  1. BAH ! That is all i've to say on my thousandth post . LST, thanks good Boy , Cara, you joining me? no ? ..eh.. just what i'd in mind.
  2. Now that i'm here too , i was thinking of a way to mark the thousandth post, i've been wondering how to make the anniversary post special, you know, do something i usually don't,something crazy ,like write a poem on the Poetry section, talk about fashion in the Women's section, agree with the Duke in the politics section, You know something really crazy, like, Kiss and cherish Ngonge's tiny flag of Somaliland, and tell him "Way buubtey" or call Val just to ask her what time is it over there? , or why not mail Admin and tell him for once LST is banned from SOL . I thought of dedicating the anniversary post to all the Nomads who got banned from SOL but left a mark on one's Sol-soul, like Jumatatu, Fanisha and Alle-Ubaahne. Sometimes i think i shoulden't celeberate the thousand fart , as i'm possitive that there're some nomads who find most if not all my posts meaningless fart. One thing is for sure though, after my thousand post ,i'm taking a break and make use of my hollidays.
  3. Good Xiin, I was expecting more of you than this single claim of "the creed is innocent", whatever the reason(s) behind the scientifical lagging of the islamic world is,it can not be justified by the level of education among the few Muslims who live in the West. What i can agree with you upon is, for a reason or another, home-grown science is non-existent in the muslim world, and what is scientifically available to the Pakistans and Iranians is nothing but an imported neuclear technology that is gained with the help of politically motivated non-Muslim countries and a handful local scientits,in fact, the trace of the Islamic neuclear saga goes back to a single Pakistani neuclear physician, and i think that is far from ideal, speaking of the Muslim world science, that is. Neither Pakistan nor Iran has a mentionable record of other scientific contributions, and Malaysia have had Science center only since 96 which speaks volumes of its own. What i do not agree with you upon however is the role of the charlatans, and their pseudoscience, on that i do agree with Naden who unlike you ( and here i'm disregarding your unsubstantiated claim of her falling into a snare of sort) valiantly gave a real account of why the Muslim world is scientifically left behind. What they(the charlatans) can (at least) be blamed for is, bloster the status quo to keep the scientifically lagging Muslim world stay so, ride on the hostility for science and the scientific method among the ignorant masses, the Mullahs and the religious authoroties, encouraging only extreme religious certitude( here displayed by ThePoint) while islamizing science. There is a pervailing hostility against science in the Muslim world, a hostility based on ignorance and fear of science colliding with the Quran, we all remember back in 81 when the Muslim-brotherhood called for an end to science education. Norf and Nomadique, your questions fall under Naden's charlatan comment, and that sums up my point of view . Viking , nice to see you back ! lol @jantelagen , du fick mig garva. And i'm not here to convince you or Khalaf for that matter, i'm here expressing a point of view, i thought the dogma of the assumption [ insert some self-righteous assertion here ] belonged to the medieval.
  4. Welcome back Atheer !!. That your entrence marks the end of the reactionary posts of the less sophisticated among us is an understatement. Now that the question is where the blame is to be placed, i'm more than happy to give you the credit for beeing both bold and right regarding the creed's innocence. I could even go further and support you by pointing out that neither christinity nor hunduism (let alone budhism (as creed )) are better equipped, needlessly to metion the glorious history of this creed regarding Science and its contribution. Having said that, one can hardly escape the bizarre science in the Quran and the evolving interpretations of the verses as plain attempts of Islamizing science. Though i do partially agree with the notion that there beeing other factors that'd played a decisive role in the decline of the Islamic empire and the shaping of the Islamic nations that followed . One'd be intellectually dishonest to overlook the fact thatt Muslims regard the Quran as the only truth they'll ever need to know. That in contrast to the negligence to bother with science and scientific institutions for the purpose of learning more about the world and how the world works, as that might apparently collide with the (belief) fact of having Gods words (the ultimate truth) already in one's hands. I'm open to discuss any reason you may present as the sole or main one behind the reason why Muslims are left behind regarding science, till then the role of the big bellied charlatans and their pseudoscience will do. once again welcome back Atheer.
  5. Naden,The taking of lives was meant to shed light on Khayr's "scared" mantra where he justified the "unislamicness" of shaky theories ,umimaginative books, boring movies etc etc as sacred. I know it is out of the scope of this thread and Norf prefers to cling on to it instead of the subject matter, but Kahyr's dazed justification has to be undressed. As for Norf sulking off, you must have missed his earlier hint of not beeing able to get bothered, from what i could gather the brother believes that there is a science in the Quran , and its a matter of interpreting it "correctly", but for a weird reason he doesen't seem to be able to support that stance. And yes,we're talking about the Science and the Islamic world.
  6. Post few more of this type of posts and i'll hav e no choice to but to compete against Mr Ugly . I drink this :
  7. If there is any truth in this study Alvedon woulden't sell that good.
  8. ^Who needs Naden's correction when we've Mr righteous Norf, who efortlessly can establish the facts that neither did this Faith has fostered violence nor a sword was raised and no single scared life was taken for the greater good of establishing this good faith on earth and all in the name of an order ( a message if you like ) from an omnicient, omnipotent and morally just Deity.? Wonder if the cause justifies the means ?! One can't help but correlate the reason why Muslim nations don't contribute much and the ability of individuals who labor under oppressive social milieus where one is expected (demanded)to be intellectually thankful and not question as that would degrade his "a must have highest" degree of Faith.
  9. Khayr , what is sacred ? Is Human life sacred?, if so, then why a Diety has to order a Human messenger to fight people and take their sacred lives untill they beleive in what he says? Sacred is a vague term to say the least and keeping sacred things sacred is not something religious people are good at. An intresting phenomena regarding sacredness and religion is no religion considers sacred what other religions consider sacred, namely each religion sometimes respects what it considers sacred and never what others consider sacred. Naden has articulately and valiantly underpinned what is wrong with the Islamic nations science-wise and why the temple guard is the salient attitude regarding science and what could be termed as pseudo-Science in the Quran. Your suggestion of her reading more " Sheikh " works, is again a futile attempt of holding to your old guns , "It is all in the Quran", a notion you so clearly abandoned by claiming " one can't square science with Islam". As for your under-belt question of her calling herself a charlatan, you show an unpolished sentiment, and that shows the difference in class. Cara, how about if they claim that each and every scientific discovery has been predicted earlier in one of those books, hence nothing is new under the sun?. Isen't that unfreindly Magisteria huge enough to de-science every science?
  10. Are we in Male deficit or are the sisters beeing too charitable to reachout even the ugly ones among us?

Hence,Biixi's point stands to reason. Q.E.D
  12. Originally posted by -Nomadique-: JB, I take it you didn't bother to read the article. Meaning that i sort of have missed a great point in Mr Harun's scientific "mofo"? Nomadique, Since you're down with what Mr Harun is offering as Science, mind sharing the plain and probably strong argument that you see and i soo miss? Norf, I've no intention whatisoever to entertain the idea of cracking what might get you bothered. Cara,I've a problem with the non-overlapping magisterias as it grants safe haven for any absurdity that can qualify as vague as devine. I find it disturbing to see every cosmologist, physicist, biologist and chemist fading away when the rodeo is about to be drawn just to let a theologian whose magisteria soley contains an equivocal claim , namely a knowledge about a Deity and its intentions, step in. Playing a catch up (is) should be an equal opportunity, no?
  13. Norf, with all due respect,Does giving yourself the right to place an onus on me entail the decency and malleability needed to comply with eventual rataionality and persuasiveness in the arguments i may present or demosntrate regarding The Quran and science, or regarding the Muslim nations' inabilities to produce any scientific or technological advancements.? To judge from my experience ,i stand challenged, that (won't) might not be the case, , nevertheless, its not a prerequisite from my part either, but its a desireabe trait, so here i am firmly asserting that the so called Quranic science is a clever reinterpretation of some vague verses at best and both a beastlike rape on the inherent beauty of science and a portrayal of God as a miserable science writer at worst. Domenique, Mr Harun Yahya is one of the very charlatans Naden is talking about, as he trades in the faith of the millions of 'science-nay' Muslims, serving their euphoria. The first time i've heard of him was when he was claiming that the 2nd law of thermodynamics disproves Evolution, i do sadly acknowledge that he serves well the euphoria of a person who is not well versed in science but sways with a deep religious belief. How about you sharing with us those verses that has scientifically thrown you off.?
  14. Naden , can't wait to see how you hold the drill, while removing the nuts and bults of devine science. , as i 've no hope of a charlatan extracting a real scientific discovery, and to be frank Naden ,i woulden't even know if it was him who made the discovery or if he got a littlel help from an Angel. Naden , lemme have it , throw some pseudoscientific verses on my way. Norf, i see no reason as to why one would need to fake a sigh of " not you again!", but giving you the benefit of the doubt it'd be desirable if you could enlight us about science in the " Quran", how much of the "Quran" is science?, and while on it, do reason as to why Muslim nations contribute little or no mentionable scientific discoveries to Humanity's struggle for enlighment. how about that for a boot?
  15. Originally posted by Xanthus: It must be Islam, it is not telling them anything! if only they will leave that faith and follow conservative Christians and New Agers they will produce scientific and technological developments worth mentioning!. A frozen venom there ! Originally posted by Xanthus: JB, maybe because most are too busy trying to stay Alive, it is hard you know! Great point i must say , no time to even read the 'Quran'?
  16. Today, however, the Muslim world is not only near-negligible in scientific productivity, but it generates popular pseudoscientific ideas that can compete with the best conservative Christians and New Agers have to offer. From the world’s strongest creationist movements to bizarre science-in-the-Quran apologetics, popular Muslim approaches promote a view of natural science as a pragmatic, non-theoretical, fact-collecting activity that exists in glorious harmony with literal-minded faith. Among more sophisticated Muslim thinkers, many who approach science from a social scientific or philosophical perspective do no better, getting lost in postmodern labyrinths and fantasies of "Islamizing science." source All too often have one heard the notorious Mullahic assertion that too many scientific discoveries are revealed and recorded in the 'Quran' for Humanity to ponder. Believing in that notion leads to the conviction that in Islam everything is 'scientifically' on the table and only those most obstinate will hold to their irrational guns and not yield to that supposedly sound and persuasive argument. I might be more Somali that you're, if you've skipped the Somali layman mantra that all scientific discoveries in the west origiante in the 'Quran', and the reason 'WE' are not making those discoveries is that, we don't put too much effort in decoding and studying the 'Quran'. This, if anything reveals the weakness of science in the Muslim-world. Today's reality is that Muslim nations don't produce any scientific or technological advancements worth mentioning, wonder why?. Your take !!
  17. Originally posted by BiLaaL: P.S. I'd caution you against greeting other people's posts with a concert of abuse. The ignorance slur was totally uncalled for. If you have a point to contend then do so but without resorting to slurs. hmmmm, wanna borrow my helmet? you sure gonna need it!. If we put the "politique ala Somali method" of ours aside and try to analytically find out the direction of the plastinian question i think Ngonge and president Abbas are the way to go about , but if we think with our Arabic guts and Islamic bravery the way to go is about Hamas and that green flag. Now that might sound biased and pro-Fatah stance and it may as well be so , yet it is not only that but a reality that demands nothing less than a complete acknowledgement and compliance, if thinking is done using our minds, that is. The plastinians are people under occupation, therefore lack the freedom to decide the kind of government they desire or vote in as the case was with Hamas. Hamas though democratically ellected in office is sadly not the kind of government a people under occupation need most. Hamas might be the ideal government of free plastine, but now its a hinder to that very freedom becouse of its unrealistic agenda. Hamas represents the emotions of the plastinians while Fatah represents their minds, and when you're under occupation having your priorities ordered is a crucial prerequiste for success. Hamas is fighting the war of a tomorrow that never comes, since Hamas refuses to go to bed tonight. Israel, US and the EU unmercifully demand from the plastinians to put Hamas to bed atleast for now, but what they don't understand is the psyche of Arab guts mixed with Islamic bravery. "All or nothing" is everything but an option for the plastinians in general and for Hamas in particular, yet unfortunately, for Hamas a coefficient expressing the responsiveness of a the plastinians to a constant/periodic occupation, its the only option, and that is where things get relative. Now, For Hamas and all those plastinians who think with their guts, there are two ways to realize a freedom, one is through force the other is through force, but to be realistic none of that is realizeable since the plastinians are (have been) already under occupation, Fatah is a third way to "half-freedom","maybe-freedom" and "camp-david-freedom". Quite a choice to make for a plastinian , woulden't we all agree?
