BBC
  12. Dutch Islam film posted on website Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician, has posted a film on the internet that accuses the Quran of inciting violence, despite government fears that it will offend Muslims and cause protests. It was posted on his Freedom Party's website but could be watched only briefly before the site said it was not available for technical reasons. The 15-minute film called Fitna, a Quranic term sometimes translated as "strife", started with a warning that it contains "very shocking images". It is interspersed with images of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Centre and other bombings with quotes from the Quran. International criticism The Dutch government has distanced itself from Wilders' views and fears the film will cause protests by Muslims similar to those sparked by the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in Danish newspapers in 2006. Before seeing the film, demonstrators have already taken to the streets from Afghanistan to Indonesia to express their anger at the Netherlands, while the governments of Pakistan and Iran have sharply criticised the project. The film shows a young girl in a headscarf being asked about Jews and Dutch broadcasters have refused to screen the film and a US-based web service on which Wilders had planned to show his film, deactivated the site at the weekend after receiving complaints. Hans Andringa, a political correspondent for Radio Netherlands, told Al Jazeera that the film is not an insult to Islam as a religion. "I do not think this film is blasphemous, Wilders is expressing his opinion about political Islam, and not the religion itself," he said. "Perhaps many will not agree with his views, but he does not represent the ideas of the Dutch government - this is just the personal views of one MP ." Boycott fears Dutch exporters have expressed fears of a possible boycott in the Muslim world, though trade with such countries makes up only a small percentage of total exports. There is also concern for 25,000 Dutch citizens living in Muslim countries. Wilders has been under heavy guard because of death threats since the 2004 murder of Theo van Gogh, a Dutch director who made a film critical of Islam's treatment of women. His killing by a Muslim extremist triggered a wave of unrest in the Netherlands, home to almost one million Muslims out of a total population of 16 million. Earlier this month, Dutch officials raised the national risk level to "substantial" partly because of the Wilders film and perceptions of an increased al-Qaeda threat. source
  13. I have been following this issue for a while, wilders has been building up the pressure for a while, the movie is not as bad as some expected. In Dutch mainstream forums like Fok and Geenstijl muslims were branded guilty long long time before this film came out. So it doesn't have to do with the film. The film is just an excuse to hate muslims. On the lighter side. He is going to get sued for using the picture of a Dutch rapper and depicting him as a terrorist and he is going to get sued for using the Danish cartoons because he did not have permission.
  14. The fitna movie is out, shid hit da roof, riot police everywhere. Society radicalized and polerized. Populist ******* won. Nomads in Arabia how is this news received? 15. Dear Mr X, As a graduate of an institution of higher education, I have a few very basic expectations. Chief among these is that my direct superiors have an intellect that ranges above the common ground squirrel. After your consistent and annoying harassment of my co-workers and me during the commission of our duties, I can only surmise that you are one of the few true genetic wastes of our time. Asking me, a network administrator, to explain every little nuance of everything I do each time you happen to stroll into my office is not only a waste of time, but also a waste of precious oxygen. I was hired because I know how to network computer systems, and you were apparently hired to provide amusement to myself and other employees, who watch you vainly attempt to understand the concept of “cut and paste” for the hundredth time. You will never understand computers. Something as incredibly simple as binary still gives you too many options. You will also never understand why people hate you, but I am going to try and explain it to you……… You walk around the building all day, shiftlessly looking for fault in others. You have a sharp dressed useless look about you that may have worked for your interview, but now that you actually have responsibility, you pawn it off on overworked staff, hoping their talent will cover for your glaring ineptitude. In a world of managerial evolution, you are the blue-green algae that everyone else eats and laughs at. Managers like you are a sad proof of the Dilbert principle. Since this situation is unlikely to change without you getting a full frontal lobotomy reversal, I am forced to tender my resignation. However, I have a few parting thoughts. 1. When someone calls you in reference to employment, it is illegal for you to give me a bad reference. The most you can say to hurt me is “I prefer not to comment.” I will have friends randomly call you over the next couple of years to keep you honest, because I know you would be unable to do it on your own. 2. I have all the passwords to every account on the system, and I know every password you have used for the last five years. If you decide to get cute, I am going to publish your “favorites list”, which I conveniently saved when you made me “back up” your useless files. I do believe that terms like “Lolita” are not usually viewed favorably by the company. 3. When you borrowed the digital camera to “take pictures of your Mother’s birthday,” you neglected to mention that you were going to take pictures of yourself in the mirror nude. Then you forgot to erase them like the techno-moron you really are. Suffice it to say I have never seen such odd acts with a sauce bottle, but I assure you that those have been copied and kept in safe places pending the authoring of a glowing letter of reference. (Try to use a spell check please; I hate having to correct your mistakes.) Thank you for your time, and I expect the reference on my desk by 8:00 am tomorrow. One word of this to anybody, and all of your little twisted repugnant obsessions will be open to the public. Never f*** with your systems administrator. Why? Because they know what you do with all that free time! Wishing you a grand and glorious day
