  1. I was deeply sadden by the Channel 4 documentary, I believe that it was to awfully bias and was in its own way in sighting further racial & religious hatred and generally conflict between already antagonistically unstable ethnic groups. Darcus Howe this so called ‘presenter’ was seemingly confusing popular youth street culture as that of racial culture (in some cases religious culture). All the youths who appeared on the documentary were all similar in speech and action yet the only differentiating factor was race. It’s not that these Somali youths act in such barbaric ways because of the struggle with war in Somalia as one community worker pointed out on the documentary, because the majority of young Somali youths in London were never actually caught up in the conflict in Somalia. These youths are acting much like the gang bangers you see in America, however there turf is the issue rather than racial differences. But with somewhere as over populated and diverse as the UK one can only struggle to hang on to its fading identity, pride and culture. And because these Somalis choose to band together, it’s some how now being depicted as some sort of hostile act against other ethnic groups. In spite of this I’m not making excuses for their horrific acts of violence, because violence can never be condoned in any situation, but just pleading for the acknowledgement that the Somali population can not be judged over the actions of a few young and impressionable youths who largely idolise the Hip Hop culture, which so extensively endorses crime and violence. I also noticed that most of the people interviewed were stereotyping whole races by the actions of a few bad seeds, I seriously doubt the actions of a dozen or so Somalis can represent the hundreds if not thousands of Somalis living within the UK. And it’s laughable that these former victims of racism and oppression can so easily turn the tables and can now victimise the new immigrants like they were not so long ago. I was slightly embarrassed at the Somali community youth worker who attacked the camera crew and the other Somali man who claimed to be one of the first arrivals in Woolwich but was obviously struggling with English. This was hardly a display of the great accomplishments Somalis have gained during the short while they were here. But in a way I was pleased that none of the Somali youths agreed to be interviewed on the documentary, because some things are best left unsaid and why would someone want to burden themselves with the huge responsibility of representing a nation especially when it’s so open to criticism from other Somalis!? I believe no one is in the right position to represent a whole race because everyone’s views vary and even conflict with one another and to allow that would in itself be pardoning outsiders to form stereotypical views against us. This feeble excuse for a documentary came across as more of a proclamation for the badly sought after crusade against Islam that the ‘west’ is so determined on. And I'll definately be making a compliant at Channel four's website!
  2. That sounds like something a pimp would say to his staff. Really seven of Nine I expected better of you!
  3. LST sorry walaal but my knee jerk reaction came about because I saw how unjust and bitter this thread had become. Even if OG girl was guilty of anything then why is it that the admin chose to post the accusation here of all places, when he knew she was in a middle of a heated debate and by him exposing her it would lead to a loss of her creditability on this thread. I’m assuming this was some form of discrimination. As for this laughable investigation into proving her guilty... I don’t exactly see how this is possible. As my friend OG girl tells me she uses a dial up connection and travels a lot, so the use of IP address to prove anything is useless and fruitless. And surely you can’t be trying to prove her guilty because her manner of posting had changed a couple of times? For anyone to suggest that is an insult in its own right! Anyways our admin isn’t perfect…no one is and I’m not being ungrateful. Because I seem to remember a time I was banned for no reason and then once I had bothered to write to him, I found out it was a mistake. But obviously the admin didn’t admit that it was a mistake, instead he told me that someone else was banned who was using the same IP address as me, which doesn’t make sense since I use a dial up and always have. But hey saying sorry and admitting to your mistakes isn’t something everyone can do. So I’d like to say sorry for any bashful and offensive remarks I’ve made to any member of SOL and that includes the Admin.
  4. You know what, I was thinking about who made these allegations and on what grounds they were made...Trust Nur to get confused! (Is the light getting a little dim? Maybe you should change it) Once again I'd like to let you know and make it clear that walaal only Allah the Almighty is all seeing and all knowing! Please try to remember this in future! *It's funny how when (we think) we're at the top we forget the little important things that made us so high in the first place!*
  5. That’s practically exploitation! I don’t believe in selling yourself or going to great lengths to beautify yourself for people you’ll end up working along side. Retail is a hard one to crack, it’s all about selling something if not yourself, I personally think you should set your eyes on something more rewarding. Voluntary work always pays off walaal, stick by it. Just make sure you network whilst in there and build connections with other organisations and before you know it (believe it or not) jobs will be looking for you! I know I had the same problem once and I use to go as far as telling potential employers when they asked if I had experience “Experience can only be obtained by a job and job can be obtained by experience…is this a joke or a trick question?!†anyways walaal good luck!
  6. You know I might be a little uninformed with this whole shenanigan but I’m seriously shocked and disgusted from the few posts I’ve read. I’m surprised that all of this was going on right under my nose and I failed to notice it. To think that the wisest of us could turn out to be the most foolish of us, well I believe that’s all just part of a package in this world because power and greed are sisters and will ruin all that is good at the end of the day. The Admin has reared this ugly side of his/her face before on SOL and went unnoticed, but hey after all we’re all weak and feeble at times, for god sake we’re human! Og girl has always been a loyal member of SOL, she’s never posted anything remotely abusive unless of course provoked. And then now you decide to threaten her in public with talks of banning her, simply because someone (I think close to you) decided to point a finger at her and you thought you’d jump up like a trained pet and do the honours!. Oh and as Jumatatu rightly said…you resemble the so called superpower and if this is your idea of democracy, what happened to the Geneva Convention? At least pretend you care about it, you owe us that much! I realised ages ago that this is all some comical fable and that people need to realise that freedom doesn’t exist in this world, because one person’s freedom will always conflict with someone else’s freedom… so I guess trying to be mutual and fair is the next best thing. Nur as many people have already stated and at the risk of sounding alittle like a broken record I’d like to make it clear that Allah is the Most Gracious, the most Merciful, the Lord of Mankind and the only Owner and ruling Judge of the day of recompense. Therefore we answer to him and are judged by Allah alone! Please don’t try to display those attributes...they belong to Allah. And for agreeing with your claims that Shiites are not Muslim...For us to do that would be just as Haram as shirk. Because if someone says they are Muslim who are we to question it? Anyways moving on I’d like to congratulate Feynman for such a wonderful approach to this whole sordid affair. And chastise J11 and LST for not doing enough and for LST unnecessary remarks about ex-Somalinet users (for goodness sake they repent for their past sins and some of them have proven to be by far some of the best of us) I can only leave you all with one du'a and thats...Allah yanajena Ameen!
  7. Okay I'll tell you one. Once a upon time there lived a man by the name of Ngonge... (Should I carry on or have you heard this one before?)
  8. Please disregard any comments made by our friend Ngonge, he has just recently discovered he is not of sound mind and health. This is not some sort of sordid Masonic Somali website (which I hope doesn’t exist anyways!) So there aren’t any weirdo rituals for new members as our resident psychopath has mentioned. Anyways welcome to SOL and I hope this place doesn’t turn you into a raving lunatic as you will notice in time, we have a few of those but we’re not quite sure what it is about here that gets people like that.
  9. loool! Judging from your last post I think it's safe to say that you're at the insanity phase of stage two. And before you know it soon enough you'll be forgetting about it.
  10. I guess we're all GULITY as charged! I know I am and nor am I ashamed to admit it. So Ngonge what are we going to do about it? The usual do you think? Complain about it then debate about it and then forget about it. Yep that sounds about right! So what stage are we on now?!
  11. Alla did you just tell me to get lost? How rude!
  12. No, I am the boring one!
  13. Yeah...Boys either break it up or move your hooligan stories along to your little neglected sports section. Thank you!
  14. Rudy you was right after all! people snoop around here trying to dish the dirt on us. Maybe we should all watch we say from now on! You never know it might be on the front page of all the newspapers(Ok that's over doing it alittle!)
  15. Where's the black version! Huh? I think they're really nice but just alittle limited.
  16. SHOOBARO good question! Now here's a question for you...get ready it's going to be a hard one! Why do you always say the silliest things? You've only been a member since April 15, 2004 and you've managed to post 359 articles...have you nothing better to do with your life other than post senseless one liners attacking everyone and anyone whose views and ideas oppose yours!!!
  17. You known I've seriously started to dislike this annoying little double act you've got going here!
  18. Jumatatu that was totally uncalled for! And anyways since you're the one who's keeping up with the BB news, I wouldn't want to ruin your chances of getting into BB, what with the competition!
  19. Oh my days!   Sorry I think I've been hiding under rock or something, I just noticed this post and that I've finally had my five minutes of fame which I doubted would happen!...(WOO HOO!!) Actually it’s really weird, to think that other nomads on SOL had written worse things and then they decide to quote me! How odd and what a weird birthday present aye! But seriously I regret saying it now; it was something I said out of anger but trust the press to distort peoples views. But thank you J11, Otherwise I would have never known that what I think does mean something to someone weird out there.
  20. Me?! Erm…well not many people know this but I’m actually not human. I'm from another world, but I come in peace.
  21. Thanks everyone! But I didn't get that last post!
  22. I think it's easier to match who hates who rather! In which case Qac Qaac would be a bisexual polgamist...(am I allowed to say that?)
  23. ngonge lol i wouldn't even be that old...so ha ha thanks for cheering me up!
  24. Awwwwwwww, Thanks everyone for that... it was really thoughtful of you all! And definately unexpected!
  25. Okay don't you think you two have gone alittle too far with this?! I believe someone needs to wave the white flag!
