  1. Isn't there like over 16000 AMISOM soldiers there? I think it is just a lip service to try and stop Al shabab attacks.
  2. Protecting your resources from thirsty Siilaanyo is not hooliganism.
  3. I don't think anybody claimed Somaliland is 100% perfect but it is sure better than Somalia.
  4. Where is MM stop using clan names in this site it is against the golden rule of the forum. What is wrong with this new kids on the block.
  5. Somaliland:Berbera Residents Demonstrate Against Government Decision to Award Fishing Facility to Its Cronies By Goth Mohamed Goth Residents of the port city of Berbera have today came out in their thousands today to protest the awarding of the public owned NAG Fish cooling facilities to the family of a prominent businessman who has close links to the ruling elite. The local administration is said to have since last night worked tireless in a bid to block the today’s demonstrations but their efforts proved futile when thousands of resident turned up in support of the local fishermen who use the cooling facilities. Reliable told Tensions were still running high at the time of our reporting with dozens of residents arrested for taking part in the demonstration today amid the heavy police presence. One resident told us that the current government has a tendency of awarding its cronies with public owned property and that is unacceptable. 6. Black is just a colour it doesn't determine your ethnicity at least in Africa.
  7. South Sudan is a country of different ethnic groups not just tribes. Dinka and Nuer rivalry goes way back to when the British were in Sudan.
  8. The mayor is elected, however the regional governor is not elected. The mayor has no power over the police chief because the police chief is a regional police and not a city police.
  9. What evidence do you have other than rumors? Check the news it is RRU (Response Resistance Unit) that shot them, a couple of police and civilians were wounded by those bullets. So don't claim something as absurd as western Burco civilians shot them when the protestors were clearly unarmed as seen in the video. It is Siilaanyo that is responsible for it because the RRU comes under the government and secondly he knew trying to shift the balances in favor of his sub group will create tensions.
  10. Latest news the police officer has refused to be transfered to Zeylac in defiance, he said he is not going anywhere and will stay in Burco and doesn't want to hold any position in Siilaanyo's government anymore.
  11. burahadeer Don't blindly defend the atrocities of the Siilaanyo government, they killed their own people. Live bullets should never be used against protestors. Remember the Xaqsoor incident in Hargeisa? This seems to be a reoccurring problem.
  12. Mustafe;992206 wrote: And you don't think if he has secret plans and the locals are opposed to them Sillanyo will fail no matter what kind of police commander he brings? After so many years in politics you don't think he knows that simple fact? And what about the one or two poor people who died, is their life not more important than some police man who was moved else where rightly or wrongly? Reer Burco are just too backward and both of those families who reside there are addicted to violence and trouble ilahay amarkis. Siilaanyo was always divisive, even in SNM days.So I don't think he learned anything from the past although he knows. That one person who died was because of RRU, in a cruel twist of fate they were trying to kill western Burco protestors yet the bullet hit someone from Siilaanyo's eastern Burco group.
  13. ^If anyone has been following the news for the past two years they would know it is to so many that it can't be summarised. That is how bad it is sadly. Just this week he tried to give one of his relatives the Berbera fishing permits company fish net that originally belonged to the natives, he also changed the police commander of Togdheer region so there would be less obstacles to his plans.
  14. I agree it is in unfortunate but it is the Kulmiye adminstration that incited it. I think it is unfair to pin this on Warancadde who is not even in the country. The police commander Cabdillahi Fadal Imaan made those orders from Siilaanyo who wants his nepotism to have no obstacles.
  15. burahadeer;992188 wrote: No salah disagree with you, police chief was instigator & part of the problem. If you really try be fair you be surprised how Silanyo dealt with his own sub. You can disagree but the reality says otherwise something else. Those kind of violent protests are not only confined to Burco but also Berbera and other cities in Somaliland people openly defying Siilaanyo's nepotism. That shows the problem is Siilaanyo not the police officer. Same day in Berbera
  16. Burahdeer You just proofed my point. The police chief was a obstacle to Siilaanyo's nepotism, genel only cares about their exploration going ahead they don't care about the locals. This man cared about the locals and informed them.
  17. It is. I don't know what sub group those locals he refused to attack were, but it all comes down to resources. The reason Siilaanyo wants to bring someone from Zeylac to Burco is he wants someone to make his nepotism in Togdheer oil exploration easier. Earlier in september Genel energy stopped operations because the locals were dissatisfied with the representation of workers, the sacked police chief refused to let the regional police be used to violently try and crush the locals without their grievances being addressed.
  18. You would be surprised. The police chief was sacked because he refused to attack locals who were originally given a water rig but the government tried to relocate it to somewhere else. All in all he refused to abide by Siilanayo's apparent nepotism.
  19. Burahdeer This is a power sharing issue in this city and yes those agreements were penned down in the 90s. It seems though Siilaanyo is trying to incite violence between the locals.
  20. The Dead man Body been carried in the streets of Burao by fellow Protestors By Goth Mohamed Goth One person died and dozens others injured after massive demonstrations rocked the second largest city today as anger boiled with disenchanted hundreds of resident rampaged through the city. Residents told us that the RRU used live ammunitions to suppress the peaceful demonstrators which resulted to the death of one person. The rioters barricaded all roads leading to and from the Burao second city in a bid to express their dissatisfaction with the current government decision to fire the police boss because of his ethnicity and replace him with another to serve the clan interest of opposing. Burao town came to a standstill as thousands of youth burned tires and fought running battles with the riot Police in the major streets of the second city with most business in the town been closed the whole day. http://somalilandpress.com/somaliland-one-person-killed-after-violent-suppression-of-peaceful-protests-in-burao-47105
  21. They are smart, they should be taught something more useful though. This kids can be the future Somaliland engineers and scientists that make a nuclear energy for Somaliland.
  22. Doesn't look unique at all, it is all over the place. The Italian buildings looked much better on the city, unfortunately metal scrap looters destroyed all old style buildings.
  23. ^ Yet you want to share a country with them. Adaba kasi waalan ma iis tidhi.
