Wadani You are right bro. I meant Taleex was bombed in Feb3- 4 1920.

The first place to be bombed was Midhisho, Sanaag not Taleex. Midhisho fort was bombed in Januray 21 1920, 5 days later Taleex was bombed in 26 Januray 1921. It is only my Fa-Gash habar wadaags that try to temper with history kk.

Somalia London ‘Business’ Conference: “Not in our name”, says the UK Somaliland Diaspora Written by UK Somaliland Diaspora Dec 07, 2012 at 11:16 AM Somaliland Society UK PRESS RELEASE Somalia London ‘Business' Conference: "Not in our name", says the UK Somaliland Diaspora It has come to our notice that a conference titled "Somalia Open for Business" is being held at a London hotel on 10 December 2012 and has been advertised at the website of a group called "World G18 Somalia". Of course anyone is free to hold whatever meetings, conferences they so desire, but what is a matter of concern to us are attempts to include the Republic of Somaliland in the agenda of the conference without any involvement or agreement of the representatives of Somaliland. We also deprecate any suggestions or impressions of the involvement of the large British Somaliland community groups in either the planning or the support of this conference. As the main umbrella group for the UK Diaspora groups, we state categorically that neither we, nor any other main Somaliland Diaspora group had any involvement in this Conference and would, in any case, not endorse any such conference as we believe that it has no specific relevance to the Republic of Somaliland. There are many other local and national Somaliland development projects, such as the Somaliland Development Fund, as well as business/investment promotion initiatives in which our Somaliland community is involved. Other communities can do the same for their country. What we cannot accept though is the co-option of our community's name and the Republic of Somaliland into conferences and events that have nothing to do with us. The UK Somaliland community is the oldest and largest Somali community in the UK and everyone knows who we are and where we can be contacted. The IFC/World bank sponsored "Doing Business" Project has recently issued a report on Somaliland titled "Doing Business in Hargeisa" (the capital of Somaliland) which confirms that Somaliland has been, for decades, open for business. We urge anyone who is interested in doing business in Somaliland to contact the relevant Somaliland Representatives (see list below) and we, the UK Somaliland Diaspora are eager to assist in any way we can. Many of our Diaspora members are investors in Somaliland and can share experience and knowledge. The UK Somaliland Chamber of Commerce

Voting begins in a crucial election in Somaliland Somaliland municipal elections has started nationwide on early hours of Wednesday for the second time since democracy was restored in 2002. More than 1,700 polling centres will be open for more than a million eligible voters by the end of the day. Seen by many as a crucial test of democracy troubled region, it will take place in 21 districts in six regions across the Horn of Africa nation. The race for dominance is also between two political parties and five newly-formed political associations. All seven will need to ensure their organisation finishes at the top three in order to qualify for the next presidential and parliamentary elections. Under Somaliland constitution, only the three with the most vote become official political parties for the next decade. After ten years, the process starts all over again giving newcomers the opportunity to have their voice heard in Somaliland’s unique democratic arena. President Silanyo and his cabinet cast their votes in Somaliland’s historical municipal elections Here in the capital voting started around 7 a.m. in most of the 404 polling stations including Ga’an Libah, where President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo cast his vote. He was joined by first lady Amina Sheikh Mohamed Jirde and members of his cabinet including minister of presidency, interior, minister of finance and members of the ruling Kulmiye Party. The president expressed a sense of opportunism and congratulated the people of Somaliland for their commitment to democracy and stability. He urged everyone to vote peacefully and respect the electoral officials, volunteers, observers and the outcome of the result. An international observation team of 56 from 15 countries is on the ground monitoring the elections. They see this as a crucial step in the democratization of the whole Horn of Africa region. Two teams from Puntland and Mogadishu are also there to observe and discover their neighbour’s voting system. The polls close 6 p.m. and results might not be known until the weekend. This is the 6th time Somaliland has held a peaceful elections since 2002 when it established multiparty system. It is the only country in the greater Horn of Africa to hold that many and foreign observers described the 2005 parliamentary vote as: “The freest and most transparent democratic exercises ever staged in the Horn of Africa.” Somaliland declared the restoration of its sovereignty in 1991 following a bloody war with neighbouring Somalia. Somaliland: Mahiga’s Slanderous Address a Serious Diplomatic Gaff The President of the Republic H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamoud has not taken lightly hence been irked by UNPOS chief’s addressee slander such that he has vowed to review whether continued UNPO’s presence in the country is justified. According to local media reports monitored by Somaliland.org, UN secretary’s representative to Somalia, Tanzania’s Augustine Mahiga dealt diplomatic etiquettes a serious blow by demeaning the personal integrity of the Presidency, SL’s national stature and seriously hurting the aspirations of the country. Envoy Mahiga addressed the country’s Head of State as the “President of the Somaliland Region of Somalia” reportedly in a letter earlier in the month. In what the reports described as “a letter written with high prolificasy”, H.E. President Ahmed Silanyo retorted to Mr. Mahiga terming his addressee gaff as one filled with “slander, misdemeanor and did not augur well for, hence contradicting, to the regional security”. The President’s letter of 20th November 2012 is reportedly in reply of Mahiga’s undiplomatic 7th November 2012 one informing the former of the pending arrival of top-shots UN delegation charged with evaluating system-wide operation of the body in the country. The President reminded the envoy of the country’s aspiration as per factual history testate, the fact that it was a defacto country and similar issues appertained; all of course well known to Mahiga. He noted that in contradiction to previous Mahiga efforts on stability and security affairs of the region, the envoy side stepped his officialdom by making rude of the February international conference on Somalia that called for dialogue between SL/Somalia; practically and technically as two separate entities. The President pointed out well that as the Head of State of the country, the nation and government takes offence of the besmirching Mahiga wording hence “vows to re-evaluate the relevance of UNPOs office as per the country’s interests’. Sunday, 25 November 2012 04:18 Your insuniationsat are ridicolous President Silanyo tells Amb Mahiga. President Silanyo Rebukes UN/AU Representative on Usage of Improper Language "Mr Mahiga Your insinuations that I am the president of an administrative region of Somalia are not only disgusting & detestable but undignified because my motherland of Somaliland is an independent country" Hon president Silanyo tells Amb Mahiga. By: Yusuf M Hasan HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The government is reviewing relationships with the UN Political Office Somalia-UNPOS This is per a letter written to the UN/AU Special representative to Somali Ambassador Augustine Mahiga, by the president of Somaliland H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo on 20th November 2012. The head of state was replying to a letter from Amb Mahiga dated 7th November in which the UN diplomatic addressed Hon Ahmed M Silanyo as the president of an administrative region of Somalia. According to Geeska Afrika newspaper whose editor is confident to the contents of the two letters, a presumably fuming Dr Silanyo mince no words with the UN diplomat's tone of language which he termed as geared towards undermining the sovereignty of Somaliland thus disgusting and unworthy of an officer with responsibilities as currently under Mahiga. In his letter The Head informed the UN diplomat of Tanzanian origin that "In view of your uncouth language directed towards citizens of this country (Somaliland) my administration is reviewing prevalent relationships with your agency, UNPOS, with an aim of termination.Due to the un-ambassadorial language of the August Mahiga who lives and works in Mogadishu under tight 24/7 guard mounted by AMISOM, the purpose of the letter which pertaining to the arrival of a high level UN delegation was never addressed. The apparently angered president who told the August Mahiga that his choice of words were not only abhorrent but disgusting as they were discerned to insinuate that Somaliland was an administrative region of Somalia, while it was an independent country as he (Mahiga) was acutely aware further gave the Tanzanian diplomat a lecture on Somaliland's history."on behalf of citizens of this country I hereby like to correct a number of erroneous insinuations made in your letter as pertains to the being of Somaliland, as discerned by your address to my office terming the office of the president of the northern administrative region of Somalia" "My government duly elected by the people views your address to me as an affront to this country while also informing that the continued benefits of cooperation with your UNPOS agency is now suspect thus under review with a view to terminating ongoing cooperation "I further wish to inform you that your inference to my country as a region of Somalia is tantamount to igniting fires that might infringe negatively on prevalent peace in the horn of Africa"" To put you back in the proper frame of the picture, Amb Mahiga be reminded that Somaliland, though yet to be recognized, is an independent country, as per the wishes of 97% of the population who voted for separation following it had won reclamation of independence from Somalia that ensued through loss of life, property and livelihoods" wrote Silanyo Since receiving the letter August Mahiga must be spending sleepless nights in his Mogadishu fortress having not expected such blunt words as he is used to roughshod over the leadership in Mogadishu past and current, where he Mahiga is the real president clothed in ambassadorial garbs. The shock is further exacerbated by the fact that the Somaliland head of state is known to have defended Augustine Mahiga on several occasions upon attack by local politicians who have accused him and his office of orchestrating the demise of Somaliland. As the president so succinctly told the Ambassador, "Not a single world leader has ever addressed the country in the terms he, the ambassador used, which if they were to remain unchecked might also intrude on the proper conduct of talks between the two neighbouring countries as per the dictates of the London and Istanbul II conferences on Somalia.
