  3. Dixon, Etobicoke, is a place where the majority that reside there are Somalis. It is a safe, clean, and maybe a lil somali village. Its a community in its own right. I think Dixon is the perfect place for the elderly. My grandma lives there, and its very convinient place to meet and conversate with her peers. It's not a lonely place to be at for most.

  7. I think both are in the business of making alot of $$$$$, as most artists. Talent wise, I think Nas is da man. Jay-Z is good at making hot beats, perfect for the summer time. However, I do have a concern. I heard that Nas dissed Somali ladies in one of his earlier tracks....is dat true? if so...can yall refer me to what track it was? Y'all should discover concious hip-hop.....like my fav. Mosdef, or Talib Kweli....list goes on and on. Peace out ------------------ "My Umi says shine your light on the world..." Mos Def

See I'ma teach Pretty young thing a lil' about about the diffrence between Rappers & hiphop.Hon, when you hear Rapper, that would be JayZ and P.diddy, and all them facy jewerly rappers. And when you hear of hip hop, Is nas mos def, talib kweli, they describe how life is and what really the blackman priorities should be like..I mean basically they got something that is sense making to tell. As for the rappars, just bullshitin, about how rich they are, how much money they got, what they own. Hope that help you out a little, Holla back at me. for any q's. Vote for Nas... 21. I think it's lack of communication & understandin between the 2 people as well as lack of mutual respect & love! I believe Marriage is a big step & dat u've to talk about & discuss everythin before u finally 'tie the knot'

    Women

What a wonderful topic! Less than a fortnight ago I was arguing/discussing this same topic. I've always believed dat women are and could be great leaders if they were given the opportunity. Although I don't think it would be good for a Muslim woman with a family Refering to the quote Taqwa provided us with; "No people will ever succeed if they hand their affairs to a woman.’" This to me seems absolutely unbelievable! Women are supposed to be the head of the house when their husband &/or father are away to provide an income or are away on Holy War. & what about the fact that women do most of the child rearing single-handed, does de above quote indicate dat women are doin an awful job? I agree with Hibo's & Taqwa's points of view! I also agree to a certain extend in with Rahiima_as-Somaali had to say, especially her last phrase. I'm glad I'm a woman dats what Allah (SWT) wanted me to be & dat what He made me! But I still am a firm believer of freedom to speak, as 1 of u said many female Muslims have had a major impact on dicisions made by Islamic Rulers. I believe that a woman could be in Parliment but I also believe that the voice of a woman should be lowered, I don't believe it should be blasted of in Rally's or campaigns for a certain Political party or the likes. If a woman could be part of the Government I think her voice should be discret, ideally everythin she believes in should be written down on a piece of paper so ppl wouldn't be able to hear her beautiful voice. Just a thought! Luv ExDane-I might be feminist at times but hey when ur a Somali and an educated woman u haven't got much choice-However I still love my Somali brothers!
  23. Hello!!! Are we forgetting the ancestors of present day African Americans???? Yes you will see people looking like folks who are of Fulani origins, or Sudanese..or even Somalian. P.Diddly Didiyow....doesn't resemble a Somali, to me anyway. But yeah, that Shawn from BoyzIIMen, who I had a crush on for God knows how long does look like a somali. But I believe one of his parents is African....maybe Ethiopian? Cuz He's Jewish..(His wedding was featured on T.V.) ------------------ "My Umi says shine your light on the world..." Mos Def
