Hence why we seen in 2005 Parliamentary elections some candidates who were originally from Oodweyne but were actually chosen in Hargeysa & Burco regions. There is no actual census. The estimations are between 15-20 thousand residents in the town. And 50-60k overall for the region. However in the Somaliland national referendum 2001 atleast 57,166 have voted in this region. And that was 10 years ago.

This is a new governor that was named last year. So far under his rule in the region less than a year. Oodweyne General Hospital has been reopened after a longtime, Oodweyne TB Hospital also has been opened. He made sure the drought aid from the sland admin reached the most vulnerable people directly and no masmasuq(corruption). He made sure the police, military of the region are paid. So many things that i can't recall now.

It was the governor of the region that organised it when he came from a trip to Burco after him and the locals heard Yool making serious against the people of that area. And not just anybody. Secondly by the way thousands of residents live in the town, over hundred or so prostestors attending it doesn't mean everybody in the town had the time to attend it nor attended it.
