^^^so guys like that? im in the same boat as sister iijabo, although i border on unassertiveness. so far, i think i give the impression to people that im ****** (mostly my parents contemporaries, i stutter when i speak somali), or incredibly weird in an anti-social way. i hate meeting new people, and i cant remember the last guy i had a crush on but yeah, it pretty much consisted of me leaving the room whenever i was in the same room as him.i dont know, for me its an incredibly frustrating character trait, you dont feel so much "feminine and coy" as some of you guys seem to think, but more like a social oddball.

im sorry, but if we have weapons like that lying around all over the country, unnecessary violence will ensue. we need to get rid of these weapons.

well the weather today is reaching -27 degrees, and thats why i think its best to give them food, preferably something warm, than money. if you give them money they might just feed their addictions with it and thats not good, but you give em some food to eat they might at least make it to tomorrow, despite themselves.

^^^what organization is this? id like to know more about it.also, i didnt really make this topic for praise, i was just putting the idea out there that instead of dropping change in beggars hands, you could always go to the nearest mcdonalds and get em some food, or at least some coffee.

^^^ geel-jire, judging by youre response im guessing youre someone who is completely settled, or is pretty much on his way, not that what you said wasnt completely correct but... i dont know how to explain it, i just recently turned 20 and it feels like im in this endless limbo of adolescense and adulthood. environment plays a part, obviously cause i guess if i were in somalia id kind of be thrust into adulthood (raising a family) but i dont think lack of faith does, otherwise we'd all be seriously contemplating suicide instead of trying to fix our situations. also an even larger worry i have is how or who is gonna take care of my parents and when can they successfully "retire". it hurts to be taken care of when at this stage it should be the other way around. i know this life is only temporary, getting as many rewards as possible is the goal but im worried how its gonna end. im worried that i may cause more struggling than is necessary, i may struggle and may not have the strength...i cant NOT worry.

i was with you up until this point, Originally posted by Xiddig: BEING TWENTY - SOMETHING One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap. asalama aleykoum, i recently (a couple of hours ago), made a lil pact with my friends and was hoping you (my cyber friends) would like to take part in it. in a typical day i pass by at least 10 beggars downtown and sometimes i honestly dont have any money to give them, other times i dont know what theyll do with the money and most times (at least id like to think so) i give em most of the change i have. well, today i devised a lil plan, to feed the homeless. ill give one homeless person i see on the street a full on meal at least twice a month, so far ive gotten 3 other friends to the same. im asking you guys to join us, and give someone a free meal (1 slice of pizza is 1$) or at least a cup of coffee or some soup in this weather. please respond if you want to take part in this "project". also, you could give em some new mittens and scarves, or old ones for that matter.

Saudi tortures rape mujahideen during interrogation
SomeAlien replied to Tony_Montana's topic in General
maybe im slow, but exactly how did this guy manage to get out? and was he a mujahideen or a reporter (i read quickly), and how/why are fighters from across the globe finding themselves in the hands of saudi government? they imprison them when going to haj? and how do governments even know or keep track of jihad fighters names and whereabouts, i mean its not like an army where you have to register right? anybody can fight. i'm not a fan of the saudi royale family but... i dont know, i never thought they were exactly "ideal" muslims and frankly i dont put any of these crimes mentioned as above them (as a government), but i just dont understand why? i need to know why before i accept this as a fact. -
Getting married this year, but where is mr-right?
SomeAlien replied to ProudSista's topic in General
im sure im giving in to some kind of freudian theory but i always thought id recognize the "right" guy by how my father would react to him and to how many of my fathers qualities hed posess. -

On the other hand, I have always wondered how come there aren’t much rape crimes in Somalia.. does this mean it don’t happen that often or girls choose not to confront the predator in fear of disgrace?? my cousin who grew up in somalia in the late 70's told me some absolute horror stories of the type of stuff she saw and heard so i pretty much have to dismiss that statement as false. most likely, judging by the way i hear somalis approach the subject, they are too ashamed [because] they might be blamed, or their word will be second guessed. on a side note, i know a girl(18) who was recently gang raped and she KNOWS the guys who did it, but is scared of what might happen to her if she goes to the police.Fear of another attack i guess is another reason.

^^^thats a lil unfair walal, how do you know they were even preaching to muslims and not to their congregation? or even if they are born christians or not? and Issa was a martyr and i think emulating him is the main point in christianity... or is it world domination? it gets confusing sometimes.

lets be honest, this disease does not only affect "the sinner", but unsuspected people they are linked to (spouses and children).those of you living in the west, was the fact that condoms were readily available really ever change your convictions and faith? and those of you whove strayed (commited zhina) was it really because condoms were available or cause there was someone willing to sin with you? were not talking about handing out condoms to school kids, but to have it available for people. (birth control can also be used inside a clean marriage as well). if you catch a man/woman commiting zhina than let them suffer the penalty, but lets be honest even shariah law cant stop EVERYBODY, only God can see/know all. what about the innocent people affected by this disease? you think there arent people who are knowingly infecting others? somalis/muslims are smart enough to know that abstinence is best for them, and not because of fear of diseases, although thats always a plus, but for the love of Allah and the quran. for the believer and the strong muslim the fact that birth control is available does not change anything, the sinner on the other hand can rarely see passed his/her nose and doesnt care about the consequences of his her actions.i think you guys are under-estimating somalis, as if they cant juggle two thoughts at the same time. if condoms are available for those commiting zhina, it stops the spread of the disease but not the wrath of Allah. somalis are smart enough to figure that out.

well bambina, the reaction at my house is alot like youre mothers, not cause sadaam is muslim, although i think its a factor, but cause we dont like what the americans are doing. at this point capturing saddaam is completely unimportant for the "rebuilding" of iraq. its only helping president bush, and will probably rally the americans behind him again which means 4 more years! most americans dont even remember what this "war" was about (WMD) and i still hear people saying he was in league with bin laden or even confuse the two of them... the fact that cnn still calls the situation in iraq "THE WAR ON IRAQ" is completely ludicrous, it was never a war, it is and was the occupation of iraq... youre getting me worked up. basically, you can hate or mistrust sadaam, but you gotta wonder what the americans (who helped saddaam gain power in the first place) are doing, and watch them carefully.

Originally posted by Qac Qaac: somalean, r u really saying, that naked women in front of men, would not do anything to the men. r u kidding me? no im saying there is a HUGE difference between thinking or wanting sex, and wanting or thinking of rape. u took an example from those small tribes in south america or some parts in africa, well sis they are ignorent ppl, that is why they naked, and i don't really see how this example applies to our topic here. you can call them ignorant, i think theyre just closed off from the rest of the world. the greatest civilisations owe their power and knowledge to other civilisations in which they interacted with and stole their ideas from right? well these guys live in controlled and tiny populated places. i think their existance is relevant for the fact alone that violent crimes are almost non-existant amongst them. i dont think THAT is ignorant. my point was there are other factors that "provoke" rape other than a womans obvious sexuality. its the societies view on women, sex and violence and i think you can connect the dots and tell me what the west says about women, violence and sexuality and link it to rape, right? it is 100% men's fautl yes, but we can't deny the fact that the women had something to do with provoking it. u know it too. u said, the attacker would rape a hijabi muslim sister yeah maybe, but we are talking about an everage, not the rare cases ok. when a man sees a hihabed woman they usually leave them alone, most of the time, coz the hijab has powers and allah protects his believing women, but go ahead and wear see through clothes, and like to get attention from men, when he approaches you, and you say no, coz he is not your type, he would think other reasons to get you, and rape could be one. right, i NEVER said anything remotely negative about the hijab, in fact i think i stated why it was important so i dont know where youre getting the idea that i dress like a slut because i dont. in fact im considering donning the proper hijab permanantly. rapists dont care what theyre victims are wearing or even what they look like (unless they are stalkers too, but that would be another topic), so long as they are vulnerable enough for an attack. a woman wearing skimpy clothing alone in the streets is more vulnerable than another hijabed woman alone in the streets, ill give you THAT much, but i still dont see where she provokes it. the rape of hijaabed women, unfortunately, isnt as "rare" as it should be in muslim countries. why? cause rapists dont care what their victims look like so long as they are vulnerable i.e young, someone you know, someone who was at the wrong place wrong time because those are all instances where the woman wont tell because of the shame of being tricked, blindsighted and raped... anyways when i start this, i didn't want to start an argument, all i wanted to do is, to tell you guys how the hijab is very important, some of u, i guess missunderstood me, and just talked out of nothing. im sorry you think that. why u sisters so defensive now adays,? no one could say his opinion around here, when it comes to women huh? figt for ur rights huh, well sisters we are not abusing u guys, so pls cut this, and for once with open heart let's exchange reasons and opinions ok. im sorry to say this, but i really think youre the one being defensive here. i didnt mean to attack you or your thoughts i simply disagreed with you and told you why, which i think is the point of this website. i really dont think this is a male bashing thread and frankly you kind of turned it into a woman bashing thing by implying i dress scantily and deserve to get raped... that was pretty awful, and i hope youll agree with me.

i hate these discussions and not because of the gender squabbles, but because everyone here talks about an ideal marriage, what you would do if/when you become a husband/wife. if you havent been married for the past 5 years, than dont talk about ideal marriages, how to keep up a marriage,or how your gonna work out your hypothetical problems cause everything you say is just fantasy and has no relevance. oooh, and fyi underdog, more women would not only gladly take on the role as care taker for their family but would openly admit it here if men , like you, would stop referring to it as all womens kind purpose to live. now i know you didnt say that verbatum but thats the attitude were getting.

Originally posted by Qac Qaac: I just wanna play, a devil's advocat here and say, let's say it is 10pm at night, there is a homeless guy who always sleeps in the park late at night, and there is this woman who is running around to be fit, with short stuff, and tight shirt, and the man let her go the first 2 nights, but the third night he couldn't take it, he wanted to get that woman, and he raped her, i know it is the man who did the act, BUT R U SAYING THAT WOMAN DIDN'T PROVOKED IT, u can't walk around half naked infornt of men, all the time and tease them like this, and expect that no one will touch you, that is why woman wear hijab, hello. men are weak, that is the reason why woman wear hijab, see men doesn't wear hijab coz the women would not rape every guy they see, they are more controlled, take any psychology class they will teach u this. allah knew this long time coz he created us, that is why he makes those kind of rules ok. allah The Just. ^^^there is so many problems in this thread, i dont know where to start. 1- the woman didnt provoke it, just like if a pedophile sees a lil kid running in his/her underwear , the child didnt provoke it. i'd understand if this hypothetical man approached the woman, or leered at her or what not, but how can a woman, however she is dressed, provoke an attack on her body without even noticing the attacker. rape generally isnt about sex, or obtaining sex, its about humiliating, and demeaning human life. 2- about not teasing men, i think the human body is only assigned taboos its society places on it. some taboos, i think, are necessary. for instance, we all know of indigenous tribes in tiny islands in south america, secluded parts in africa, and they all walk around half naked, LITERALLY. now, its a fact that crimes such as rape, pedophilia, murder, or even war crimes are extremely rare in those parts, why? for one thing, they live in societies that are obviously less populated than cosmopolitain new york, or even mogadishu. and because of their population, they live more harmonious lives, they talk with family and friends, marital unions are inevitable for everybody, therefore people arent forced into psychological frustrating lives where they live sexual fantasies, however disturbing, vicariously through porn stars and such, like they do here in the civilized west. the hypothetical rapist IS at fault, no matter how the female is dressed, because of the nature of the crime. most likely, he would have raped a woman wearing a hijab for the purpose of raping a vulnerable woman with no witnesses about to see it. youre excuse about men being weak only excuses men who proposition women for sex, not men who beat and forcefully penetrate random women they see because they saw their left thigh. 3- i may be mistaken, but hijab means protection, and men wear a hijab too. youre not supposed to walk around in public shirtless, or wear "short shorts" and such. its different, and obviously less strict, but its true. we wear the hijaab, unfortunately not to prevent rape because such things still occur TO women who do wear the hijab, but to be clean of lusful eyes (because looking is bad enough in islam),and as a uniform that externally shows are internal views. when promoting modesty with the hijab, it means to not only hide your natural endowments, but material ones as well. now back to the topic, i personally think the western media(look at a magazine cover, billboards, the internet, television, cinema, PORNOGRAPHY!!!) is to blame for western mens views of women.eminem makes a sick joke about raping his mother and somehow he makes it at the top of the billboard. makes another rhyme about letting his friends gang rape his lil sister and the public laughs and calls it his artistic license, nevermind how its shaping the thoughts and minds of young kids everywhere.i dont know when rape became a laughing matter but id sure like to see em in jail and see how funny he thinks it is than.

isnt khat haraam? its a drug/stimulant that harms you much in the same way alcohol does so why are people pretending its okay? why is it so acceptable?
