Actually, Barwaqo is right there are some circumstances where obortion is permitted in Islaam, I definately know that you can abort if the child is endagering the mothers life. I think, a conception after a rape can also be aborted.... I don't have any hardcore evidence on me now .... i'll look it up though. where is Lady Fatima ... we need some fatawas girl... where you at?

Yo everybody he came to Sheffield on the 20th April & I went down to see him. Actually the reason why he was here was 2 help raise money for schools in Somaliland, the programme was set up by a charity called Halt headed by Somali peepz in Sheffield (I think) & the odd white man. Although the show was rather borin but it was for a good cause & he was there-He was de highlight of it all!

Araweelo sis …The only lady who can stick by her husband today is a lady well versed with Diin and knows rights from wrongs and very much willing keep her man despite his follies. The Majority will take the easy way out and that is to give him what has famously come to be known as the "BAAC MADOOW" treatment. If I remember correctly, men back home in Africa used to treat their women with kindness and ofcouse didn’t ask for anything other than womanly duties. Today a simple argument raises hell.....a few months ago there was this woman who arrested her husband proclaiming that he beat her and that she didn’t want anything to do with him. The man was arrested for battery (no marks ofcouse) n no hand was raised against her. She basically was pissed of with him b'se they had a silly argument. She later admitted that she had made a mistake and that she wanted her husband to be released and back with her. She had to write more than ten letters explaining her mistakes to the police. After a whole week in jail the man was released and he never went back. The woman made a loving husband take off for his life. ------------------ ("`-''-/").___..--''"`-._ `6_ 6 ) `-. Y'all sound smart women, so why all this drama???? Lulla, I am assuming that you're just inquiring in to this matter, hypothetically here is what I'll do if it ever happens to me (got for bid ). As soon as you are raped or anyone you know gets raped go to the hospital or nearest clinic and ask for the emergency birth control or what's known as "the morning after pill". This pill is effective the 1st 24-30hrs after unprotected sexual intercourse occurs. When you take this precaution, your chances of conceiving are very low and maybe got willing you dont have to make the agonizing decision of getting abortion. Getting abortion is hard emotionally, some people never recover the loss, never-the-less I would do it in a heartbeat if I find myself in that kind of situation (hopefully none of use will god willing). I hope that helps. peace

I know it is such a shameful thing to see our own children suffer this way and seek refuge in worshiping places, but it hurts to hear stories of Somali family is in this kind of a situation. God helps us

Gayle Ann, Don't beleive everything you hear. Most refugees, just like poor American families have learned the easiest way to get housing is through shelters. The INS is not doing its job of making responsible those who sponsors families to come here in the first place. Somalis are very clanish people who would die for their clan. This notion of a family of 9 or 8 not having realtives in Ohio is b.s.

but with in the first couple of months the vetus didn't become a baby yet and doesn't have soul, so i don't think it abortion at that time......but if it has soul than i guess is different matter ------------------ "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" --Eleanor Roosevelt [This message has been edited by Indhadeeq (edited 04-22-2002).]

Don't you know, most Somalis probably were born in Badiyo so there's no way of them knowing exactly their true age. lol. Anyway, I think they got issues. Why lie about age? am also curious. ------------------ "The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. What I dont' understand is how can you despise an innocent child? Life is bigger than us, if that baby was meant to be born, I dont' think we have the right to take the life of an innocent unborn baby away. I think its cruel and inhumane. I mean, if you review the techniques they use to kill the babies, that's enuff to make u sick.

1stly, aamin to buubto's duaah. Barwaaqo: girl in Islam its haraam to get an abortion. That part I know. Laakin, to present you the proof?? Am not a scholar and I don't want to mislead to you. My suggestion to you, please go speak to your local scholar(s). Iam sure they'll present the necessarry proof to you. That said, let me go answer Lulla's q: No, I would never abort my baby with a conscious mind. My life is guided by Islaam, and as a muslim I wouldnt' do that. Secondly, I believe the only time abortion is allowed is when there's a danger present to the mother's life. Again, you can double check that with the scholars. I hope I was of some help. Peace n' Blessings. ------------------ "The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. AIDS/HIV and Coconut Oil Can coconut oil reduce the viral load of HIV-AIDS patients? Initial trials have confirmed that coconut oil has an anti-viral effect that reduces the viral level in HIV-AIDS patients to undetectable levels, University of the Philippines' Emeritus professor of pharmocology Dr. Conrato S Dayrit said. A minimum of 50 ml of coconut oil would contain 20 to 25 grams of lauric acid, which indicates that the oil is metabolized in the body to release monolaurin which is an antibiotic and an antiviral agent. Among the saturated fatty acids, lauric acid has the maximum antiviral activity, he said. Based on this research, the first clinical trial using monolaurin as monotherapy on some of the HIV patients was conducted recently. Fifteen patients were given nearly 50 ml of coconut oil for a period of six months. By the end of the first three months of trials viral levels of seven patients had gone down and by the sixth month viral counts in the others had gone down substantially, he said. These patients originally had viral levels ranging between 1960 to 1,190,000. ------------------ ("`-''-/").___..--''"`-._ `6_ 6 ) `-. I like to think that wat each partner brings to the marriage is different, yet of equal value. Of course, there r times when one half of the equation shoulders more of the work, eg: the guy working 12 hrs a day, every day or the woman looking after all 4 children, cooking and cleaning all on her own. This can be very difficult 4 both of them....and more times than not, this is wat leads to marriages failing. I believe if things were shared, if there was mutual respect and love, if there was consideration, space and privacy on both sides, then a very good marriage could be built. I think I've gone off the topic....damn, I can't even remember wat the question was. I better stop nattering...lol .

I am looking for Somali to Somali Dictionary
Hibo replied to Hibo's topic in Developement | Projects
Jamaal There is a whole shelf of books about Somalia (including dictionaries) at SOAS....School of Oriental and African Studies. They won't let u borrow it, but if u go there wit some sort of NUS ID or any other ID wit a pic, u can use their facilities to photocopy wateva u want. I would also recommend all the big libraries....especially Stratford Public Library. SOAS is located at Russell Square, NW1 between Euston and Holborn underground stations. Hope I've helped! -
