  1. Good. Southern movement to Somaliland should be limited.
  2. Saturday, November 30, 2013 Mogadishu - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia, Nicholas Kay, has expressed his deep concern at the recent outbreak of violence in the northern region of Sool. "Violence cannot and will not resolve political issues. All those with a stake in the area must show calm and pursue reconciliation," said SRSG Kay. SRSG Kay deplored the loss of life and offered his condolences to the families of those killed in recent clashes. "Political differences and competing claims should be solved by dialogue. Peace and stability are also critical to the Puntland election process", he added. SRSG Kay and UNSOM colleagues are in touch with regional leaders to urge restraint and offer support for dialogue and reconciliation. http://www.hiiraan.com/news4/2013/Nov/52282/un_special_representative_for_somalia_appeals_for_calm_in_sool.aspx
  3. That is what I used to do but I got distracted and couldn't exercise when I come from work to home. Going to the gym gives me something to look forward to rather than doing it in my room Lol. 1 year membership for not much £, so it didn't cost me much either.
  4. I have recently joined a gym, we will see in 6 months time results .

  13. Arabs might be lazy but they are in a better position than Somalis. Lost to Ethiopia in 1977 and their so called "shifta uprising" was crashed by Kenya.
  14. ^ A bit too late for that. This latest article also claims the same thing we all know the government down south hasn't been able to receive direct EU funds.
  15. It is HAG led gov who are crying here in the article of not receiving "aid" .
  16. Somalia and EU Fight over 'Lack of Aid' Claims EXCLUSIVE: Somalia deputy PM Fawzia Yusuf Adam 'we get nothing' claim angers EU commissioner. A diplomatic spat has erupted in Brussels between a high Somali official and the EU commissioner for development over the level of foreign aid given to the wartorn African country. Fawzia Yusuf Adam, Somalia's minister of foreign affairs and deputy PM, said that her country had received "nothing from the European Union - only promises". EU commissioner for development Andris Piebalgs reacted immediately and told IBTimes UK exclusively: "I'm very upset she said that - it's absolutely false. "The political process starting in Somalia is not only because of political abilities but investment in different parts of Somalia which brings people to support the federal government," he said during a private meeting at the European Development Days in Brussels. "We have a substantial development project in parts of Somalia. We disburse nearly €50m and the biggest parts goes to areas such as Somaliland, Puntland, in education, rural development, healthcare, access to water. Lots of money being invested. "She's right we don't channel any money to federal government but that's because in order to use that you need public finance management and an accountability system and today that's not the case," he went on. "I pledged to work with the government as close as a I can and I will honour it. We bring very substantial support to Somalia, although we don't channel any money through the government." The European Commission provides development aid in Somalia under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF). The total allocation for Somalia for the 2008-13 period is €521m. The EU support supports Amisom (the African Union Mission in Somalia), which aims to create the conditions for peace and stability, and has channelled €594m into it. Adam said that Somalia had been pledged €1.8bn in a conference in September but claimed "so far, we have received nothing". "We ask European countries to honour their pledge," she said. "We are looking forward to see that [for it to be] realised for development reconstruction and security. "During the previous transitional government, €200m was pledged in 2010 but we never received it. We want friends to honour their pledge so that we can build our country." http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/525573/20131127/somalia-eu-aid-piebalgs-fawzia-yusuf-adam.htm
  17. Even if you include Puntland. HAG and the May May groups + Bantus make up the majority in former Italian Somalia. Somalilanders don't have much in common with those groups whether it is culture or language. Do you think I can understand may may or even several other southern accents. When one goes beyond Mudug and Galgadud you enter farmer territory.
  18. Haatu Wrong. Majority of southerners are farmers not nomadics. May May and Bantu groups heavily concentrated in the riverine areas, Bay and Bakool, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Middle Jubba, Lower Jubba and parts of Hiiraan make up at least 25% of Somalia. Large parts of HAG such as the Unuka also practise agriculture, so it is false to say majority of southerners practise nomadism. If majority of Bay and Bakool groups who hold 61 mps , majority of 0.5 groups such as Bantus and majority of HAG groups who hold 61 mps in the Somalia parliament are farmers in their lands . That shows majority of southerners are indeed farmers not nomads. Only the DAG are mostly nomads in south Somalia.
  19. Somaliland and Somalia also have distinct culture and cuisines. Niiko, dhisow, walaqo, cambuulo, muufo etc is unknown in Somaliland.

    Somali Bantu

I think it is inaccurate to say the Bantus are originally from the south when they themselves admit they were stolen from their families in Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique just 200 years ago. However there could be a tiny percentage of Bantus that lived there longer than other Bantus. Anyway what I find interesting is the reer Xamar cad cad of Benadir who also more recently came from Oman and Yemeni 400-300 years ago are not told to go back home only the Bantus.

    Somali Bantu

Ethnic minorities face discrimination in Somali areas, that is not false is it. Just don't look beyond what is happening Middle Shabelle (a place with high Bantu population), they are being attacked by other groups with finances from Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
