The Hermet;781301 wrote: Somalia: Militia kills Puntland MP in Bargal 28 Jan 28, 2012 - 12:27:22 AM BOSSASO, Somalia Jan 28, 2012 (Garowe Online) -- A group of militiamen opened fire on a car transporting a Puntland member of parliament on Friday, instantly killing the lawmaker, Radio Garowe reports. Bile Mohamed Yusuf was a Puntland MP from Bari region. He travelled from Puntland’s commercial port city of Bossaso Friday morning en route to Bargal, around 250km east of Bossaso along the Indian Ocean coast. MP Bile was travelling with his son and three other men in a Toyota truck. Reliable sources told Garowe Online that the lawmaker’s truck was ambushed at a gorge located between Tageer village and Bargal town. A group of around 20 militiamen opened fire, instantly killing the lawmaker, said a Puntland government official. Local elder Ahmed Salad Abdirahman led a group of elders to the scene of the crime to pick up the MP’s body, sources added. MP Bile’s son and the three others were safe but with some injuries. The group of attacking militiamen had fled the scene. Local sources report that the group of killers was led by a man named “Hared” who reportedly works a militia commander for “Ras Aseyrland” – a self-declared mini-state that is not recognized by the Puntland government. It was the first attack of killing a Puntland government official in Bargal town, apparently by militia working under the orders of "Ras Aseyrland" mini-state. Puntland officials have not yet spoken about Friday’s killing, but government sources said Puntland security forces were preparing to deploy to Bargal and hunt down the killers. GAROWE ONLINE AUN.
