CommonSense I do! I loved readin dat although it wasn't funny, I could imagine what they were goin through (perhaps on a much smaller scale) One should think they'd be happy 2 c their country, but I wouldn't dare go there without my parents even though I would kill (not literally) to go there Insha Allah. But under those circumstances-Hell No! Without being able to inform ur family nor ur friends, dat must be terrible! It saddens me greatly when I hear of Somalis who commit crime! The reason u guys left Somalia in the first place was to escape human crime & injustice, why would any1 wanna carry on doin stupid things like dat. Although I appreciate dat mistakes can happen, we should all learn from them. One should think they'd be happy 2 c their country, but I wouldn't dare go there without my parents even though I would kill (not literally) to go there Insha Allah. May Allah
  3. Wow Nice_Guy dats what I always say walaahi! U'll neva find sum1 who's 100% but ur job is to make the person hit the top! If u have to choose between havin a man who's only 55% perfect & No man. I'm sure u would choose the 55% perfect man-I sure would! Anywayz No1 but Allah (SWT) is Perfect!
  4. I always lay on my stomach when I have period pains which is rare Alxamdulilah, I normally get it as the seasons change from So that would be approx. 4 times a year. & I'm actually on my period right at dis moment & guess what I did. I drank tea damn I never drink tea, but it actually helped my pains. What do u sisters think about Tampons? I mean most sisters I know thinks it's absurd & very unacceptable what do ya'll think? & does any1 know what women in Somalia used to use when they were menstruating?
  5. looooooool @ CommonSense I think it's more like a conversion mission dis Lucia person is on about. After all there was a Saint or sumthin like dat called Lucia. I remember from back in Denmark around Christmas (11 or 13th December) they used to celebrate her. Anyway why would they want a mother-like model? I think it's coz they have a greater probability of convertin more ppl-u c a bit like 2 flies with 1 smack! If they're sucessful the likelihood of the mother teachin her kids about her new-found religion (may Allah forbid) is great! Anywayz peace n luv from ur sis ExDane
  6. MrJibriil I believe that certain things should remain a mystery just for the fun of it & for the exitement. I believe everybody have their own personal view on dis subject matter & everybody should have an exceptable solution to this NOT so little problem. The reason why I love discussing topics is purely b'coz I love being educated, learning new facts & gettin to see things through a 'different pair of glasses'. Walaal about ur aim, damn dats enormous, huge and an un-obtainable! But I wish u all de best & 'where there's a will there's a way'. Perhaps u'll be able to add to or help bridging the gap but u'd need help & it looks like u've got it! (when u look at the many people who have replied) Sumtimes is best to hurt sum1 by tellin them what u really think instead of sayin what u'd think they (girls) would like to hear. Communication is a skill which is innate but only to a certain and very basic extend. Communication is learnt through one's environmental surrounding & have to be practiced throughout one's life. The ability to communicate is more or less equal between men and women. I think the problem with communication within the Somali community is the fact that many things are seen as inappropriate to discuss openly and somethings should never be discussed. But why is that? I would be very bored if I couldn't exercise my right to say what I wished to say! I think most of these things are the cause of ignorance & in some ways lack of knowledge. But Insha Allah in time we'll learn to overcome this! All we need is faith & the will & most importantly patience! Say what u wanna say, when u wanna say it, where u wanna say it-BUT make sure u say it with care, there is always other ways of explainin 1 thing just take a different road, but be sure dat u'll end up @ the same destination! Let me know what u think. Lots of luv ExDane ur sista

Asalaamu Calaykum Wr Wb, TAQWA: Akhi, the hadith you have quoted : Abu Bakra said when the Prophet was informed that the people of Persia (Iran) had crowned the daughter of Kisra as their ruler, he said, "No people will ever succeed if they hand their affairs to a woman.’" Sahih al-Bukhari, trans. by M.M. Khan, Kazi Publications, 1983, vol. 5, p. 508. (hadith is weak)????? cannot be a weak hadith for the simple reason it is in SAHIH (authentic) Bukhari. As for the ayah discussing the degree of supriority that men have over women, i have come across in the tafseer that some scholars say this degree is responsibility (they have the greater responsibility of taking care of the household financially) and others who say it is intelligence. For those who take the latter of the two, they take this back to the monthly period a woman she gets and how she is not in her right state of mind. Walaahu aclum. Nevertheless a place in jannah is dependant on taqwa and camal not sex. HIBA: "However, she can resume the role, head of the state, if n when the need arises." I believe the above hadith refutes that, WOMAN CANNOT BE THE HEAD OF THE STATE. , but we can contribute. Other than these reasons there are many more reasons why we woman cannot assume this role, one of which we cannot fulfill its requirements such as leading the salat for the muslimiin and lead the army in a battle. wa bilaahi tawfiiq.

  11. SISTER FROM LONDON, UK.... WHY DON'T WE ALL STOP JUDGING AND MOST OF ALL GENERALISING? ALL I SEE IS U USING THE WORD "SOMALI" AS IF A FEW MINORITIES FROM MN OR WHERE EVER ELSE YOU ARE WILL REPRESENT THE WHOLE POPPULATION OF SOMALI'S IN THE WORLD! BE WHO U ARE....LOVE WHO...U ARE...LOVE WHERE U CAME FROM...FROM A SIS WHO LOVES WHO SHE IS
  12. Ameeeeenah i like your idea, why dont you try it when you and fanky counsin going to ruwaya with jeens, try it girl, like you alwasy said anything would look great with you two.
  13. Let me intervene guys MrJibriiL is somehow right Bulo Baydan Commonsense, I dont know if you guys talking about western way of living but certainly no well-informed Somali will ever recommend women to mingle with women in eating places. We are proud [This message has been edited by JamaaL-11 (edited 04-12-2002).]
  14. yeah, i must agree, phazes are holding down for us to the fullest, somali i mean. if i am not mistaken they from Minnifabolous and i saw a poster saying album out this summer. fo'show i will look out for them.
  15. what is the big deal if girl eats in public? where in the religion does it say. i have no problem with somali culture, but in my family we all eat at one table.
  16. Well, i can say Somali restaurants cater for what we demand. We demanded Bariis and they gave us bariis. So you see? the blame is not theirs but ours, the problem is the choices we make when it comes to choosing which food we like. If we all choose PORK-xaaraam then the caterers will cook it for us, full stop. you have the choice to eat what you want to eat! There is something else that worries more than the menu. Imagine sharing a table with a Somali female whos dressed with a mini that aroses men? or a woman using the table oposite to you with her legs un-crossed? It is not a pretty picture but thats what i was warning about when I said Somali women must eat in a secluded area. Thats what our culture says and so does our religion. We respect women for what they mean to us but not for what they are not! It is a well-known fact that even our sisters/mothers do still eat seperate from male family members. It is not about men dominating women's choices but the practise carries with it a code of respect and self-preservation. All I am saying here is that our girls are expenssive when they cover their "caurah" and if they dont then they're not more than a trush, just like the white trush. So, when a brother gives you a word of advice please consider him to be on your side but not against you. [This message has been edited by MrJibriiL (edited 04-12-2002).]
  17. As-Salamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All thanks and praise are due to Allah and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Dear Brother, I would like to express my deep thanks and overwhelming sense of gratitude to you for this great confidence you place in and implore Almighty Allah to enable us meet these expectations and fulfill our task towards the whole Muslim Ummah. I agree that "it's dangerous to to talk about islam from opinions" but the topic that was posted in here was on if Islam is really a religion of peace? my brother without any khilafah in between us how would you expaint it if someone asked you about it?would you tell him to find out on his own? The only think i did is talk on behalf of Islam I expained my knowledge on behalf of my religion. And if you found me wrongI wrong Brother mey Allh Subhanahu wata aala for give all our since and missunderstandings. - As a muslim Qilafah is not good and what is taking us the muslim world apart is the qilafah so my muslim brother please don't ask aquastion that answers it's self. Wa `Alaykum As-Salam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. -Abbas
  18. ExDane first and foremost welcome to Somalia Online forums. I am happy to see you heer discussiong and enquiring about matters that concern both Somali male/female population. Secondly, you are absolutely correct to say that this issue has been discussed over and over again, but the fact is that it hasn't been solved yet. It is u and me to find an exceptable solution that can over-come this little problem we seem to have between us. I am not quite sure what rekindles your passion of discussing topics but i'd like to assure you that I PERSONALLY posted this topic with one aim in mind. The aim was and still is to gap the bridge of communication between both sexes. Although i quite explicitly and with anger described Somali girls as dumb, but those opening remarks of mine weren't intentional at all. Now, let get down to the matter in hand shall we?
  19. they wicked walaahi, they got nice flows to go with it too...nice voice...can someone fill me in about where they from?
  20. MMA: why r u in every discussion...some of them belong to ladies only...so bax! Ammenah.. hhmmm I don't know about that but I will certainly try it.. n see how I like it... I wil get back to u on that... Taqwa: don't worry...what ever we come up with, won't be disaapointment... Buubto: U know actually I was thinking about a way, that we can wear our guntiino, without having to go through all the hassles...u know, wareejis, than dhuujis, than xerxeritaan, coz many ppl don't know how to do it...I was thinking merely about, fixing that guntiino problem... N yes we should redesign the aqwaan/or religious clothes coz walaahi its not funny, how they pick up all dirt....so lets put our heads together n work it out....coz they said, " two heads r better than one". ------------------ Each one of us is a masterpiece in progress

Salaamu caleykum bro, Well I am real appreciative you took the time out to defend your thoughts on the issue. What we were really debating on was the fact that a woman can't be in government. Well, there are indeed alot of arguments I was all geared up to present to you, but since u have somewhat agreed on the fact that she can be in government and she can take part in political decisions, than I shall rest my case. My thoughts weren't about head of nation rather political role.... Woman is entitled to freedom of expression as much as man is. Her sound opinions are taken into consideration and cannot be disregarded just because she belongs to the female sex. It is reported in the Quran and throughout history that women not only expressed their opinion freely but also argued and participated in serious discussions with the Prophet himself as well as with other Muslim leaders. The rights and responsibilities of a woman are equal to those of a man but they r not necessarily identical with them. This difference is understandable because man and woman are different in their physiology and psychological make up. Woman maynot be the head of a constitution but she has a vital role to play. However, she can resume the role, head of the state, if n when the need arises. Once again thnx for taking the time to clarify things out.... ------------------ Each one of us is a masterpiece in progress
