Originally posted by Northerner: "Who are the strangers the Prophet scws was refering to in this hadith?" Certainly not kidnappers and murderers. Are you saying what they were doing was right? Are you saying those students who left the building are misguided and should have stayed to fight? Judging from these videos, the interviews with Imam Ghazi, the head female in the madaaraasa and the students, there was no plans nor interest to fight the government/army or to escalate the violence nor any plans to overthrow the government nor interest in power, nor were they talban militants ect ect. This was planned, well calculated, and escalated by the Pakistani government because they wanted to make the Masjid an example. What I Understood was, the masjid surrounded by anti-islamic haraams advised the authorities and the government repeatedly to step in and protect the tenants of Islamic morality in an Islamic Country. Nothing was done by authorities. Prophet Ibrahim scw broke the idols, I see nothing wrong with burning brothels and the like. I know nothing of murders or harassing people-other then the brothel lady and I rather trust the words of the Imams instead of hers, in fact the Masjid was known to shelter rape victims but that of course was underplayed by the media.

I went to the crib of my favorite cuz, she opened the door and when I looked at her face it look like she has been crying, marka worried I ask what happened what happened? Her: Nothing. Me: Say What? You been crying, why you crying what happened? Her: I am reading this book. OMG its soooooo sad. Me: What the hell? You crying over book. (My cousin wa raag raag ahh, I never seen her emotional like that.) Her: walaalhi its soo sad, it’s the best book I have ever read. Me: let me see this. (I look at the cover and then there is a pregnant girl with tears in her eyes.) What the hell why you reading this garbage, you crying over this bull. Her: OMG it’s the best book I have ever read. My cousin proceeds with excitement (and sadness) to tell me about the book, the best book ever written according to her! The book is Ayaan Daraan, and is about an innocent naive little girl deceived by a married cat, commits zina and then gets pregnant. She gets disowned by her peeps and society. Um kinda dumb-founded, so what why would that be sad she did the deed then pay the price. To make it short, I thought the story was qashiin in beginning and was telling her not to waste her time reading dumb novels like that, but eventually I picked up the book the first somali book I ever read and first novel of that sort. Apart from helping me increasing in my af somali..........WOOOOOOW it is an amazing and powerful tale. Whoever said the pen is mightier then the sword, indeed was right, it made me sympathetic to the phlight of the main character Asli. People can be evil walle. This story teaches important life lessons whatever life throws at cha, hold on stay strong and handle it, one of the best books I have ever read, glad to have put my ego aside on this one. This book should be made a moive. Ayaan Daraan

"These are NOT the 'stangers' the Prophet (scws) was refering to." Who are the strangers the Prophet scws was refering to in this hadith? Khayr well said akhi, it was also mentioned when the Dajiil comes most of mankind including majority of the muslims will follow him. We seek in Allahs Refuge from the trails and ask Allah for His Guidance and Mercy. May Allah grant jannah the imam and his students, Guide Musharaaf to the right path or make him an example like Farcuun.

Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, was sent with the message of Islam to a world full of darkness and corruption. People at that time believed in idols and were following their desires. Prophet Muhammad wanted to bring the people back to the worship of Allah. Alone, he was like a stranger in a corrupt society. He believed however that Allah will strengthen him in conveying the message of Islam to the world. So he worked with his companions to spread Islam. Although they were at first weak in their own country and strangers among their own people, the Prophet and his companions strived hard till they established the first Muslim state in Medinah, and later on included the whole Arabian peninsula. Muslims today experience the strangeness of Islam and need to learn from the life and seerah of the Prophet the means to repell the strangeness of Islam and to revive strength in the body of the Muslim Ummah. Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said: "Islam initiated as something strange, and it would revert to its old position of being strange, so good tidings for the strangers." (Recorded by Muslim, Attirmidthi, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad) This hadith shows that Islam started weak and strange, then became strong and will then, at certain times and places, go through a second state of weakness. Muslims who then stick firmly to their religion will have many dissenters and only few supporters. The believers at that time become like strangers or aliens even if they are in their own country.

The inside part of the masjid is red, tho not relevant in the wake of what took place. There is a lot of fiqh questions in this eposide at Pakistan. IF you see evil: change it with your hand, if not able change it by your tongue, if not able then hate it in your heart and that is the weakest part of faith. (saxiix hadith).

I found these interesting articles on muslimatters.org, made me remember the topic about mecca and the brothels (I still don’t believe dat shit  ) but okey a serious sickness exists in the ummah fo sure. May Allah protect us. It should be pretty obvious to most of us, especially the Muslims who still maintain ties/visitations to the “motherlands” that the Muslim world does indeed have a problem with sex. There is a growing level of promiscuity, sexual frustration, intimate problems in marriage, etc. that are causing havoc in the Muslim countries. Tariq Nelson had discussed this topic sometime back in this article. A quick analysis of google-trends affirms the problem. See the table below, which may be somewhat startling to some people, yet not surprising at all to others. Pakistan has the unfortunate bragging right, atop the list for the most proportional searches of the term “sex” on google (based on all-time searches). Proportionality measures the number of times that the term “sex” is searched, divided by the total number of all searches. Sadly, 7 out of the top 10 “sex”-search nations are Muslim countries, including the countries usually considered the most “conservative” in popular opinion– Saudi Arabia and Iran. Interestingly, while Pakistan and Egypt are firmly entrenched as #1 and #2 respectively, Saudi and Iran have slipped out of the top-ten in the last 2 years. This of course is not voluntary. Thankfully, both Saudi and Iran have installed web filtration that is preventing this feed of mental perversion to the region, likely in the time frame of 2005-2006. Of course, while internet may have been somewhat effectively blocked (though I reckon that novice users would find their way around the filters) , the steady flow of other sources of pornography, erotica and other destroyers of hearts and minds continues. There is Satellite TV, videos, etc. that provides what internet may have been prevented to. The crippled, hollow hearts then search for all sorts of ways to engage in what the body is forbidden or does not have the resources to engage in. New technology continues to provide new ways to engage in secret rendezvous, which eventually lead to further corruption. No more need for cell-phone flinging when you can use blue-tooth now. No more need for scribbling cell-phone numbers… as this blog entry from a few months ago highlights. It begs the question though as to whether bans really do the trick? While I am a proponent of starving the inflow of perversity through any channels to a Muslim populace, the question is why is this populace in so much need for this trash? Why is there this desperation, this hidden desire for haraam? I know many older immigrants from the Muslim countries will insist, and rightfully so, that this is a relatively recent phenomenan, perhaps dating back to the last 20 or so years. My theory for what it is worth is that the advent of pornography on demand in the form of videos, satellite TV, and then internet has slowly fed sexual perversion into the hearts and minds of the Muslim youth for the last two decades. While on the outside, the norms of Muslim society prevented the actual “practice” of what the corrupted hearts and minds now desired, people have been caught up between two different worlds: a world of sex on their TV sets and computer monitors, and a world of the literal and metaphorical hijab and “parda” on the outside. This of course breeds the underground world of sexual escapades and desperation, to the point of being turned-on by the sight of feet (as in the case where women wear complete jilbab/niqab), secret messages and encounters, and the like. So, what to do about it? The solution is not and cannot be to open up the society and have a free for all as in the Western world. Yes, if you open everything up, people may not need to search for sex on the internet when it becomes readily available in the physical form. But that of course is worse and not the goal. Part of the solution, IMHO, is to start with the kids and I already discussed this in the Sex ed. post I wrote before. If children are trained and raised in a way that prevents (to the extent possible) the desire for secret perversions and “secret learnings” where sex is this huge taboo that has to be talked about when parents are not present, then this prevention would be a positive first step. Knowledge is power, even for kids. And pure knowledge of Islam is the most powerful foe of Shaytan’s planned little steps for little kids. This does not solve the problem for those who are already affected. In this case, early marriage is definitely a help. As Dr. Athar mentions here, “I am not proposing that all Muslim youth be married at age 16. But I must say that youth should accept the biological instinct and make decisions which will help a more satisfied life devoted to the career rather than spending time in chasing (or dreaming about) the opposite sex. Parents should help their sons and daughters in selection of their mate using Islamic practice as a criteria and not the race, color or wealth. They should encourage them to know each other in a supervised setting.” And there is no guarantee that marriage will solve the problem. I have heard from enough sources that there is a strong underground swingers movement in Pakistan, revealing not only the level of sexual perversity but also a complete disappearance of a sense of chivalry amongst some Muslims. Thus, not only is there a need for early marriage, but also a need for “continuing education” classes for adults, in the light of Islamic texts. Dr. Heba Qotb is filling some of this need on an Arab Satellite TV (see here and here). I have to admit that I haven’t seen any of her programs, so I am not in a position of evaluating the content. But it does seem that she is approaching it the right way. There is no doubt that Muslim adults have a lot of questions… about 10% of all questions on the popular Islam-QA site are related to the search term “sex”– in all about 600 questions; more than “basic tenets”, “Quran” and “Hadith” combined! So, my next article will talk more about this subject. Until then, chime in. And to throw in a related curve-ball, I would like you to especially chime in whether you think there should be sex ed. talks at Texas Dawah, separate for men and women? muslimmaters Releated article. Salaamu alaykum I am taking an elective on the history of western civilization, and I am writing an essay right now about the jews and the holocaust. We all know what happened to the jews in Europe, and it got me thinking about the Muslims in the West. Everywhere we look, and turn its about Islam and the Muslims. Muslim doctors are arrested, Muslim charities are shut-down, Muslim civilians and masjids are under surveillance, more then half of European citizens support the idea of issuing special cards to Muslims, and special lines at the airports, all the wars are against Muslim States and so on. And it’s incredible the amount of hate on the tv/radio against Islam and the Muslims, even presidential candidates in the US are saying if America is attacked, the Holy cities of Mecca and Madinah should be bombed. The hateful propaganda against the Muslims and their deen, is in sync to that against the Jews in the 20th century. I am just wondering what our future holds in particular for those of us living in the West, could not history repeat itself, the following decades (year 2050) with spotlight directed against the Ummah? La tazan inna laha ma’ana the Prophet scw told Abu Baker ra in the cave. Mecca, Madina should be attacked if US is attacked: US presidential candidate peace out

Peacenow u said: Why would you also ask, I advocate closer links with Black Africa. Because in these time, being associated with the Arabs is not the best idea, when the only superpower has set his eye on them. It is doubly dangerous for Somalis. Your getting things mixed up sxb. Somalia is part of the Arabic league one, and as ive said before Somalia due to its position in Africa and Islamic traditions has always been linked with Arabiya through trade, education, ect ect. Somalia will always be linked to Arabiya, and to the Muslim Ummah (community). A great example of this is the yearly hajj to Makkah, the land of the Prophet Muhammad scw. The Muslims of Somalia are interlinked with the Muslims of Arabiya, as the prophet scw said the Muslims are like one body, it is part of our creed, do you understand that? Second is the politics issue, I would think someone who claims to be “enlightened” and educated would know more about how world politics works. Its like the cold war games, there was nothing personal against Russia, and communist ideology the problem however was their interests threatened America’s interests. And if you go back during the cold war era, you would see that America allied with and supplied the Mujhideen in Afghanistan (rag tags its against now) or anyone that threatened Russia and was against the communist ideology. The new ideology or “threat” to American interests in global politics be it in the Arab World and beyond is what has been deemed as “Islamic extremism”, those who want to overthrow the corrupt dictators in the Muslim world that were imposed by the US government and replace with it Islamic Rulers and this of course would mean nationalization of crude resources such as oil. The violence and methods by some of these groups is indeed unIslamic and violates the laws of Shariah, however going back to your logic and own arguments that you support the asmara group in the “bigger aims of the things” well the “Rag tags” in Arabiya or Pakistan greater aims are getting rid of foreign troops from the Soils of Arabiya, From Kashmir, from Chechnya, so on and deposing of corrupt dictators. That is why sxb your logic is flawed. The rest of your post, only leads up to the your conclusion that Somalia needs an Attaturk and secularism to “prosper”. Attaturk was anti-religion and lead a fierce campaign to completely erase Islam and its history in Turkey, in favor of European Model. Well we Muslims are not Europeans, we have our own religion, our own beliefs, our own history, our own values, our own laws , we respect theirs and ours should be respected.
