  4. Maybe I'm blind to goals of the feminist movement...can someone help me out? equal rights basically. men can be feminists too, you know. its not anti-men in any way, at least its not supposed to be. but, generally people have a hard time holding two contradicting thoughts in their heads at the same time, so they come up with their own biased conclusions.
  5. Women make false charges like crazy," a Legal Aid lawyer said. There is no penalty for doing this. i dont think thats true. isnt that obstruction of justice?
  6. consistent companion... i thought i deserved fab friend. hmppph!
  7. any old school hip hop fans? if so than i think you guys will appreciate the new target commercial featuring the song "im cool like that" by diggable planets. yay for them! even if it is for target. but i have a question for you guys, what do you think of hip hop artists who, for the most part make it a point to make their music for the sake of music rather than commercial success,go out and accually DO commercials. for instance talib kweli recently did an ad for smirnoff and not too long ago he had a radio hit with "get by" .... are you disappointed? or do you think its a matter of getting paid? discuss.

That was just to show, how these Amerikaans treat their children, and you people somehow think Soomali parents are evil compared to these GAALO. In the 30yrs i have lived, i have never heard of any Soomali father/mother that has done anything like that. im sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but recently there was a court case in which a somali man sodomized his 9 year old step daughter. nobody would have known til the mother caught him.apparently it had been going on for some time. his defense was that at least he kept her "virginity" intact. sickos are sickos, they know no ethnicity.
  15. ummm, am i the only one who thinks this guy is talking about enslaving black africans? or the bantus, as he feels it "appropriate" to call them? maybe im crazy.
  16. they should stage some kind of grand protest against these fascist, get the whole world aware of whats going on. i know alot of people including me would travel there just to take part. its unacceptable! walahi, this article really touched me. this is just the type of thing that will unite all somalis, get us all working together for a good cause, our own futures. than maybe we can all head back home with some idea of what brotherhood is.

  18. no parent should be scared of disciplining their kids in fear of being called on the authorities, but than again no child should lay victim of an abusive parent (whether physical or sexual) because nobody believes them. of course it doesnt touch only somalis, but since we are somali (a dying race if we dont do something), we need a somali solution, in which troubled kids can get the help they need without running to the american/ western system. there are a number of studies that show the psychological affects that can have on a kid, (what hope or trust can you have in humanity if the people who were supposed to love and care for you treat you like a dog)... again, this isnt the norm, of course, but it happens more than wed like to think if we consider all the shame and guilt involved. studies show that women whove been molested and/or raped as children begin active sexual lives at a much earlier age (and if you think about it, youll see why), and are much more promiscuous than women who werent, kids who are physically abused suffer from a number of mental ailments such as depression, anti-socialness etc. they are more susceptible to participating in criminal behaviour ... and the list goes on <these are all stuff that touch us too, look around in your community. again, nobody is saying that violence and abuse is a part of our culture, it isnt, its a problem that touches us as people.
  19. what do you call "beating" what do you call "abuse"? when you guys write the word "beat" i get the image of tyson and hollyfield, seriously, how much of a beating does a child need to get the point. i grew up in a reg. somali home, i used to get slapped when i was disrespectful (mind you these werent kiddy slaps, they were the kind to give you migraines) and thats about it really. my lil brother gets the same thing. thats not abuse.looking back, when i was a kid i got the coat hanger, but i dont remember those incidents, you wanna know why? cause they werent abuse. i got hit, i cried, i said sorry. whatever. but if a parent begins to take out there own problems on their kids, because theyre annoying them, kicks them in the chest, throws em down the stairs, than yeah, id call that abuse. i wouldnt want any of my lil cousins living in that type of household. also, when you guys say shit like "she wants to be christian", "she wants to be white" "she wants to be___", its really weak. i think of it as the equivalent of "youre a doody head", it cancels out every smart thing you said earlier. someone has a different opinion to yours, so what? you attack the person? right.
  20. ^^^^please dont blame the west. its a real pet peeve of mine, its like were giving waaay too much credit to them. more than they deserve even. what somalis are so weak now they cant make up their minds? to me, this story looks like a case of teen rebellion that somehow found a way to abuse the american justice system (justice? ha) in their favor, which is unfortunate because people (somalis) wont take it seriously when a kid is accually put in a dangerous situation by their parents. it really boggles my mind how we can say that we are above certain societal problems, when within the past ten years somalia, and somalis have been victims of WAR, which included pillaging, rape, murdering of children ... i mean, it happened not too long ago in history, shouldnt that be an indicator of how imperfect we are, as humans? maybe its cause this particualr story is rubbing you guys the wrong way, but lets not forget behind this ridiculous story lies a real issue.
