I think I read some his stuff in a book and the author seemed to have a grude against Northern Somalis; he seemd to be out to pain them to be uncultured nomads and liars who fabricated their ancestors. ^^Yes they brought some sort of stability, but there was always a conflict of ideas between various wings of the ICU; namely between Alshabaab, Indhacade/Awyes and Sheikh Shariffs associates. Sheikh Shariff and others wanted to convince the world that they were not indeed terrorists nor had any associations with them. However, the other wings vowed to march till Bosaso, Dahir Aweys vowed to take back Somali Galbeed, and Alshabaab linked themselves to Alqaeda. Then there came the military decision to attack Badioa and engage engage in conventional warfare with the Ethiopians, which was a military disaster. Those and other blunders gave the Ethios diplomatic cover and a green light from the UN and other International community. Those groups are still diviided on a politically mature level, hence the divisions and rifts that have recently occured, even though they are still agreed on one thing: to resist Xabashis. Yes, they may succeed in bringing a sense of normality to Somalia by taking over large swathes of territory. However, SOmalia may consist of villages, but, today, the world itself is a village, it doesn't consist only of Ethiopia and Somalia. The only figure who understood that was Sheikh Shariff and perhaps he still is the hope to convince the world that Somalis do not intend to militarily attack other nations nor support terrorism. However, as we know, Djibouti accord has divided him and the various resistance groups, who have no real know-how on how to engage the world, in order to avoid the previous militarily blunders that led to fall of ICU. The ICU understood this- hence why they sent Shariff to talk to the UN, although they disagreed with the hasty deal that was mashed out in Djibouti. Let us hope they sort out their differences and still embark on a two faced process of dealing with the international community, whilst at the same time continuing the military campaign to free Somali WOyane terrorists.
