  5. ^^Prof samatar, the uncle that writes books about SOmalia and is on the western media sometimes, miya? I don't know his clan, but you know the Sheikh government is still using the same 4.5 clan formula, so the pm has to be from a certain clan. There will be an uproar if he doesn't choose one from that clan. Anway, he never said he would change that process.

  7. The prophet (saw) would sometimes say a few sentences, or only a few words, but the weight of these words would have a heavy and poignant impact on the heart of the Muslim. For example, when the Bedouin(?) asked concerning his personal like for zina, the prophet(saw) simply asked him if would want it for his close female family members. So, the matter was settled right there and then, there was no need for a detailed lecture. Who would want Zina for his mother or sister? No sane man would answer in the affirmative. Sometimes the hadiths and words of the prophet (saw) were like boarding upon a flight to the future, landing upon another strange land. Imagine travelling to a land of Muslims, only to find the strange people in that country have taken the culture of their neighbouring states, whereby they enter into a the hole of lizard after them. I am referring to hadith where the Prophet (saw) gave the imagery of the extent to which some of his future nation would follow the Jews and Christians: "You will imitate the nations before you very closely to the extent that if they went into a lizard's hole, you would enter it as well”. The prophet used certain phrases of imagery to highlight the dangers of following a particular or to the extent that some practices would become common. On the other occasions, the words of the prophet (saw) would take you back to the lands of previous historical nations. Here you are left to journey through the ruins of the ancients, the deeds of the pious, the struggles of war and the cries of the oppressed. In the hadith about the companions of the ditch, you zoom in to the lives of a previous people, and then you are left imagining the horrors that the tyrant king subjected those muminin too; the perseverance and iman of those people, especially the young boy; and lastly, the struggle between kufr and iman. The prophet (SAw) also spoke with certainty regarding the future victory of his followers and of his deen, when many would have doubted and become downhearted. Predictions of Islam spreading fast across the land, Muslims seating in the palace of Caesar, or the Persian being defeated by the Romans( a quranic surah), must have all seemed strange( even to the Muslims at that time) at that time. It was hard for a Bedouin in the desert to imagine the Islam would spread across the entire world. However, as Allah(swt) said: the Prophet(sw) did not speak of his own hawa, rather he spoke from a higher revelation, which, no doubt, gave him the ability to make predictions and prophecies with such great accuracy. In those days, it was hard to imagine that Muslims would come on every lean camel, from all corners, shave their heads, in order to proclaim the rights of the hajj pilgrimage, as was revealed to the Prophet in the Quran (saw). It was also hard to imagine that Muslims would take Persia and wear fine garments, as the Prophet (sw) described to his companions. So, the miracle of the prophet (saw) was the Quran, his ability to make accurate prophecies and his ability to describe future events with vivid and poignant imagery. A recent hadith which made me think quiet a lot, particularly during these times, was the hadith of Khabab: "We complained to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace while he was using his cloak as a cushion in the shade of the Kabaa. We said to him, 'Will you not ask for help for us? Will you not pray to Allah for us? He said, 'There was a man among those before you for whom a ditch was dug in the earth and he was placed in it. Then a saw was brought and places on his head and he would be cut in two. He would be raked with iron combs which would remove his flesh from his bones or sinews, and that would not deter him from his deen. By Allah, this business will be complete so that a traveller can go from San'a to Hadramawt fearing only Allah, or the wolf for his sheep, but you are trying to hasten things. (Bukhari) What I got from this hadith was that: 1. The virtues of being patient and not being hasty. Victory doesn't come in day. When it didn't come to the believing nations before us, they were firm upon patience and steadfastness. 2. No amount of punishment or persecution would deter those people from their deen or tawheed. 3. The prophet (saw) had a firm believe that his deen would triumph, thus, why he gave the example of a person who was travelling safely from hadramut to Sanca (something unimaginable at that time.) And what I asked myself from this hadith was that: 1. How much patient would I show in such circumstances? And how easy would some of us compromise on our deen? 2. How strong is our tawakal calalah (putting ones trust only Allah)? How easy is it for us to become downhearted and hasty? What are some of the words of the Prophet (SAW) which made you ponder and reflect? Abu Diaby
  8. oodweyne, i'll let the other users be the judge of that. This story is not as absurd as the constant proclamations of Somaliland independence being close every time a habar cad lands in Hargeysa or shakes riyales hand. WHat's the difference between the endless euphoria about Somaliland recongition being close when one world leader mentions SOmaliland and this story? I am sure that you do understand that vp gave the folks a ball to run with. Sameway, if western leaders mention the name SOmaliland, you and your friends run with the ball to claim Somaliland has reached a milestone and promotion from the conference to the football leauge is close at hand. ps. When will wey duushay flight reach recongition land? How long will the pilots keep circling the world, looking for places to land, only to be rejected every time?

  13. ^^ jzk. You must have hearf of hellenism, right? Some of the phlisophies and aqeedah coming of the Muslim world resemble how the hellenists Jews tried to compromise with the greek culture and create a fusion between the two. Of course, the difference is that this deen is the final revelation and Allah(swt) is still protecting it through his scholars of tawheed. ps. was this a SOmali only thread. Give me 5 years, sxb, i shall be a fluent writer in Somali and Arabic, inshallah. engegta= something that runs out? no.

  15. ^^ Bro, I support whoever does and rules by the consent of the SOmali people. I said most Somalis support( not all ) what faction they Even the wadad groups are said to represent various Somali clans and areas. It makes sense, though somtimes it can get ugly, when it is used in the wrong area.
  16. ^^ I don't believe there is an apolitical Muqdisho or any other Somali society. Most people support the faction which they believe serves the best interests of their clan. The Somalis in your posts are too nice, almost unreal, sxb. I say Somalia is back to 2006 because: 1.There is government which was created outside of the country 2.Most of the country is different Islamist fiefdoms. 3.As usual, the newly created government has a huge opposition to face. 4. Ethiopia is rearming warlord again.
  17. Thierry said:fight although their main reason (Ethiopian occupation) is no longer there. What is their argument to the people for the continuation of violence? Brother, the fighting between maxakim and the warlords started before Ethiopia invaded. Or don't you remember that? It was Shariff who was leading the maxakim at that and his arguments can be summarised as follows: 1. Warlords are Mujrims fighting against the deen and the people, thus Somali folks must liberate themselves from their grup. 2. NO, NO, No, to foreign troops, including AMNISOM, who shall all be dealt with in the same manner. NO, NO,NO, to further peacekeepers. 3. TFG are criminals and hence they wil not be negotiated with unless they repent, especially after bringing foreign forces to the land. 4. And finally:Sharica shall be the law that prevails in the land. Majority of notable Somali Ulema came out and supported those stances. Three years later, the Ethiopias have departed, however, SOmalia is back to where it was in 2006. The armed groups want to keep fighting the amisom, tfg and the other warlords, as well as the new government. Remember those were the reasons that Shariff sold as the reasons for going to war in 2006. Now the question is: why are they doing it? is it because they want to live anarchy or because they hate peace? Both are nonsensical arguments; and it has become the norm that most people on SOL start to regurgitate the words: peace, hope for the best and SOmalia needs any government, fulan hates peace, fulan is allergic to peace, all hail chief shariff. I don't have nothing against those arguments. Though I am simply trying to get to you understand that other armed groups weren't simply fighting to remove Ethiopia from Somalia, if you thought that, you're mistaken. They were fighting to remove Ethiopians, Amisom, Somali warlord and then set up sharica system, not so a tribal or secular government could take their place. How realistic their aims ARE is another debate altogether. What is up for dispute is that they hate peace or that they are evil khawarij for not compromising on their principles and not joining the newly announced warlord, come wadad government. I don't think they are and their position is not different from most other liberation movements in the world. As someone, who is reading from the distance, I believe that they shouldn't fight the Sheikh, since it will lead to a greater evil, that is , a religous war and a brutal struggle for Muqdisho. But I think they will as their world is one of conflicting binary discourses and black and white decisions. That said, what I still find peculiar and don't buy is this rush to condemn and potray as evil, the armed forces who are attacking the AMINisom and still fighting against the tfg warlords. How can it be that in 2006 it was just for them to fight warlords, but today they are khawarijites? How can shariff call the tfg murtads and warlords in 2006, but today they are brothers and people who attack them are evil? The systems and the conditions that brought war in 2006 haven't changed, only the people have, they have switched factions. Suppose Abdi Qeybdiid or some other warlords beat the Sheikh in the contest in Djibouti, then would Alshabab still be evil for attacking the new president in his villa? Suppose Mahamed DHere won? WOuld you say, " ah ah, the lunatic, khawarij, are attacking the new SOmali president? Do warlord, tfg and aminsom become blessed and righteous because a sheikh joined it? That is all what the armed groups are screaming. Can you answer that question? Okay, so what I was basically trying to say was that the armed groups are attacking his bases because he joined the tfg and because his sitting under the Ugandans tanks. The same reason why ABdullahi Yusuf was attacked in his villa. They couldn't care less if a Sheikh or a saint is in there. good day brother.
