I know this is a silly topic, but I couldn't help myself! I came across the funniest thing and thought I had to share it but instead of starting a whole topic dedicated to it alone I thought I’d make one for blogs in general. Whenever I’m bored I resort to browsing blogs, I always come cross some weird, interesting and funny things that I never get to share. so I thought why not share?! and you can share yours too! This one is from a Liberian whose defining the origin of the word “git†It definitely had me chuckling because I use the word A LOT! And plus I liked the last paragraph, he reminded me of our own little Ngonge. “Of course just because "silly git" doesn't make sense under this meaning, doesn't stop people from saying it. Look how many American's say "I could care less". When the actual thing that would make sense is "I couldn't care less" indicating that you care so little you could not, in any way, care any less than you do. But as the American's say it, it doesn't make any sense. So maybe the American's are a bunch of silly gits for saying things that don't make senseâ€. HA! (No offense intended - and git is used in this instance with friendly undertones.)†blog

Yeah I read about this on newscientist, it's every intriguing. Mankind has always been bent on making connections with one another and even other organisms. I was browsing the net last week and came across this anthropology thread, and they were discussing the origin of east Africans using actual published scientific papers. I was seriously surprised at how much research has gone on over the origins of east Africans. However, the whole field seems very confused and muddled, contradictory theories being brought forward one after another. But definitely an interesting read! so I've posted the search page, I haven't finished reading it all myself. Website search however be warned...some on the arguements have racist undertones.

I'm in serious need of help! My Java applet is not working, it's running but it's not connecting. That's why I haven't been in nuune's chatroom. well I've tried uninstalling it and installing a different version from the www.java.com website but still nothing has changed. From the java console the only thing I noticed that was different was that there are no proxy settings on my IE. Also another weird thing is from the system dump you can see that firefox is on there...even though I haven't installed it. I need help badly and I can't figure out what I did wrong to mess it up, it was working fine before. HELP!

Mashallah, walahi I wish him the best! He’s really pushing himself that extra mile, mashallah! sheherazade, I completely understand! Today I walked into on a discussion on the UK somalinet chat room (yes I still go there when I’m BORED!) anyway this topic came up and the replies weren’t promising. Instead of wishing him well as a NORMAL person would, they chose to say… â€So what?!†and some were so clueless that they actually said other Somalis go to Eton...what's new? Anyway, your right, it’s just a story to a lot of the youths, they’re too caught up in the whole youth and "hip hop" culture to move or push themselves further. They’d rather be pimps and gangsters and talk using Ebonics. (Sad but true where I live!) But inshallah the few that see the light through the rain may one day inspire the rest. I know at a local Somali girls’ youth club…one of the girls got into Cambridge and mashallah she grew up with us and the rest of us. But I always knew she would be the one who was brave enough to be different and not follow the trend, no matter how much stick she got for it! (believe me I saw it!) Other girls were constantly asking why she spoke the way she spoke, one time one girl told her “talk normal…caadi iska diig, you think you’re better than us†which surprised me  . So sheherazade I understand walaal, but I think a few nomad’s were once thinking about starting up a mentoring program to help encourage Somali youths to aim higher. Sadly it didn’t get off the ground but I think that is the sort of thing we should all be doing in our own way. I always trying to ask youth I meet questions, they should be asking themselves…like “where are you heading?†“What do you plan to do after college?†and I try my best to advice them on what options they have and what they can do if they really try. So inshallah there is some hope for those to have faith.

Analysis: You are meek and misunderstood. Nobody really knows what goes on inside your head, except for the kind folks who implanted that chip in your brain. Sanity Assessment: Your sanity is slightly below normal. lol Nice quiz!

Racism has historically been defined as the belief that race is the primary determinant of human capacities, that a certain race is inherently superior or inferior to others, and/or that individuals should be treated differently according to their racial designation. Sometimes racism means beliefs, practices, and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed race. There is a growing, but somewhat controversial, opinion that racism is a system of oppression -- a nexus of racist beliefs, whether explicit, tacit or unconscious; practices; organizations and institutions that combine to discriminate against and marginalize a class of people who share a common racial designation, based on that designation. Since the last quarter of the 20th century, there have been few in developed nations who describe themselves as racist, so that identification of a group or person as racist is nearly always controversial. Racism is recognised by many as an affront to basic human dignity and a violation of human rights. A number of international treaties have sought to end racism. The United Nations uses a definition of racist discrimination laid out in the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and adopted in 1965: ...any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life. [1] (http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/d_icerd.htm) Assuming that every individual's character adequately can be determined by racial or ethnic stereotypes is race prejudice, and granting or withholding rights or privileges based on such stereotypes is racial discrimination. The term racism sometimes is used to mean a strong and persistent bias or inclination towards these activities. Some believe that the term also is often used incorrectly by supporters of cultural relativism and political correctness to stigmatise their adversaries. Racism is a controversial issue. Whether there is any validity to the concept of race is an issue that is discussed in the article Race. The issue of how and if past practices might be remedied is discussed in Affirmative action, reverse discrimination, and, briefly, in the reparations section of the article on slavery. source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism -------------------------------------------- Sounds familar!

my specs... toshiba satalite M30X laptop, 16', Windows XP, intel pentium M processer 1.60GHz, 599MHz, 512 MB of RAM. Centrino tech, DVD and CD writer multi recorder. Oh and I'm pretty jealous now after reading some of the replies! -
lol, half-witted did you say?! Excuse me? Did you even read what I had to say? or is the PMS blurring your sight as well as your judgement? I'm not here to defend OG, but rather point out foul play. And what gave you this idea that me and OG girl are team players? When and where else have you seen me defending her without just cause? In fact don't even bother answering that! Because I would have gladly come to yours or anyone else’s defence had they been treated unfairly. Anyway Phanta don’t fret I don’t have the time nor energy to waste another second on your growingly tactless and ill judged tiresome twaddle. (It's not even worthy of that!) Moving on.... macalimuu your sarcasm is not appreciated, especially in such a sensitive topic. I think you'll find that us Somalis are the ones coming across as the bitter racist people. I can't believe how many Arab bashing topics we've had just with in these past few months! Instead of focusing your attention on the Gaal countries who are killing out people on a daily basis you choose to attack the Arabs, whom whether you like it or not are our Brothers and sister in Islam if nothing else! I guess it's not just love that's blind, hatred is just as handicapped.

I don’t venture out to these parts much and it’s quiet obvious why. All you come across are deluded and biased arguments about the most ridiculous things for pages on end. Hello!!!! But the fact still remains that these were six supposedly guilty Somali men, executed the normal “Islamic†way the Saudi does it and has done for centuries. Now suddenly it’s unacceptable!? The Saudi has a yearly average of 100 executions! “This brought the number of people executed in Saudi Arabia to at least 78 in the first nine months of this year, and edged the total over the last decade to almost 1,000.†( Amnesty international web page ) So why is that all the nomads on sol suddenly see this as unacceptable? Why is that exactly…huh? Is it because they’re Somali or because they were innocent? It’s laughable that people are arguing about the weirdest of things, if you want to have a debate about capital punishments in Islamic states or any state for that matter then by all means do, please but … without the petty personalisation and personal attacks aimed at our only Arab members. Phanta dear I never had you down as bitter hag but you’re starting to prove me wrong. You obviously have personal issues with OG and I hope you know that is bordering discrimination and hardly the ideal actions of a moderator. Amethyst I know you’re just joining Phanta's bandwagon, and of course you’d never turn down a chance to hate on Arabs. Why are you singling out Somalis? I doubt the most heinous crimes were committed by Somalis in KSA. But getting back to the real issues, I think you’ll find that since the whole topic is about the execution of six Somali men, then rightly enough Somalis will be the topic…are they not? And as far as I’m concerned Saudi Arabia is not alone with all this capital punishment stuff, have you all forgotten that other countries like America carry out executions. America carried out 98 in 1999. source Plus bearing in mind that we’re Muslims and carry out these executions in the prescribed way the prophet Mohammed (saw) did, then why is it that the Saudi its suddenly so evil yet when the gaal countries do it you turn a blind eye to it all! WHY?! Oh and FF dear if you’re simply arguing that sympathy should be shown for the decease then fine, Allah hu naxaristo and forgive them for their sins.

I'm not sure if this is a Aprils fool's day prank but if it is it's a few days late. http://www.cnnonline.co.nr/tupac.htm "Tupac Shakur in Beverly Hills yesterday with long-time friend Suge Knight According to family members and friends of the rap star, Shakur had been in hiding in the Columbian city of Cali under the assumed name of Jamal Millwood. This and other developments in the story have led many to begin investigating lyrics such as "I'm goin' back to Cali" that apparently foretold his disappearance in 1996." reported on CNN?! Has the world gone MAD!

Enter this water world with care For waves sweep away the strong And soon enough, when tired and weak The sea of voices will drown thoughts Once caught in cold and murky needs It will choke attempts to breathe, to live The icy stares like a thousand knifes Will Stab the chest till it bleeds When cold and lifeless The soul will sink to their depths Now crushed and gone Victimised by this watery grave And those who reside within The ones who want but never give The ones who breathe but are dead Take heed or this water world will become your watery grave.

Well I feel miserable, I have so much to do and so little time, yet here I am doing absolutely nothing! But one thing keeping me sane at this moment is my ; which almost takes me away from the pain that this sad lonely planet brings and lets me forget for a split second the distressing reality that I’m stuck here. -
I was searching the net for information about this food dye that was banned in the UK for being cancerous when I looked up alternative words for Sudan I, I came across the weirdiest thing! It turns out that Sudan I also goes by the name of Somalia Orange I. lol The website goes on to explain that Sudan the country, had offially asked for the name of Sudan I to be changed because it was causing alot of unwanted negativity towards Sudan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudan_I#Synonyms_and_brand_names

What I want to know is what happened to Muslim unity? There’s a talk on at the Muslim cultural centre next to East London mosque, organised by the Islamic student Union on the same day from 6-9pm, so why is it that the Somali student union has to go ahead and compete or even segregate themselves from the rest of the Muslim Ummah? Just in the name of being SOMALI!

I didn't really expect Miami and los Vegas to fair too well. I guess I was right! I guess the perception you get from the media over in the UK is pretty accurate. Though I think Houston should have had a lower rating, I wonder if they did a t-test to show the relationship between the intellectual average of each city and the average wealth or deprivation in each city what it would implicate. Or maybe the percentage of ethnic minorities in a city against their rating on the intellectual league table. However I hope you’re all aware that these scores are averages and can not be trusted, for example in the Uk it is estimated that the average person earn £84,000 a year. I know I don’t! But I guess if you have such a large range you’re expected to have averages that off!
