She won the 'Booker Prize' and she writes about civil societies and how they are effected by govts. oh thanks, i knew she won some type of prestigeous award but, if you cant win a nobel peace prize for literature, than what did albert camus win for? kay wait, i think im gonna do some research before i humiliate myself any further.

1)does it matter? 2)they were before islam 3)there are 3 monotheistic religions, anyone can claim them. 4)now this is the show stopper. i respect all of those greek philosophers but alas, they slept with little boys, which is against all 3 known monotheistic religions. now ive only roughly studied theyre work, (plato, socrates) and what i remember they were trying to gather mans place in the world and concluded that there was only one creator but i think they were deist i.e they didnt believe that God intervened in earthly matters, he simply created them. i may be wrong though, but my 4 points stand.

i dont like flirting, im just not good at it. when guys try to flirt with me, its a lil uncomfortable. i dont know, i dont like playing "games", although sometimes a cheesy line like the one mentioned above will get a laugh out of me which can lead to a nice convo if one of us directs it there. seriously, cheesy lines are cool. my friend used to say stuff like "did it hurt" and id say "what", "when you fell from heaven" in this cheesy voice, sometimes wed do it in publice real loud and theatrical like it was a scene in an opera... good times. i miss him.

people who make that *smack* sound when eating, close yr mouth already! seriously, its repulsive. sometimes i dont know whether to throw up or punch the *smacker* in the face.

many famous writers, scientists painters made it with their wifes assistance and had wives who were equally ingenious but overshadowed by their husbands. 1)I forge her name, ill do a google search later, but if you are a lover of literature you should know that T.S elliot's wife helped him in many of his works and even was the author of some of "his" earlier short stories. when they were going through a divorce she threatened to expose him and he sent her to an insane asylum. (women had very few rights back than, the courts were keen on believing a mans word over a womans) 2) lee krasner painter of the abstract expressionist form who was overshadowed by her husband, Jackson Pollock. .... theres more, ill do a google, but youll be surpried at how many women havent got the credit they deserved in arts and science. my mind is getting lazy. oh, ill also add arhundati roy, she is an activist and author of one of my favorite books, "the god of small things", if you havent read it, please do. i think she won a nobel peace prize.

im a sufi, wich is kinda accurate because lately ive been very interested in it.

some people need to try and study their lineage through their mothers instead of the fathers last name, just so you can see that the very tribes that you hate and despise are yr accual blood.

this is great, its better than all those greek mythologies stories i used to read. seriously, we have a great oral history.

also what money are you guys talking about? ususally prevention and awareness campaigns are non-profit. if they wanted money theyd be getting it from the billions of africans dying from the disease ready for whatever medicine the pharmaceudical compagnies would knock off from the name brand drugs. and i dont think religion is a factor because egypt is a a muslim country and it is almost reaching epidemic status. personally, i think it has to do with tourism because the more tourism a country accomodates the more prostitution becomes rampant. i bet you anything the disease is more noticeable in touristic cities.. its sick. these perverts they like to go to foreign countries and exploit women and children, and because they have money, they get away with it... ******* europeans, the whole worlds a joke to them.

i think its a good idea to raise awareness about the disease that is rampant all across the globe, because i dont want it to reach our people at the devastating rate it is for the west africans. and maybe im a pessimist ,but i dont put anybodys so called moral standings at heart when our country and our people just suffered from a disgusting war in which somalis/muslims died at the hands of other somalis/muslims... anything is possible. people are imperfect, allah made it so, so lets not turn a blind eye and say its impossible, many african muslims are affected by this disease and although we need better health care in general, (malaria, polio, etc, wtv), some diseases can be cured, and/or treated, AIDS on the other hand, cant be cured and only the insanely rich in africa will be able to afford treatment.

i dont know the statistics but i heard that you are more likely to be assaulted (sexually, not for petty cash or something) by someone you know than by a complete stranger, which means that restricting yr outdoor activities doesnt really help much, but perhaps scanning yr new "friends" might.

If You had a chance to be a men how you live it up?
SomeAlien replied to ProudSista's topic in General
the 1st couple of hours id prolly be laughin at myself. i dont wanna sound crude, but i dont know how men take themselves seriously with that thing jangling between their legs all the time. -
Originally posted by rudy: now if u look way back during pre-islam days this did not happen. thats not true. polygamy existed long before islam, but islam regulated it to only 4 wives. men, depending on their wealth, would marry more than 4.

suleykha, or cambero. i think those are very pretty names... or sirad.

i heard that some women, after giving birth go through an emotional and sometimes, mental breakdown, from not only the ordeal of physically detaching yrself from a being thats been growing inside of yr body but also the hormonal and chemical imbalances after giving birth. i dont want to sound rude, but i think this woman may need counselling, and yr friend should help her through this difficult time since she is the mother of his kids.

i dont know. do somali men really find the idea of sharing housework insulting? cause my dad can cook, and taught me how to ride my bike n all of that stuff. i mean, i wouldnt call the housework 50/50, but my dad, and most of my uncles, dont treat their wifes like their personal servants, (and theyre yr typical "mans man") and thats what this article was kinda implying, that somali men want their women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and these women got to escape that horrible life as well as their husbands, pfffffft. i have a question though, is this why so many men participated in the war? because they wouldnt be seen as "manly" if they didnt kill for their tribe?

Originally posted by underdog: quote:Originally posted by somealien: isnt it obvious? you yrself dont feel comfortable with him anymore, i say thats grounds enough to break up with him. What????? You're one of those chronically single women, aren't you? ( you don't have to answer that - you know yourself and I won't believe you if you say you're not). Just like that break it off. what ever happened to stuff like..."talk to him and tell him you're not ready". A little quick on the trigger there...slow down a little. i may be wrong and alone in this but does anyone get the feeling EBN is like, 15? anyways maybe i was a lil quick on the trigger but if she is 15, than my statement remains unchanged. now, to get to the matter of yr above statement, what is this you have against me underdog? still healing old wounds from past lovers or something? did i force you to relive a past break-up? whatever it is, just remember celibacy or being "single" isnt an afflicton and if it were, i dont think the best cure would be getting groped and felt up by some guy. yr right though, i didnt leave room for this "guy" to right himself, but if she is in high school like she sounds, (i cant be the only one who thinks this, and if im wrong than i apologize) than i still stand by my statement. not long ago you railed on me for being pro-choice and said that at the root of the issue we were discussing was pre-marital sex. well guess what, its even harder to abstain from such activities as a teenager than it is as an adult whos got their head straight and knows how to deal with such a situation; which is why i think shes young, most girls over 17 wouldnt ask this in a msg board.

oh i knew of it, but that was so graphic. i always look away lwhen watching documentaries about it. accually, funny enough, the first time i found out about it was when i was 11 yrs old and my friend asked me if it was true that somali girls get their privates cut and i was like "no, you must of gotten it mixed up with another country or something" and than my mom explained it to me. i still feel a llil vexed that my friend knew that much about my culture, (and an embarrassing part at that) before i did.
