  1. Yes it has created a huge backlash, it rocked the current regime's entire foundation. There is no coming back from this scandal for them, Xirsi blamed the former Foreign minister who was famously nicknamed "Dr Beenale" because of his many lies to the public. In the end though everybody knows the entire group is rotten from Siilaanyo to the ministers. The opposition has found a good ammunition to rally the people of Somaliland and they will use to the maximum. The Wikileaks revelation not only reached Somaliland public but all other Somali areas as well, it will be hard to impossible to contain that information for senile Siilaanyo.
  2. On top of being a incompetent failed politician he is also a sell out. Basically Siilanyo tarnished whatever little dignity he had left. People will remember Siilaanyo as the man who was too coward to show his true face to the public and tried to make secret deals behind closed doors, yet still failed.
  3. Not really, I always knew Siilaanyo was a incompetent traitor.

  7. Somaliland: President Silaanyo Appoints His Son-In-Law As Representative To The United Arab Emirates Hargeisa(Qarannews):- The Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud “Silaanyo”” has appointed his son-in-law, Bashe Awil, as the new Somaliland representative to the United Arab Emirates. In a move reminiscent of the latter days of the regime of the late dictator, Siyad Barre; for the first time in Somaliland’s history, the President has appointed a member of his immediate family to a position within the government. The appointment of Bashe Awil as Somaliland’s representative to the United Arab Emirates, a position which has no official diplomatic status, but is important nonetheless, in terms of trade, commerce and other ties with the Emirates, has caused considerable consternation within the country. Bashe Awil, who is married to the President’s daughter has no noticeable diplomatic background, does not speak or write Arabic, and has never held a government position, but, still the President decided to go ahead with the appointment. This appointment comes after a visit paid to the United Arab Emirates by President Silaanyo who met with the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, and his brother, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed, deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Emirate Presidency. Among the points discussed during the visit were the possibility of Emirati forces using the port of Berbera and Berbera International Airport in order to conduct operations against rebel forces in Yemen still loyal to former President Ali Abdalla Salah, as well as, the management of the Port of Berbera by an Emirati company. All in all, the discussions and their results were accompanied by the provision of financial incentives by the Emirati government along with the promise of further funds and the implementation of projects in Somaliland. In appointing his son-in-law to such a delicate position, the President appears to be more interested in securing the financial well being of his family and his close community members, instead of promoting the welfare of the country. Furthermore, the Somaliland constitution which calls upon the ratification of any agreement by the Somaliland House of Representatives, a body which has become ineffective, thoroughly corrupted with no credibility whatsoever, has been circumvented. 10. Somaliland: International Stake Holders To Meet In Hargeisa Hargeisa(Qarannews):- Members of the Democratic Steering Committee (DSC) from the various international partners and stakeholders on Somaliland’s democratiazation process will hold meetings in Hargeisa within the next few weeks. The meetings, the first of their kind, will be attended by delegates from the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, France and Switzerland. It is not clear whether any delegates from the United States of America will attend. The meetings which will also be attended by officials from Somaliland’s political parties, officers from the National Elections Commission (NEC),social organization activists, lawmakers and government officials will focus on the need to learn from the failure to conduct the scheduled presidential elections and to ward against future Somaliland House of Representatives sitting for ten years without scheduled elections. Meanwhile, reports from Nairobi, Kenya state that European Union representatives in the region will hold a meeting with the three Somaliland political parties, Waddani, UCID and Kulmiye to revisit the the current situation in the country and the readiness of the parties to participate in the forthcoming elections. 12. The military can't really get involved in political disputes between the parties in Somaliland , Somaliland military is based on different communities, so if it is seen as aiding one politician against the other it will disintegrate. We shall see though, the ball is in the opposition's court, it is up to them what next step they will take.

  15. Somaliland: President Silaanyo’s Mandate Expires, All Party Accord Not Yet Implemented 5:27 pm 27th Jun, 2015 Hargeisa(Qarannews):- The mandate of the President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud “Silaanyo” has expired on June 26th, 2015, and since no presidential elections had been held without a victory for the incumbent or a transition to a new administration, a state of emergency (such as war, draught, etc) nor the agreement to extend the administration’s mandate enacted, Somaliland, is effectively without a legitimate government. As a result of this curious situation the President has today invited senior members of the Somaliland House of Elders (Guurti), including its chair, Saleban Mohamud Aden “Gaal” and the chair of the current Guurti session in order to finally put in place the agreement reached between all parties to extend the administrations mandate until December 2016, when presidential and parliamentary elections will be held. Our sources indicate the President is eager to have the agreement in place in order to give his administration a legal foundation, whilst some of his close confidants would prefer to let the matter simmer and create a showdown with the opposition parties and Somaliland’s international partners. All in all, there is a consensus that the main obstacle to the agreement, Saleban “Gaal”, will be persuaded to drop his insistence on an unrealistic date of April 2017 for the sake of the nation. 23. Somaliland: All Party Accord Thrown Into Chaos By Presidential Press Secretary Comments Hargeisa(Qarannews):- The press secretary to President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud “Silaanyo”, has thrown the all party agreements on the delayed presidential and parliamentary elections in to chaos after stating that the administration supports the original Somaliland House of Elders(Guurti) proposed date of Arpil 2017. Ahmed Mohamed Saleeban “Dhuxul” stated that the administration, which agreed to an all party accord as recently as a few weeks ago, will not interfere and supports the decisions of the Guurti regarding the extension of the administration’s mandate. This appears to be contrary to the agreement between all the Somaliland political parties trashed at the last minute which had earmarked December 2016 as the new date for the much delayed presidential and parliamentary elections. It is not clear whether Press Secretary Dhuxul was freelancing or has the specific backing of the President, but it is worth noting that the minister for the Presidency, Hersi Haji Ali Hassan, had also stated that the decision taken by the Guurti and rejected by all the parties and the stakeholders was still valid and in force. The chair of Waddani and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Cirro” has called for the administration to clarify the comments made by both Hersi Haji Ali and Dhuxul. The all party agreement which had resolved a constitutional crisis in Somaliland appears to be in danger of being annulled. If this becomes the case, then the administration’s mandate which expires in ten days time on the 26th of June and extended under the all party agreement until December 2016, will once more re-ignite the constitutional crisis.
