  1. ^ Uu sheeg, Ibtisam should know the few there are only guests who can be sent packing like the Oromo refugees anytime the people of Somaliland want.
  2. Hawdian Yh true. So the Halimos who think they can bring Bengali, Nigerian, Jamaican kids born to them to the motherland think again.
  3. Tallaabo That is the western perspective they place too much importance on the ethnicity of the mother side hence categorizing people as "mixed" they even categorize people with different grandmothers of different ethnicity as "mixed" in order to try to confuse people and make them identity less .In Somali society though if your father is Somali you're Somali, clan rules everything. Take for example the Swedish MP Amir Adan of Somaliland origin, his mother is Swedish and his father is a Somalilander. He considers himself a Somalilander and advocates for Somaliland openly, he also visited Somaliland many times along with his sister. Somali society places importance in the father lineage not mother lineage, so if your father is Somali you're considered a ethnic Somali. His sister at May 18 at the back. Somali society is similar to Arab society, you're what your father is, it doesn't matter what ethnicity your mother is. The king of Jordan's mother is English and his father is Arab, he is considered as an Arab and the king of Jordan. A Oromo kid or other foreign kids born to a Somali woman will never be a Somali. Being Somali means having a Somali father (clan/abtirsi).
  4. Why are people comparing apples and oranges. Somali men marrying non Somali women is different because the children will still be Somali by ethnicity. They will have Somali citizen-ships, Were's kids born to Somali women and foreign fathers will not be accepted in Somali society. So let's look things in a Somali society's perspective rather than western perspective.
  5. I think those women should stay where they are. Kenya is known to have high rates of HIV. You don't want the locals infected do you?
  6. Are they a different sect than Sufis?
  7. Anigu kuma niciin even though you're very pro united former Somali republic(Somaliland and Somalia).
  8. Kids stay on topic, you don't have to try and impress anyone online.
  9. Guleed All folks who are suffering from jungle fever can stay in Somalia across the border. If you love Somalia so much move to Mogadishu or other areas in south Somalia just don't come running, crying and kissing the floor like professor Samatar to the nation of Somaliland .
  10. "Forum: Politics World Politics, Somali Politics, Current Issues" It is clear this forum is not only designed for people from Somalia, otherwise they would just stick to Somalia politics but they discuss Somaliland, Djibouti and Ethiopia and other countries. So we have to be here to keep them in line sometimes.
  11. Safferz Is from Ethiopia, while I am from Somaliland. If folks from Ethiopia like Mad Mullah here love to be with Somalia that is them , they shouldn't try to project their weird fetish for south Somalia on others though.
  12. There is many other statements where he mentioned Somaliland openly, even westerners correct others and say he is from Somaliland a peaceful place neighboring Somalia. I have chatted to him in private message in a social website before back in 2009 and 2010 he told me everything how his proud of his country (Somaliland) , so don't tell me I am trying to read his thoughts Lol because that is exactly what he told me unless you are saying his a lying flip flopper. Yes I am Somali but not from Somalia. Just like a Somali from Djibouti. We're in a modern age, many westerners know the difference between Somaliland and Somalia. We have successfully established a known identity, during the UK census me and my Somalilander friend we put the census on when asked where you are from originally or the nationality you associate with we put on "Somalilander". Unfortunately I have no control of how southerners behave and their terrorism, yes they drag down the Somali name in mud, but we and the Djiboutians make it a little better.
  13. Safferz;982553 wrote: That's the speculation I'm talking about. Did he personally tell you about how Somalia has a bad rep and he doesn't want to be associated with it? Does that not contradict everything we know about him as a public figure in the Somali community, one who is active on Somali issues? I was going to link you to two recent events that come to mind, the Somalia conference and the UK remittances issue, when I came across a statement he made: “I welcome the international support being given to build on the momentum of progress in Somalia, the country of my birth . Unfortunately we are now just one week away from a new humanitarian catastrophe in the country. Remittances have played a crucial role for my family and the Mo Farah Foundation and their sudden cessation will have serious and avoidable consequences, bringing increased hardship, insecurity and instability to the Somali people." C'mon now, Saalax. He doesn't have to tell me, we see it in the picture and statement clear and cut. Just because he likes to help other Somalis does not mean he wants his name linked to violent places like Mogadishu. Yes he did say that statement in the past, hence why I said "perhaps he doesn't want to be associated with Mogadishu even if it might be his birth place hence explains the withdrawal". One can change their mind and this new statement in his book proofs it. This is his current stance.
  14. By the way I know people whose western passport only says born in Somaliland..
  15. Hawdian;982542 wrote: No He was born in the somali republic A union of two states but he is british of somaliland origin . True like Cigaal once said "I was never a citizen of Somalia".
  16. How am I speculating when you can clearly see it with your eyes "Me and Hassan in front of the flag of Somaliland, the country of our birth". Meelkasta Saalax baad ku aragta, cajiib. Mo is proud of his country of origin(Somaliland) and sees association with unstable Somalia as a bad rep, that is the fact we see here, it is the choice he made. You don't have to look for scapegoats and try to blindfold yourself .
  17. Safferz;982544 wrote: So his actual birthplace was Somalia. The ordinary people who don't know his family don't know if he was actually born there or it just fake birth place. Perhaps he doesn't want to be associated with Mogadishu even if it might be his birth place hence explains the withdrawal.
  18. If he wanted to see say Somalia he could have said Somalia. He doesn't want negative association with Somalia, so it makes sense he mentions his country of origin instead (Somaliland).
  19. His close relatives say his actual birth place is Gabiley, Somaliland while his fake birth place is Mogadishu, Somalia.
  20. No mention of Somalia interesting. "Me and Hassan in front of the flag of Somaliland, the country of our birth".
  21. Hawdian You created this topic to discuss the reality back home, so no time for sugarcoating. Sometimes when I see videos of Mogadishu it is just looks like somewhere in the Congo rainforest. Shifting demographics in favor of non ethnic Somalis should be addressed as well, no?
  22. In Somaliland yes. Not sure about south Somalia though because of Al shabab radicalization and Turkish colonization along with Uganda and Burundi, the situation of the Somali language might be very different there.
  23. Somali language should be promoted more unless one wants to end up like Djibooty. When I went there and saw all those French signs everywhere and Arabic and no single Somali language at all I thought it is still under colonization.
