I don't need any paritcular Sheikh. It is an Islamic obligation for any Muslim to resist when his land is invaded. It doesn't matter whether there are bad Sheikhs or good Sheikhs, I hope you understand that.If Ethiopia invaded Somalia and Siyad Bare was the leader; there would still be an obligation to resistance. Similarly, there would be an obligation to resistance if the leader was the most pious Sheikh on earth. So long as the ruler is not telling your to disobey Allah swt. Because the character of the person is not more important than the violation of the Islamic land. Some Ulema in the past said that perhaps it would be O.K to let the cadow stay in the countryside, if they weren't doing no harm. But, once they declare war(like the Ethiopians) upon you and enter your land and major; marka you have to meet them like the Prophet saw met the Romans at Tabouk. You said that there is no Jihad in the any Muslim country; the prophet saw said that a group of his Ummah will do Jihad until the day of judgement. Therefore, weligi wu soconaya wuna jiraya. Am not saying that this group is Somalis. Note that I am not talking about blowing up innoncents or attacking western countries. I am simply telling you that there is a legitimate Islamic struggle in the Land of Somalia. This doesn't mean all the people taking part are angels or pious people.

27 November, 2007 05:28:00 Ethiopia bogged down in Somalia Having done the main work, we had the belief and expectations that a situation would be created for us to be able to withdraw," Mr Meles told MPs Ethiopia's Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has acknowledged that his troops cannot withdraw from the conflict in Somalia. Mr Meles said he had expected to withdraw his soldiers earlier in the year, after Islamists had been driven out of the Somali capital, Mogadishu. But he said divisions within the Somali government had left it unable to replace the Ethiopians, while not enough peacekeepers had arrived. Some 60% of Mogadishu residents have fled clashes in the city, the UN says. The Ethiopians intervened a year ago to oust the Union of Islamic Courts, which had taken control of much of southern Somalia. Their presence is unpopular in Mogadishu and earlier this month, insurgents dragged the bodies of Ethiopian troops through the city. "Having done the main work, we had the belief and expectations that a situation would be created for us to be able to withdraw," Mr Meles told MPs. "However, this belief and expectations could not be met according to our plan." Talks He has always said the Ethiopians would pull out when a peacekeeping force was deployed. But only 1,600 Ugandans have arrived, from a planned 8,000-strong African Union force. The UN is divided on plans for it take over the mission. UN chief Ban Ki-moon says it is too dangerous to send troops to Mogadishu. The UN refugee agency says one million people have fled their homes in Somalia, including 200,000 this month, following the latest clashes between insurgents and the Ethiopian-backed government. Last week, new Somali Prime Minister Nur Adde said he wanted to hold talks with the opposition. Somalia has not had a functioning national government since President Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991

Addis Ababa, December 26, 2006 Meles Zenawi : Meles said, so far Ethiopian troops have not entered any town, and it is only the TFG forces that have gone into towns. "Liberating towns is not Ethiopia?s agenda. Our army has avoided even the small towns that have been liberated so far.? He added, ?There are no specific towns that we target to liberate. We have no specific agenda of targeting Mogadishu or any other specific town. We are not after towns, we are after the terrorist groups.? ? Only senior commanders of our army have entered into these liberated towns, and they did so solely for the purpose of talking to traditional leaders in these towns," Meles said. We have done more than half of our mission already. As soon as we complete the other half, and I hope it won?t take us long, we will be out of there," Meles said. Asked what exactly is Ethiopia's mission, Meles said, ?The mission of our defense forces is to protect Ethiopia from the threat posed by the so-called Mujahidin, the Shabab, and their backers - the Eritrean army." ?They pose a very serious threat to us - ?A clear and present danger? as our parliament described it. Our mission is to stop that by degrading their military capability to hurt us. Once we have done that, we have completed our mission.? ?So far the Somali people in the areas that our troops and those of the TFG have crossed have been very welcoming to our troops. We have not faced resistance of any kind from the Somalian population ? none whatsoever,? he said. "Much of the UIC militia is out of the game now. They have gone to their clan bases. We have no plan to pursue those. The rank and file of the Islamic Courts militia is not a threat to Ethiopia. It is not the enemy; and we are not pursuing them at all." Then Premier said, the limited operation of the Ethiopian Air force in Mogadishu was a very carefully carried out operation. ?The Air force limited its activities to the air base at "Balo Dogleey", where there are no civilians. It is an air base where the leadership of the international terrorists have their headquarters," Meles said. "There was one air raid on Mogadishu International Airport. But it was a very limited one and caused very limited damage, because the intention was not to cause damage, but to warn off civilian planes that are being chartered to ferry Eritrean troops and ammunition into Mogadishu," Meles said. "The only forces we are pursuing are the remnants of the Eritrean army which have been stationed there, and international terrorists who call themselves Mujahidin," Meles said. Asked about the extent of the involvement of the Eritrean troops, Meles said, ?They are in it up to their neck. They are in it in every form they can. They have their manpower there. They provide leadership. They provide logistics. They provide the conduit for other forces to provide assistance. Those who do not wish to provide assistance directly, do it through the Eritrean government.? Meles described as "myth" the theory of regional conflagration between Ethiopia and Eritrea. If the Eritrean government had been eager to start a regional war with us, it would not have had to go thousands of kilometers up to Somalia. Meles said he do not see any reason why this war should be protracted. "I would be very surprised if this thing were not to be wound up over the next days, at most a week or so,? he said. Asked how Ethiopia would face a guerilla warfare which the terrorists are threatening to launch, Meles said, "Ethiopia will not be there for them to wage a guerilla war.? ?Our hope is that the dialogue between the TFG and the UIC will be revitalized. Our hope is that those foreigners who have been messing around in Somalia would be required to leave, and the Somalis will be left alone to deal with their matter through negotiation," Meles said. ?If our military operation has created an environment which is good for such dialogue, we would be absolutely thrilled,? he added. Meles said Ethiopia welcomes all peace initiatives being carried out by the international community and that it would fully cooperate to the fruition of such initiatives. "But," he said, "Ethiopia?s intention is not to circumvent the peace talks." ?Our intention is to protect ourselves from the threat that these people posed on us as Ethiopians. Once we do that, we hope the Somalis can do their homework without interference from any body, including Ethiopia.? Asked about worries of the humanitarian implications of the war, Meles said, he do not think that is a valid worry. "We have not stopped any humanitarian work, and do not have plan to stop any humanitarian work."

The spree of looting, conquering and leaving Somalis underdeveloped in the Ocaden regions means that most Somalis don't speak their language let alone read and write; 99.8% of Somalis are still Muslims and most identity themselves with Somalia and Somalis.Go to the Somali countryside and Ethiopians are generally associated with negative things. It is also difficult to colonize Somalis as they are fairly homogenous and prideful people. Many nations came to Somalia and left Somali nomads to their devices. Even the Italian colonialists are credited with builiding nice infrastructure and buildings, but how many Somalis did they gain in their catholic church? How will the Ethiopians bee remembered in Somalia? Ethiopians simply want a Somalia that is run by a friendly regime which doesn't identify itself with any political Islam or nationalistic sentiments that claim the Ocaden region. The war against the Islamic Courts was not one of colonization, rather it was neccesary for the security of the Ethiopian regime in general. If I was their leader, I would have gone to war much earlier with the Islamic Courts. M.T.V has more of a capacity to colonize Somalis than Habashis. The reason why they are in Muqdisho is because of our weakness not their strength.

Caamir, he said "religous" men not any particular group. He claimed "religous men" ie wadaads in general control everything....If he had said Islamic Courts or even Alitixaad that would have been understandable. But he simply declared all religous men including even Alislah as his enemies because they allegedly run everything. The fact that wadaads control those things shows that they invested and worked hard for their country when many people packed up and left. How can someone be regarded as an enemy simply for the business they control? Clearly, if there is no state apparatus to control those institutions, then private sector and individuals will move in to fill that void. The old type secularism were governments control everything and they even appoint the Imams failed in the Muslim world and it actually gives more support Islamists. Because the secular regimes clampdown on religous brotherhoods, media and attempt to control all the insitutions themselves. If Abdullahi Yusuf declares a date for the withdrawl of the Ethiopians and comes to the negotiating table, he can incoporate wadaads into the political system by letting them take part in the elections. This system has worked in various other Muslim countries. Armed Islamic movements have been forced to join the political process and make peace with their secular rivals.Even when they join the political process Islamist movements are only likely to win around 20% of the votes. If anything Abdullahi Yusuf's mentality of declaring everything from Wadaads, Xawalads; to the world food programme as his enemies can be considered hawkish and displaying a zero sum game mentality.

You can already rule out Mr Cade telling the Ethiopians to take a hike, Meles said we are staying......

So this particular Qabil name is allowed to be mentioned?

They can't colonize Somalia because they don't have a superior culture. I mean how many people adorne themselves with Abysnian culture in the Ocaden region? How many even kill themselves Ethiopians? So please let us stop this Ethiopia is colonizing Somalia farce...they have no ability to do such a thing......

Saxiib, you are not the one that can dissapoint us. Quranka, Sunnaha iyo Ulemada baa la maqlaya. Not every Tom,Dick and Farax can make such grand statements. The fact that criminals declare Islamic struggles doesn't still change much. Even if it is Mohamed Dheere or Abdullahi Yusuf declaring the struggle it is still legitimate. Ask any true Islamic scholar, even if the Emir/ruler is a criminal and the Muslim land is invaded then there there has to be resistance and organization.

The religious men have all the mosques, they have the education and social affairs, they own the health, they own the commerce, they own the telecommunication, they own Hawalas the money wiring services…nothing is in our hands… so how to deal with the religious establishment, we should discuss, are the religious establishment the government of the country? Or are we the government? Have you ever thought how we could takeover all of these wealth out of the hands of these religious men? The audience shouts back YES! Have you added that to the plan? Yes, shouts back the crowd Ok then, I am a man and I will give you a hand …these men are our enemies, do you hear me? Let us fight the men ! These men are what they are because of all they got all the wealth of the country, either education, religion, or a mosque, or Hawala or the economy or telecommunication or commerce what you have, are in their hands, let us force that out their hands, and that is if you want Somalia to become Somalia. The above doesn't say anything about I.C.U or U.S.C. In fact he even names moderate groups such as Alislah. It clearly says the wadaad a.ka the religous men! Perhaps the Ururka Islamiga have any views on the occupation and invasion of Somalia, which is unislamic by the way............

Do the Ururka Islamiga know that the leader of the Somali warlords declared the entire religous establishments as his "enemies" and vowed to fight them? Perhaps they will have some views?

We all know Somalis support a handful or a dozen teams during their lifespan. When I was younger(am still young ) I used to support Newcastle FC.....

Are African languages important? African languages like Swahili, Yoruba and Somali are now available to read on the internet based encyclopaedia, Wikipedia. The website aims to give every single person an encyclopaedia in their own language no matter how rare and features everything from recipes to biographies. But Wikipedia is dominated by articles written in English for which there are over one million entries. Compare that to African languages where there are just a handful of entries. Swahili is the most widely spoken African language available in text on the net, but in general the presence of African languages is dismal compared to languages spoken in the West. How important is it to be able to read, write and speak an African language? Is English now the most important language in the world? Should people in the developing world still be taught local languages and are they useful for everyday life?
-
Lasy year they asked if traditional African languages should be abandoned.....

The so called president openly declares "and fight with the HAWALAS". He declares the entire religous establishment( including Al Islah) as " these men are our enemies, do you hear me? Let us fight the men!Whilst the his bunch of friends reply with applause. He claims that the W.F.P is giving food to insurgents. His evidence? They give food to people in mosques. I am wondering who writes his speeches? Doesn'the care what the impact of his words will be in the Somali community?
-
I am gonna organize some boys to march and protest outside the British Parliament. And I urge All Somalis to boycott British products including their benefits
-
So what exactly are there products? Khat Coffee and? The Irony is that the biggest investor in Ethiopia is a Muslim( Sheikh Almoudi). I doubt you can boycott his products.....

Correction: Christian Ethiopia is fighting Christian Eritrea Correction: Major Islam scholars in the Islamic world and major ulema in Somalia have declared the struggle in Somalia as pure and legitimate Islamic struggle. The fact that Eritrea is supporting Somalis doesn't change the struggle one bit. The Americans supported the Afghan Resistance and every Ulema in the world declared it an Islamic struggle. They never said that "Christian America" is "fighting Atheist Russia". Rather, it was 100% legitimate resistance just like the struggle in Somalia! If we are talking about Muhamad saw, what did he do when the Romans crossed the border near Tabouk?
