  1. I'm thinking about making a formal complaint to London Underground. what do you think? Seriously, the trains on Sunday were a total mess and this afternoon on my way to uni, while waiting to renew my travel card I noticed the staff was being unreasonably rude! Not to me of course but this poor women who couldn't speak any English who asked the ticket attendant for directions (a few times too many maybe )...but still only to be shouted at. The guy shouted at her saying "I'VE TOLD YOU! FOR THE 5TH TIME IT'S IN ZONE 3! I HAVEN'T GOT TIME FOR THIS...GO AWAY" And then this other blind man, who was trying to use his mobile phone as he was leaving the underground, asked for help and I seriously felt disgusted at the way the guy was looking at him. He actually looked annoyed and was practically shooing this poor blind man away with this horrid look on his face. I then turned away and looked on at the queue ahead of me only to see the ticket attendant at the desk was shouting at another women waiting patiently at the other counter, she shouted at her to wait, when the woman hadn't even said anything to her. When it was my turn I approached the counter and asked to renew my ticket and also enquired about an oyster card form , and she was actually rushing me along saying "yeah, yeah give me the card" practically grabbing my student photo ID card and bank card from my hand. She had no manners what so ever. Not so much as a please or a thank you, just horrid screwed face. I walked away shaking my head and then realised she hadn't even given me my ticket I had paid for. So I went back and asked for my ticket, which she had left lying on the desk.( Seriously really wanted to strangle her or punch her lights out! (Oh and I remember noticing she had a busted upper lip Maybe someone had done the honours for me) SO What's happened to customer services?! Huh?! This is their job for god sake…they’re getting paid for this...if they don't like get another job, maybe in a morgue! After seeing that little charade I saw one of those posters on the tunnel wall, warning customers not to assault London underground staff, something like 500 people have been prosecuted for assaulting tube staff in the passed year. I'm thinking do you blame them!? Maybe I should make it 501!
  2. How about Bailey, Mugan and Hagar? Oh and Aare My brother was thinking about calling his sons these but his wife didn't like it, so maybe someone else out there might like them better. Oh and he ended up calling his daugther Yousra, last week and everyone hates it! I feel sorry for the poor thing, layla suited her better.
  3. I posted a topic about "Holy writ" a while back and didn't get any feedback. I guess it's more relevant here.
  4. Dinkiwinki luv if you choose to be an atheist, then so be it. But making inflammatory remarks about Islam is completely unacceptable and down right ludicrous! You joined SOL knowing fully well that it’s an Islamic website for Somalis. So your argument about exercising your freedom of speech is obnoxious. If you’re here to argue about Islam and how authentic it is, you’re out of luck dear, if you haven’t noticed religion is all about having faith. And as you obviously don’t know, I’ll explain… faith is having complete trust and confidence or having a firm belief without logical proof. From that you can gather that Muslims are not interested in derogatory opinions and arguments relating to our religion. At the end of the day we look at this world and see a miracle, but you look at this world and see one big accident!
  5. Boy do I have a list! lol In no particular order: * Let’s stay together - Al green * Son of a preacher man- Dusty Springfield * I say a little prayer for you – Dione Warwick * (Sittin’ On) the dock of the bay – Otis Redding * Breakdown & Underneath the stars – Mariah Carey * Candy rain – Soul for real * What a wonderful day – Louis Armstrong * Differences - Genuwine * Rose in a Concrete World & Table for two - Joe * They don’t know – Jon b (My personal favourite choice!) And so many more!
  6. ^^^ loooool, sectioner if your idea of a good signature is a woman shaking her *** at you, then I guess you won't be doing ANYTHING in front of your parents.
  7. Where's the petition? I'll sign in without a doubt! Ballerz you sound sadistic! Why are you laughing at the misfortunes of another?! I seriously have no respect for cowardice people, who kick people when they’re down. Oh and admin, please do not ban others for speaking out over a clear injustice. I don’t even frequent this section nor have I interacted with nationalist but this will undoubtedly affect the rest of the site adversely. A simple warning would have done, especially when nationalist was simply defending himself.
  8. Caveman, I whole heartily agree with you! I have been for some time trying to convey this very point on SOL for sometime, with sadly no luck. I suggest you read this topic, http://www.somaliaonline.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000575#000000 Freedom and Democracy, do you buy that? Where I practically went blue in the face discussing, but I have come to realize that democracy can only be abolished and Islam put in it's place in an ideal world, where people are not over powered with their own selfish greed.
  9. During my revision period I came across an interesting article on the economist magazine, just at the start of 2005. I was meaning to post a topic on it but didn’t have the time to, so here I am (a month late no doubt) but nevertheless here! Well after reading this article called “Holy writâ€, I didn’t know what to think. I wasn’t sure whether to take the article as a personal attack on our beliefs as Muslims or a laughable excuse for a critical report on holy scriptures. The magazine put a few religious holy scriptures, focusing mainly on Islam's- Quran, Christianity's- Bible and Judaism's- Torah under the magnifying glass, with the quote “Why people of the book have such trouble with language, truth and logicâ€. And then the article carried on pointing out contradictions in the bible and discrepancies with historical time lines and events. They then point out the use of profanity in the torah, which the author argues to be conflicting with the idea that the torah is the holy words of God. But the author then moves on to the Quran, not only does he spend and devote more of his time on the Quran he near enough writes a whole page on it and with no real substantial evidence to emasculate it. He uses the argument that “researchers†(I’m not too sure who they are) have not been allowed to investigate the Quran in hope of finding imperfections and any attempt to do so would surely be endangering their lives. (HA!) The author also mentioned that some research has taken place in Egypt however it had never been published. Therefore leaving the author with one point to argue, which I have to agree with to some degree. The author pointed out the mistranslation of the Quran to be the biggest problem. The author used the example that a potential Islamic martyr could possible misread the reward of “72 virgins†offered to him in heaven as an incentive to commit a terrorist attack when the word virgins could actually mean "white fruit". Which is completely ridiculous because Islamic martyrs, (be it wrong or right) in places like Palestine are definitely not dying for 72 virgins but for the freedom of their people! Anyways you wonder why a magazine for the business world, teeming with philosophical atheists would want to discuss religion. Well since they have and funnily enough, as though they read my mind…they too asked why they had bothered and explained (unconvincingly) that the translation of holy scripts could potentially be the difference between a horrific suicide bombings and peace. What’s your take on this? NB: I wasn’t able to post the actual article, I have it in print. If someone is able to post the full article, please by all means do! 12. I scored a 32% on the "How Somalian are you?" Quizie! I didn't know I was that bad!
  13. raage I think the site is fine luv, as soon as the "Arab bashing" season is over. Anyways I'm glad someone your age is here expressing your views in a postive way...Mashallah you're very mature! Oh and I would offically like to drop the title of the youngest person on SOL! I think Raage deserves it. Maybe I'll ask for it back in 10 years time...when I want an ego boost!
  14. What is wrong with you people? Is it the annual “hate Arabs†week and nobody thought to tell me? Where are major goal is to do everything in our power to belittle and discriminate against all Arabs? Walahi it’s pathetic! To think that suddenly you are all turning against your Muslim brothers and sisters and over what?! What’s changed? The Middle East is in the same position it has been in since last week, so why all the hate mail? I’m starting to think all those years of Western brainwashing has finally worked. With posts like… * Dubai City of fake dreams..... * We, Somalis, are better than the Arabs! * Saudi man with 58 wives stirs polygamy debate * I AM ASHAMED (PART II) * Edward Said's legacy and the Palestinian question Hang on I just had a thought…is it you’re all jumping on the bandwagon like you usually do?
  15. It's working! someone delete this post lol

I've uninstalled it so many times and re installed newer version only to have the same problem. I haven't a clue what wrong with the bloody thing someone please help me out!
  17. I see people didn’t quiet see what I was getting at I did not mean to put across this idea that free will and destiny are one and the same, but I believe that yes they are related because all conscious beings display free will, it’s what makes us human. However qadar is one of the 6 pillars of Iman (faith) therefore this must somehow coincide with free will, and so that is why I was referring to these together Juba. I’ve never been able to explain how this is possible, so I have never given it much thought in fear of doubting Islam. And I was just stating that this string theory does not relate to free will and qadar. The string like theory played out in the movie ‘sliding doors’ is very different to the string theory physicists have proposed as physicists were explaining the predestined gravitational path or movement of a solid object. I believe Viking was initially discussing the affect of one action predestining a series of events. Which still leaves you questioning this idea that if Allah has predestined those events, then how is it possible that you had free will to begin with? Which I believe leads you on to think things like… if person is a sinner it’s not that this person chose to be sinful it’s because Allah predestined it so. (And of course this is questioning Islam) However the prophet Mohammed (saw) did say and started all his gatherings with this haddith… “Whomsoever Allah guides then there is none who can misguide him and whomsoever Allah leaves to stray then there is none who can guide him†   I think I'll leave it there! moving on... Anyway, Baashi I think you’re right to not see a connection since there is no connection. Scientists are forever trying their best to logically explain and categorise everything. It’s laughable, you should see the equations they have formulated to calculate the probability of events happening i.e. natural disasters and death …these people are bent on knowing what only Allah knows. Isn’t that a sign of godlessness?
  18. After reading up on the string theory I would have to say that this string theory does not directly have any connections with qadar or destiny. I think Viking has the theory a little confused; the string theory is in relation to predestined gravitational movements of an object, i.e. a swinging pendulum's path. Physicists introduced this theory and I believe this relates back to "Newton's Laws of Motion" and Einstein’s theory of relativity. I agree that yes the string theory is similar to that of our destiny and fate, for example, that our actions do inevitable initiate a string of actions. Just like the “butterfly effect†the smallest of actions can have a large affect, Where a butterfly flapping its wings in Tahiti can, in theory, produce a tornado in Kansas. However I don’t think the string theory is directly related to qadar or the freewill of a person, since the string theory refers to the predestined movements or path of inanimate objects or objects that do not have or display any signs of free will.
  19. I see what you’re getting at Viking, it’s very interesting and I loved watching sliding doors, I thought it was the best thought out movie ever. However I believe we should not forget that no matter what Allah decides our fate and destiny. By dwelling on what you could have done differently to stop an event from happening you’re ultimately questioning the existence of qadar…are you not? Viking I have to admit that you lost me when you were describing these strings and their dimensions, and how do they decide or affect our fate? I’ve always had trouble understanding how free will and qadar work in union maybe this “string theory†is the answer. If these strings are predestined routes perhaps then wouldn’t this mean that ultimately qadar is in play with the added choice of which string you choose? (does this make sense?)   http://superstringtheory.com/
  20. I'm sorry AJ I wasn't trying to attack anyone walahi. I just thought it was funny, because pissed means drunk in the UK. Sorry obviously what I think is funny is not so funny for you. I'm sorry if I ofended anyone,I seriously did not mean too.
  21. Walahi I thought SOL had a alcoholic in it's mist. pheww! And there I was bracing myself for SOL's version of AA. "Hi, my name is InAndOut and I'm aN alcoholic"
  22. So Ngonge what's the URL! I need a good LAUGH!
  23. Subxanal Allah, walaal I’m so sorry but it’s inevitable, his time came and so will ours. I hope Allah forgives him for his sins and grants him what is due for his good deeds. May Allah have mercy on his soul and give you and your family peace with acceptance. Allahu naxaristo…and inshallah I’ll make a du’a in my prayers for him inshallah. Samir iyo iiman
  24. God you got me so annoyed I forgot why I was posting in the first place! *Ahem* Right…as I was about to say! Element 6 I really liked that idealog (?) I think that’s what it was called. I meant to ask whether you drew those pictures of the guy playing a guitar, if so you’re very talented. I thought it was all rather artistic, especially the picture of the culture clash. Oh and I wouldn’t pay any mind to the bitter ramblings of certain uptight nomads who are particularly deluded!
  25. Wow, harsh and vulgar words in yet another ignorant thoughtless post from you! (This seems to be a regular thing for you!) Personally I thought the pace magazine was brilliant…whether we like it or not these youths will dress and act the way they want, but at least these youths are actually doing something constructive and worthwhile with their time. Would you rather they loitered the streets and did nothing to educate themselves? And in any case if you dislike the way they present themselves then why do you have to be so prudish and rude about it? Why are you so quick to damn them? Who made you the almighty king, judge and executioner?
